What type of Raid and disk offline
Hello world
Thanks for reading this.
I have a Dell Poweredge T6300 with a Perc H730.
It has 8 drives 1 TB 7.2 k.
It has a C drive and a D drive.
Looking at the Server Manager / file C and D Storage Services seem to be Raids but I'm not sure what kind. One of the disks in the set of 4 seems to be flashing orange offline.
Server seems to work very well.
Seems that I can't find a way to check the type of Raid without stopping and running Perc H730 map (CTRL + R) software.
Is this true?
I think I can hot swap according to the Type of Raid, and I believe that the hardware supports that.
I was wondering if I think in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.
Hi DLOJ333,
Did you mean you have a T630 instead of T6300 model?
You can install Open Manage Server Administrator, who will monitor your condition storage and server real-time hardware. Just make sure that you check to install Storage Administrator. This may require a reboot of the server for the registry and the service is running.
Additionally, make sure that you are running Windows Server.

The TD230 recognizes my to 2 X 3 drives when SATA is configured in enhanced mode.
When I opt for the SATA SW mode and then go into the SRT utility to create the RAID, he recognizes that readers only 780 GB
EFI is the latest version published on the site, but I suspect it is the Embedded Server RAID Technology II software that is out of date - A.09.08061549I (April 2010)

Thank you

I used the very low end but he SAS/LSI MegaRAID 9240 - 8I SATA3 - works - can upgrade to a more robust RAID LSI card more later if necessary

SSDS must be similar in size and type to raid 0?
SSDS must be similar in size and type to raid 0? I have a 2009 MBP 2.66 bicoeur. SSDS are an old sata 250 GB Samsung 850 pro III and an all new Intel 160 GB (320 series) sata II. The hard drive on the MBP interface is 3.0 GB/s sata optical drive interface is 3.0 Gbit/s
Different size, different brand, sata II issue III v?
If it works, it will be almost double the read and write rates, I understand. I am aware of the increased risk of data loss. Will only use for backup data.
How is it difficult to set up raid 0? I don't know the first thing about raid 0, 1, 2, 3?
Thank you
Stu
If it works, it will be almost double the read and write rates, I understand.
RAID offers for the SECOND and the following read/write of the same LARGE file acceleration and not otherwise. Any intervention of reading or writing in different files eliminates the acceleration. Any acceleration is much more dramatic on rotating discs, because it can eliminate some of the 10 ms or more long 'dead time' while the reader is a new track and the controller must wait for the correct data go in the position under the read/write head. Acceleration on the low-latency SSDS is far less dramatic.
The system drive / boot is particularly bad choice for a RAID, it reads and writes small random files in all directions. Who will get no acceleration.
You can best be served by creating a workflow that allows separate readers for the source files to Destination files, files of zero and drive system / boot.
--------
RAID is usually done on the disks that are exactly or nearly the same. Too slow response of one of the discs can cause the RAID failure.
RAID support has been removed the disc utility GUI in 10.11 ElCapitan, probably because too many casual users got into trouble with the built-in GUI functions. You need to use the diskutil command in the Terminal, or buy the SoftRAID(4) package.

I have a lot of photos on my PC and want to download them to a DVD. What type of DVD that I need and how do I get this pleasae?
Good reading this guide - http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-copy-photos-to-a-cd-or-dvd-using-windows-7s.html which gives the basic idea.
If you want to burn the permanent backup disks get cheaper discs of 'R '. If you want to reuse the disks later get the disks 'RW '.
It will be useful.
PS - Its value in two copies as a double backup and store them in other places - just in case. Especially since the discs is not expensive.

What is my type of virtual machine disk?
How do I know what type of vm disk?
I have a lot of files hard all less than 2 GB so I guess that I have a shared rather than a monolithic disc drive.
How know if I have a sparse or pre-allocated drive?

The fact that they are all less then 2 GB it means a split disc are rare otherwise they would all be all of the 2 GB.
Whether if it is a drive IDE or SCSI, you can view the settings of Virtual Machines for both the Bus type and so pre-alloacted.

Who and what motivates a RAID? Harm may be :)
Hi, I've been waiting to get an evga sr-2, but they are so difficult to get their hands on at the moment where I was starting to wonder if I should go for something like that in the meantime. http://www.overclockers.co.UK/showproduct.php?ProdID=BU-031-ob
I always wait longer and make big improvements instead, so am willing to wait another month if you need to get my hands on a sr-2, but sought to spec Harms silly pins first pro and noticed that it gets quite impressive for a single i7 results
I was wondering if overclocked sr-2, clocked at 4.2Ghzplus is worth twice the money.
In addition, any advice, I find myself with the first stage will use their raid on board to run a RAID 5 with 6 disks. (they do not raid 3)
Finally I have plan to get an areca card but do not know what drives to use. WD Re4 (2 TB) seem to be pretty good for raid and critical use as £200, they are much more than blacks of WD. I was wondering what to do it is a lot of money, especially if I decide to get an areca card and use the raid 30 functions?
Thank you, Michael.
Michael,
As you can see, leading Chris' in the Benchmark PPBM5 reflects the enormous power of double X 5680. Admitted, it's much more expensive than a single same overclocked i7-980 X, like Studio North. However there is a clear advantage a dual in the sense of Xeon system you'll have 12 DIMM slots and he can easily use the 2 GB sticks very affordable to get 24 GB, which can save a lot in comparison to 6 x on an X 58 mobo 4 GB sticks. Or else you can expand memory to 48 GB if you wish so.
You may have seen this review already, but in case you missed it, look here: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2010/08/17/evga-classified-sr-2-review/1
If you consider that there will be further improvements in multi-threading and some exporting modules in next CS, the more advantage of hearts and more memory is likely to increase with a 980 X.
Regarding the drives, WD RE4 are an excellent choice. According to your storage needs and your timing to an Areca controller, it may be wise to start with the 1 TB version or 1.5 to and then later add another 6 x 6 x 1.5 or 1 TB. That will give you a Bay of 12 disks of the same gross capacity 6 x 2 TB for about the same amount, but because of the greater Bay will give better performance or in the case of 1.5 TB models even more storage capacity. I would advise against Caviar blacks because of the TLER problem.
Plan for the Areca, you must keep in mind a way to transfer your data to a table of mobo in a table of Areca. You will first need to create a new 6-disc on the Areca, copy your data from the array to the new array of Areca mobo, then move one disk at a time from the mobo to the Areca and define everything first as a backup, and then expand the table. You must do this for all the existing disks, but this way you have no problem getting all your data to the new array intact. I would probably use a Raid3 or Raid5 with a hot spare, if you end up with 11 x Raid3/5 with a hot spare, or 12 x Raid6.
I hope this helps.

My wife has an i5 to 2.3 GHz MacBook Pro early 2011 and it worked like a slug. Ran disk utility and verified that the disk needs repair using recovery HD. What does this lead and what is the risk of losing all the data is there?
Even if it is very slow, you must make a return upwards before the race "repair disk". The risk of data loss is minimal, but do it anyway: Save and run to repair the disk.
As for what it implies - most of the time nothing more than simply sitting and waiting to do his thing.
