What would support other mobile next to Tecra A4 my HARD drive

Toshiba Tecra A4 model number: PTA40E 01500UEN.

I have a laptop, the foregoing, bought in May2005, so seven years old and starting to show its age.
I have three hard drives that I use with the laptop, all internal, so I simply unscrew the cover on the underside of the laptop, unplug the internal hard drive and plug it into one of the other drives, according to what I intend to do. All the three internal hard disk are Windows XP, based, but with different applications installed.
This also works well for me if one of the drives fails. I have two backups etc.

What I want to know is, what other brand/model of Toshiba laptops would support my drives outside a for like Toshiba Tecra A4.

Could I connect my hard drives internal on any other laptop model Toshiba and they work very well?
It s only if and when I buy another laptop if used or new, then I might as well buy a Toshiba laptop that will allow me to plug it into one of my three internal hard drives that I currently use?

I understand I think laptop internal WHAT BIOS s should recognize the hard disk and the operating system installed on the hard disk. Who else has done and model Toshiba laptops will work with my current Toshiba Tecra A4 of the internal hard drives? Are there, is it possible?

Thanks for any help.

Hello

There are two types of interfaces of HDD: IDE (PATA) and SATA interface.
As far as I know the old Tecra A4 supports the controller IDE hard disks IDE should be compatible with this laptop.

In some cases the IDE controller would treat an IDE HDD up to 120 GB because of 28-bit LBA
Larger hard drives (> 120GB) are supported by ATA - 6 and superior controller for ATA - 6 supports 48-bit LBA.

    Hello
I corrupted hard drive 100 GB Hitachi in my Tecra A6 I want to replace. Are there limitations in the Bios on the drives, I can use as a replacement. I am aware of the limits of size and interface, but I wonder if there is no limitation in the Bios, and if so, if the impact of these limitations only translates into a lower capacity hard disk than expected in drive standard.

    Thank you

    Hello

Tecra A6 und SATA HDD HARD drive controller support 2.5 SATA there.
Since the SATA interface is not limited to certain sizes of HARD drive, you should be able to use any HARD drive 2.5 SATA.

I doubt THAT BIOS is limited, so I would say that you can also use larger SATA hard drives

  • With Toshiba Tecra S3 RAID hard drive temperature monitoring

I wonder if there is a software (or a tweak for Toshiba RAID Utility/drivers) that would allow the monitoring of the temperature of the HARD drive.

Utility known as SpeedFan, HDTune etc., I tried, and that work very well at least with IDE drives, either don't notice not the hard drive SATA RAID at all on my Tecra S3, or they can not access the S.M.A.R.T on the temperature information (possibly information can not pass through Toshiba RAID drivers...)

    Thnx for any comments.

    Hello

    I usedEveresthome edition.
But I am an owner of the laptop with a disk IDE HDD and to tell the truth I don't know if it will support the feature m RAID.

    But you can test it.
This utility reports the HARD drive and the temperature of the CPU and provides many useful and detailed information on the characteristics of portable equipment.

I hope it's going to market

I want to improve the HD in a laptop Tecra 8100. However I can't find the HD player required to do this.

Hey Buddy, your notebook computer is an oldie.
As far as I remember that the computer is about 6 years old.
At that time, the supported laptop, 6GB, 8GB, 12GB, 15 GB, 18 GB, 20 GB HARD drive, and the disk 20 GB HARD is, in my view, a maximum size. More is not possible.

I found kits of HARD drive you could use:

    PA3027U - 1 H 12 12 GB hard drive Kit II

Using NTFS with Windows 7 system.

  • Re: Tecra 9100 - new HARD drive is not detected

I have a Toshiba Harddisk provide a Tecra 9100. Checking the BIOS it shows "Enhanced IDE", but you are trying to boot from the disc does not work HARD. Even trying to install a new operating system present, that the HARD drive is not detected.
From the laptop is also very long.
    Any idea?

Your new HARD drive is larger than 120 GB? The HARD disk controller supports the 28-bit LBA and large drives as 120 GB will not be recognized by the BIOS.

What you mean with Enhanced IDE? The BIOS recognizes the new HARD drive with model number?

  • Tecra M5 - corrupted HARD drive

    Hello

I have a Tecra M5 laptop and have replaced the hard drive twice as the data on the drive seem to corrupt itself - and the second time after a month.
Note, I've been using brand new discs hard too.

The only thing I can think that there is a problem with the hardware, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas that the laptop is out of warranty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dan

    Hello

The laptop can not damage the HARD drive!
The HARD drive can cause damage, for example, because of the high stress of use

But if the HARD drive is recognized by the BIOS, and if it of possible to install the operating system and then the disc is ok and that only the data seems a shame.
This can happen still and so is advisable to back up the files and important data on a second partition, HARD drive or disk.

