What recovery disk belongs to which laptop?

Hello

We have several laptops from Toshiba (Satellite A100, A200, U300, L300, Tecra M9) and several recovery disks. All recovery disks look alike (the only difference is a code starting with GMR400. How will I know the drive I have to use with a given mobile? Is it possible to tell one of the others? Or I can use any disc with any laptop?

Thanks for your help

Hello AMB

Unfortunately I can't help you much about it because those numbers don't mean a lot to me. Also, I believe that no one here can help you with this stuff. What you can do is to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help. They have access to the database of Toshiba and I think they can help you.

The fact is that you cannot use any disc with any model of Toshiba laptop. Saved on the recovery disk recovery image is created for certain model only and recovery image contains specific drivers for the specific model laptop (depends on the hardware platform).

Bye and good luck!

I have a laptop CQ71 who crashed and requires a "startup device. He was initially loaded with Windows Vista but since being upgraded to Windows 7.  Should what recovery disk I use?

I'll take a look at NewEgg offers so you can see the required type.

    Ok..

On this page at NewEgg.com I sort their offers to show only the interface internal IDE and type of external connection USB you need. They have used to be much cheaper, but no manufacturer product more devices with IDE interface for the market.  It is preferable to use types that come supplied with a power supply external adapter por. In this way,. that you do not point out the usb ports on the pc to which you are connecting.

    Hello:

Most likely, you need start Recovery with disk 1 of 3 and the support disc is an additional disk.

If you are prompted during the recovery process, if you have an additional disk answer Yes.

  • Can what recovery disks I start with?

Many device drivers so not load, errors with the dll, the ability to paw down to close an app is now replaced by a title bar stupid that I have to use the X to close, and these ToolTips are displayed on the side of the (very large) screen that I can't close forever.

And my system is too slow. Time frequency Super ridiculous mouse causes obvershoot of targets by mousing.

So now I am on the point of using the disks that came with my tablet to reinstall Windows 8 from scratch.

I start first of all for the system disk and then use the recovery discs?

All my data files are now supported by up... ready to do.

    I have the Iconia W700

Oh, I just Chat with Support on the Acer site and he discovered this:

First, you must start the Tablet using the system disk, and then insert the recovery by the instructions on the screen discs.
    But...
Before using the recovery disk, you must disable the boot secured in the BIOS screen.

Use the following steps to enter UEFI on your W700 ICONIA:
Turn off the system completely---> press on and hold the Windows logo button and the Start button / stop until the Acer logo appears on the screen and then release the button

Then, the tablet will access the BIOS automatically screen---> Startup tab select disable secure boot option.
In addition, the ability to change the boot priority is available in the trunk same tab configured to boot from the CD/DVD

Then save and exit the BIOS.
Make sure the system disc is in the DVD drive and boot the disk.
From there on, follow the instructions.

  • My computer recovery disk shows RED on laptop HP Dv6t-QE

Using Win 7-64 bit, no error message, bought 24/01/12, looking at the list of readers on 'My Computer' - recovery disc RED watch - as far as I remember, it's there since new - not exactly.

The recovery partition is configured by default to use only as much space as necessary for the files to reinstall your operating system. Windows sees this as an almost full score and feels the need to inform you of this fact

  • What happens on a HP recovery disk?

I have an old 2-4 years (?) Laptop HP Pavilion dv9000t CTO.  It crashed... big time!  I had to buy one (DVD) recovery disk online to get it going again.  It took days to get Vista and all my software to current standards (w / all the facilities and updates).  Then, I created a new set of two recovery disks to DVD - which I should have done in the first place!  My questions are these.  1. the disks that I created have all updates for Vista? 2. the discs also include software that I reinstalled?

    Hello:

The recovery discs you created are about the same thing you bought the recovery disks.

They did not have a picture of your machine after installing the updates and additional programs.

    Hello

I have laptop P840 that came pre-installed with Windows 8, which I've upgraded to Windows 8 Pro.
I then updated to Windows Pro 8.1 by Windows store. Please notify:

    1. how to create a DVD repair or start for windows 8.1 pro with UEFI Bios and boot secured.

