  Hi, I have windows home basic and started having a problem getting my updates [error code 641] there were 7 now there are 9 that I can't seem to download. I've been in contact with microsoft and have clusters of solutions but nothing worked. I see that many people have the same problem and they tried the same thing, I tried to no advail.   I can't find an answer to back up everything, but a workaround could be while the file menu options are visible, press the option key

  and the point of the window will become close, if you click on that dialogue will ask you if you want to restore the changes or save

  pressing Save will close the image with the changes and then move to the next image and so on.

  Before Kaspersky, I had on Windows Live safety - do not remember the name right but had for several years until it was discontinued by Microsoft. I didn't run the Norton removal tool before installing Kaspersky.

  Preliminary stage: Please uninstall Spybot & Ad - Aware, at least for now. Two of them include "real-time system protections" that could play a role here.

  Tip: If you don't fully understand what that Tea Timer (Spybot) & (Ad-Aware) Ad-Watch do and how they do it, one of them only enable if you decide to reinstall the applications when we're done here. [IMHO, you need not other antispyware applications if MSE is installed & working properly.]

  ACTIONS:

  1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

  1B. download Windows Live OneCare cleanup utility, save it to your desktop: http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/c/b/4cb845e7-1076-437b-852a-7842a8ab13c8/OneCareCleanUp.exe

  2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

  3. double-click on the file that you saved in # 1 a above, to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.
