What is the size of the 1st copy of Vmware snapshot delta

If I understand instant, it creates a copy of your image.when delta you first create the snapshot, the snapshot (hard) size is a few megabytes (1000 k or more) and the size of the RAM.

Example - my primary VM's with 4 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk. the VMDK file size is 30 GB

first preview, file snapshot.vmdk will be created which will be around 1000 k

We will create a file over 4 GB RAM

space required for the SNAPSHOT so total is 4 GB + 1000 k is this correct?

Now, if I use instant, it can push up to the original size of VM primary, means it can grow up to 30 GB.

that mean, when I restart the snapshot virtual machine size will be 60 GB?

Please advice

Concerning

Avinash

Disk space required when you create a snapshot depends on whether the virtual machine is turned on or off. What you describe on the file .vmsn is correct for the virtual computer power on. The .vmsn file contains the State of the virtual machine (memory) as well as its configuration (.vmx file). With the virtual machine off there is not need to backup the memory so that the file is only a few hundred bytes in size.

The initial sizes for files hard depending on size delta set virtual disk service, since delta files are fragmented files that contain metadata in addition to the user data. It also makes a difference if the virtual machine is turned on or off.

..., when I restart the snapshot of the VM size will be 60 GB?

No, snapshots files store only modified data blocks that are written with the active snapshot. Each of these blocks of data points to the original location in the basic disk. So if delete you / consolidate these blocks are written to the original location in the Basic virtual disk file.

Please take a look at for example http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1015180 which explains the functioning of snapshots in VMware products.

    Hello

There seems to be some confusion about the latest version of VMware Player.

Please see the screenshot. The title is 'VMware Player 4.0.2', but the individual downloads are "VMware Player 4.0.1".

I downloaded the Linux version and help-> about said 4.0.1.

So, how to get the version 4.0.2?

  • What does the option "copy photos to the photo library?

I explore this now app Photos (worst name ever) and I wanted to import photos in Photos. The problem for me is I want to let the pictures where they already are. I'm not interested in a database or the system that hides the pictures of me in the finder. I want to be able to right click and reveal in finder - "export image" is a terrible choice.

So, I see an option to check in the preferences. It reads: "Copy pictures to the photo library" but has no explanation as to what that means or does. This is what it will move my photos if I select copy? (their disappearance from the original file)? It will resume photos - clutter up my drive? If we make a copy and I update the original in Photoshop - it will reflect this change in the Photo?

So many questions and I can not find an answer to any place. Even the help files had nothing that I could find.

Default is 'Copy photos to the photo library' enabled.  Then the pictures will do exactly that. Any Photo that you import pictures is copied in the photo library and managed by pictures. You can remove the original outside the library after you have verified that it imported properly.

If you disable the option, pictures reference the file in its original location and does not copy it.

This configuration is not recommended because you have to manage photos on your own. If you delete photos of Photos, you must delete the original outside yourself. You cannot use iCloud photo library with referenced files and if dot nee restore you from a backup library will need films to another drive, you will need to manually reconnect all originals. It is subject to errors.

If we make a copy and I update the original in Photoshop - it will reflect this change in the Photo?

It will not work. Two Photos will ignore changes to Photosho or lose the connection to the original file. To use an external editor in pictures use extensions to change Photos photo editing panel. Let the pics to send the original to the external editor.

  • A separate copy of VMware Fusion by user

    Hello

I have a Mac Pro where I want two independent copies of VMware Fusion running. I thought I had two users with Admin privileges, and each with a vmware fusion facility that they own.

One will be the host of services that need to be connected all the time.

And it will be used for the test and because VMWare fusion does not revertToSnapshot operation while merger is turned on, it will turn it off (at least) before execution of the revertToSnapshot. So I can't have my servers and test virtual machines running on the same copy of VMware Fusion. (Please let me know if I'm wrong and there is a work around which will allow all on a VMWare fusion only exemplary.)

So in this case, I need two copies, VMWare seems to install so that it is available for all users on the same machine. And it doesn't seem to be a simple installation and uninstallation processes. So I (naively) thought I could package VMWare Fusion just pull on the Applications folder and put in the office he said. And then I can do it again for the other user.

    Which will work?

    Thank you

I have a Mac Pro where I want two independent copies of VMware Fusion running. I thought I had two users with Admin privileges, and each with a vmware fusion facility that they own.

To be clear, there's a merger set up by machine (for security reasons). Each user can have its own set of virtual machines.