    2. I created a USB recovery using the control panel in Windows Pro 8.1. It starts OK. It will be the same as that I've created using the Toshiba Media recovery creator or will it drivers Windows Pro 8.1?

    3. check partitions with disk management, then 3 (450MO, 350 MB and GB 10.90) recovery partitions, 1 EFI system partition and 2 primary (C: programs) and D: for data. I created the recovery DVD and USB 2 disks. Can I remove the 3 recovery partitions?

Your help will be very appreciated.

I found your previous thread on this topic:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=74272

    > 1. How to create a DVD repair or start for windows 8.1 pro with UEFI Bios and boot secured.
To be able to boot from sources other than the drive HARD internal, the boot mode must be set to the CSM and secure boot must be disabled!

    > 2. I created a USB recovery using the control panel in Windows Pro 8.1. It starts OK. It will be the same as that I've created using the Toshiba Media recovery creator or will it drivers Windows Pro 8.1?

Your laptop has been preloaded with Win 8. Right? For example, the USB flash stick memory you just use the Toshiba Recovery media creator contains the Image of Toshiba with Windows 8. Don t mix this Toshiba image with the image that can be created using Microsoft's own backup and restore function. Both are different pictures!

    > 3. Check it with disk management, then 3 (450MO, 350 MB and GB 10.90) recovery partitions, 1 EFI system partition and 2 partitions primary (C: programs) and D: for data. I created the recovery DVD and USB 2 disks. Can I remove the 3 recovery partitions?

The last partition contains the files on HARD drive recovery. Usually this partition will be created again when you use the Toshiba Recovery disk to put the laptop back to factory settings. So in the case where you n t need this files or the partition, you can delete

  • Satellite C660 - recovery disk fails error 1117

Please can someone help. I tried to use my recovery disks to restore my laptop when it kept not start correctly. The disks did not work so I bought a set of discs from Toshiba on this Web site. I still have the same problem.

What the failed hard drive or something else?

If I buy a new hard drive recovery disks will work if the hard drive is not exactly the same as the one that is out?

    Hello

Have you thought about the HARD drive?
It could be a malfunction of the HARD drive that does not allow you to install the system.

I recommend that you check the HARD disk for some potential problems.

There is a nice tool called Drive Fitness Test. You can use it to check the HARD drive.
Google simply to get the software.

  • Check the recovery disk?

    Hello

I got a restore CD that doesn't seem to match my laptop. Y at - it no way to verify what machine is a recovery with a specific reference number disc for?

    Mine says: GMR400864EN0

There is also another number at the bottom of the saying of the label: CD 5 124753, but it is probably the earlier that counts.

    Thank you!

    Hello

It of not possible to check what recovery disk corresponds to what laptop.

But you can ask a service provider authorized to do this. Maybe the technicians know that if this is the right number for your laptop model.
If you call them it only takes a few minutes ;)

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A100 - recovery disk loop

    Hey guys,.

I am currently trying to reformat/reinstall Windows on my laptop A100. There is nothing wrong with that, I just wanted a clean install. I use the recovery disk and start the laptop through the DVD player. It reads the DVD fine I get "Loading the RAMDisc Image" or something else, and fill the bars and loads. After that, I see a cursor with a black background and then after a few seconds, the phone restarts and brings back me to the start screen for Toshiba again. Does anyone know what is the problem?

I used the disc before and it worked fine. The only difference between yesterday and today is that I partitioned my hard drive into three sections (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Misc files storage), but I don't think it would be a problem.

In addition, if you use the recovery disk does not, is there another way to wipe the hard drive and start over? (That is to say, reformat the entire computer and reinstall my OS?)

    Thanks in advance!

What happened to my laptop. To resolve this problem, I deleted all the partitions on the disk using FDISK non-dos and then was taken successfully.

You can download free startup BACK disks on www.bootdisk.com (choose the custom floppy Win98SE, there FDISK).

  • Satellite A100 - question about recovery disk

When I bought my Toshiba laptop, I received a product with her recovery disk.
At first, I thought it was the recovery of the whole Windows XP (OS which was preinstalled) but on the back cover of the case, he said only "Windows Office One Note"

So this product for a recovery notes only?

Yes, it looks like a recovery disk from Toshiba which would format the whole HARD drive and reinstall the operating system preinstalled together.
