  Maybe it is locked, Apple do not unlock phones, then call O2.

  El Capitan is a bit fussy about safety. Try

  Finder > go > connect to server...

  and enter the address of the server explicitly in the dialog box that appears.

  Most of the time that what happens when people change their email address main apple id without first signing in iCloud on their phone - the phone remains signed with the old e-mail address. Here's the latest from apple If you can not activate your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch after installing iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

  If you can connect to iCloud.com AND see your phone under appliances, you can remove the account as a last resort.