And it will be used for the test and since VMWare fusion does not revertToSnapshot operation while the merger is on

In my view, that the control is actually if there is a lock file, not knowing if any instance of Fusion runs. If user A running virtual machine X and user B wants to return virtual machine, it should work fine (as long as there is not the virtual machine library, but that would cause problems anyway).

My understanding is that the older versions of vmrun incorrectly ignored the lock file, so if you could revertToSnapshot with Fusion race, there was a small chance of corruption.

  • What is the minimum size Flash DRIVE bootable installation of Sierra?

When you make a bootable installation of Sierra, what is the minimum size of USB that is required?

    8 or 16GBs.

Installers for OS X Mavericks to Sierra bootable USB

First, review this introductory article: creating a Setup program bootable OS X Mavericks or Yosemite - Apple Support. Second, see this diagram how to create an El Capitan bootable Installer. Just replace the Terminal command with that of the previous article by copying it in the Terminal window.

You will need a 8 GB or more flash disk USB that has been partitioned and formatted for use with OS X.

    Drive partition and format

    1. Open utility disk from the Applications\utilitaires folder.
    2. After disk utility charges select the drive (entrance Out-bumpy with of the mfgr.) ID and size) in the list to one side.
    3. Click clear in the utility disc toolbar. Name of the player, "MyVolume". <-IMPORTANT!
    4. In the Group dropdown set the GUID partition scheme. Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).
    5. Click apply and wait for the done button to activate it. When it click on it.
    6. Quit disk utility.

    Create the installation program

Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Choose according to the command line appropriate (in red) on the OS X installer you want. Paste this entire command line by underneath at the Terminal prompt:

    Order for macOS Sierra:

    sudo/Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia--volume/Volumes/MyV--applicationpath/Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app

    Order for El Capitan:

    sudo/Applications/Install\ OS\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia--volume/Volumes/MyVolume--applicationpath/Applications/Install\ OS\ El\ Capitan.app X\ X\

    Order for Yosemite:

    sudo/Applications/Install\ OS\ Yosemite.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia--volume/Volumes/MyVolume--applicationpath/Applications/Install\ OS\ Yosemite.app X\ X\

    Control of Mavericks:

    sudo/Applications/Install\ OS\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia--volume/Volumes/MyVolume--applicationpath/Applications/Install\ OS\ Mavericks.app X\ X\

Press RETURN. You will be asked your admin password. It won't echo on the Terminal window. Press RETURN again. Wait for the prompt to the Terminal, meaning that the process is complete. It takes a while to complete. Be patient.

  • What is the best format to select then copy music from a cd to itunes

I copy my cd collection into iTunes. What is the best format that should be selected for the best quality of music? Thank you.

"Better format" and "Better music" (sound quality) are not the same question, for audio encoding.  The best sound comes from a "Lossless" format  The encoding using the Apple Lossless Encoder encoder in iTunes provides without loss of sound quality, compared to the songs on CD (which are in AIFF format).  You can also use the AIFF encoder, but the files of the song will be a little bit bigger compared to Apple Lossless.  However, TWO Apple Lossless AIFF formats and create larger files of the song, so they take more space on your computer drive (several times over).

iTunes Store sells songs in format AAC , compression ratio 256 kbps.  This format may provide the best combination of efficiency (small size) and the sound quality.  There is a minor loss in sound quality due to compression, but I can't tell the difference between lossless and AAC at 256 Kbps, format with my headphones and speakers (and ears).  To use this format when you import your CD, select the AAC Encoder value encoder iTunes more.

NOTE: Import encoding settings run the button import the settings of iTunes preferences General pane.

  • What is the maximum size of a project (the number of slides)?

    Hello!

I am considering using Adobe Captivate 9 to create courses. I wonder what the limit is the size of a project/course.

If I want to create a massive course (300 more slides), Captivate would be able to do?

On a related note, is there a size limit for editions with Captivate applications?

    Thank you very much!

    RodWardadvice is critical:

Captivate CAN create huge classes with hundreds of slides.

I tried once, it was not good.

I would ask, outside a large scope, what are the parameters of design?

    Public: location? Experience?

Content: Linear, minor branch, extremely complex?

Quiz & evaluation: controls all along, lesson quizzes, final exam, all this knowledge?

Distribution platform: LMS or web hosted?

Network configuration: Intranet, Extranet, Internet audience?

The user access: Desktop, web, mobile, generous mix?

    justint14083881 wrote:

He can do it, but you probably wouldn't build it in this way, not twice anyway.

    This leads me to ask:

What is your level of experience with other versions of Captivate?

    Other courseware authoring tools?