If your have a larger HARD drive, and then create partitions. In addition you should defragment the simple scores from time to time.

  • Tecra S1 - size HARD drive can I use

    Hello

I have a Tecra S1 and looking to upgrade the hard drive because it is only the 30 GB model.
I found the HDD compatible in terms of size, but my question was if there was a restriction on the ability of the HARD drive, or I can go to any size I want?

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks Chris

    Hello

AFAIK the Tecra is supported by the IDE HDD controller and you have the 2.5 IDE HARD drive.
I guess that the IDE controller supports ATA-100 standard and therefore the LBA48bit would be too pressed and this means that you can use hard disks of more than 120 GB.

But if the ATA-5 controller / LBA28bit ATA/66 only then would be sustained and in this case, you can only use the 120 GB HARD drive as a larger size.

  • Tecra A3-S611 - hard drive upgrade

I'm new to this forum and publishing in general.
We have a Tecra A3-S611 who needs a new hard drive. I do not know how to order a. Anyone would be able to tell me what are the options we have? Can order us a SATA hard drive? Speed? Any size requirement? 2.5 ", Yes? Good suppliers? Brands? Please forgive my ignorance.

Thanks in advance for any help.

After looking on Google for this model number, it seems that this model uses a ParallelATA (IDE 2.5 "hard disk), you cannot install a SATA drive because the connector is different

Given the A3 only came out with 40 GB (or there abouts) HDD, the maximum size may be limited to 120 GB due to the LBA48 barrier of 137 GB (limitation of the Chipset).

So what you want is a 100 GB or 120 GB IDE PATA 2.5 "HDD, clocked at 4200 RPM or 5400 RPM / min. 7200 TPM can become too hot.

  • Tecra 8100: Larger hard drive possible

    Hello

I would like to know what size of the hard drive for a Tecra 8100 can be. The original GB 12.1 broke down and I can't find a disc hard it big/small or large. The current hard disk to the start of the sale to 80 GB, but I am not sure if it will work.

I don't know what version of BIOS is loaded currently, but I plan to upgrade to the latest version anyway.

    Hello

because your computer has a set of chips Intel 82440BX/ZX, you will have some problems of large drives with 80Gig or similar facility. I've heard users here that 40 GB drivers work well, so if 60 GB works - I know Don t. 40Gig has been proven, so if I were you I would buy a 40Gig pladder and update my bios before installing the drive.

    Should work so perfectly. :)

  • Other is 90 GB to 256 GB hard drive

    Hello

I cleaned my MacBook Air to get rid of files and emails etc. However the amount of the 'Other' remains at 90 GB of my drive. My movies, music, photos, etc. is that at 60GB - I followed the steps in support for 'Others' positions, but still it doesn't move down. Any ideas appreciated. I'm under El Capitan.

    Thank you very much

    CAtherine

First of all understand what OTHER includes:

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT202867

Download the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all your files and respective sizes. This should allow you to determine which files to remove or disable charge it to an external HARD drive.

Don't forget to empty the trash. Then only the space is allocated for the new data.

    Ciao.

  • Tecra M9 - no hard drive when installing XP

    Hi people,

I've scoured Google, and it is a common problem with SATA drives.
There is an easy way to just change the Bios to IDE, then install XP and restore after.

It's problem... the V1.5 of the ACPI Bios has no options to make this change, or switch to Compatibility Mode (which also corrects the problem... apparently.

I downloaded the BIOS ACPI V2, but the catch is that it won't work back - Windows only.
So I'm stuck in an untenable loop!

Without Windows, I can not change the BIOS-without the BIOS change - no hard drive seen...

Anyone know of a DOS version? Or some other way?
    Until I go crazy?

Oh, have tried also to install Win98, even Win 95 and then upgrade - but nothing works.
Except Ubuntu - but unfortunately, I need Windows to be compatible with my desktop computer.

    Thanking you...

    Hello

From my experience, you cannot use compatibility mode, installing WXP and go again in AHCI mode.
F you want to have the full capacity of HARD drive you don't use compatibility mode. What you need to do is to load the SATA driver before installing WXP begins. More info on what you can read on http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=38

  • Tecra 9100 unrecognized hard drive

    Hello
If I replace the hard drive in my tosh bios indicates no hard disk is installed.
The new hard drive is MK2016GAP I tried with and without the master/slave relationship.

    Clues?

    Hello

The MK2016GAP is a 20 GB HARD drive.
I searched the Internet for the Tecra 9100 and discovered that the phone comes with 40 GB or 60 GB HARD drive.
BIOS shouldn't t so no problem with the size of the HARD drive. The size of the HARD drive is certainly supported.

So I think it's a problem of jumper or you did not connect the disk HARD corectly.
I put t know how the jumper was set to your old HDD, but you should check the position of the jumper and put it also on the new HARD drive.