    LMS & web hosting?

I'm not hoping that the project 300 + slide is not going to be your first experience with Captivate.

(Forgive me on this point, but your profile is not very complete, you provided little substantive and not not to LinkedIn or other portfolio pages)

First, the standard SCORM LMS allows only a quiz by file. If you publish a course of 300 + slide, you would be limited to a simple quiz on the course.

Secondly, as mentioned by RodWard , if you want to enable access to the mobile device, the size of your project would be unmanageable for mobile delivery to SBS. You have to break out after the fact, which is difficult, frustrating and rework.

Thirdly, if there is no desire to reuse content, as reusable objects, the only course approach means your audience can follow the entire course or not take. Pouvez copy you slide by slide to another project, but then you would have to manage multiple variations. If a single slide changes in this approach, and you have reused slide ten times, you will need to make ten changes to keep a current slide.

Captivate can create links to other projects, web or pages content back into your LMS. Break 300 more to the top of the slides in small bites, that's really what we do.

My advice is to learn about Captivate, before you start this level of effort, taking training, get experience on smaller projects, publish on your LMS companies, your comments on the finished course.

In addition, you should spend some time reading these forums, research on issues related to the interactions you want to use, questions LMS, you will need to address, and ensure that the follow-up and communication systems are in place to meet your organizations needs.

Then you're ready to start designing for your platform, with a good understanding of the functions of Captivate as a tool, your network and your LMS.

  • What is the best way to copy a large poster and print it?

I am doing a project of great art (about 5 feet by 5 ft), where I'm going to learn things by hand and would like to make a copy of this project by analysing the it in the computer, or to take pictures high resolution project and their compilation together in the computer and then print the image at this size, or larger. So, I'll have the original, 5x5ft and one printed copy.

What is the best way to achieve this?

I heard that vector images are ideal for this, so is recommended for Illustrator this?

I know it is a vector graphics program, but is it possible that I can take a bitmap of a scan or photo and somehow become a vector? If this is not possible, what are the recommendations would you?

    I have Illustrator CS2.

I do not believe that the scanners large format are flat, if I'm wrong. In my view, they have a mobile head that scans the original bottle then made up the data with the software.

It is not cheap, if the original can be easily damage they'll probably damage it unless you make sure that beforehand what they know about it
and that they accept that they can scan without damaging it.

Photography is a good solution if you know how the art of light and you use a long distance goal.

The reason is shooting with a normal or wide-angle will give an effect of stretching the edges especially bandwidth due to the proximity of the camera to subject distance. The lens and the longer distance will accomplish the same capture without you stretching effect.

Now, if you really have a service experience work fine arts or large commercial then scanning might be the way of.

In both cases, I don't think you want to vectorize the art.

I'm moving my wife and an old (Thunderbird, Win XP) computer to a new computer (Thunderbird Win 7). It has about 700 local folders with thousands of emails in them. What is the best way to copy to the new computer?

The easiest is just to copy the whole profile.

    Menu help > troubleshooting information

    Close Thunderbird

In windows Explorer, select all and copy.
just stick on a thumb or other portable media to read/write (not the CD or the DVD)

on the new Machine to repeat the troubleshooting and close the steps to get the current profile folder

This time all the portable media stick in the profile to replace what is there

Open Thunderbird, your additions of e-mail contacts does it all

I have a model early 2015 MacBook Pro 13 w/retina with 8 GB of RAM with a 128 SSHD.  I want to upgrade the SSHD and I have a few questions:

    1. What is the largest size that I can install it?

    2. how to re-install the operating system?

Thanks in advance for your help...   I apologize if this question has already been asked, but I couldn't find the answers.

Technically, SSHD refers to a drive of Fusion purchased in-store, with a rotating part (the hard drive) and a Solid State Drive, all in one package.

I think you meant to ask about Solid State Drive or SSD. That's all that will fit in the MacBook pro 13 - in 2015.

I use a HP dc7600 CMT, which works well after the upgrade to a Samsung 128 GB SSD Intel Pentium D 3.4 GHz, 4 GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon HD 6450. I'm under Win 8.1 Pro x 64, with the most recent upgrade and have absolutely no problem. Now, I want to add a second internal HDD and I wonder what is the maximum size that I can go to. Will be happy to help here, especially if he actually tried to apply in practice.

    Best regards

    Hello:

In theory, you'd be limited to 2 TB.

The biggest HARD drive I have ever installed in my dc7600 CMT was a 1 TB of HDD, so I can't confirm that a 2 TB drive will absolutely work.
