    Hello

As far as I know, this laptop has only 1 antenna. And so there is no need to upgrade most other than the original 802.11 g.

In additional, there are small speed increase even if for some new laptops using 802.11n. 1501 is 5 years old.

Better to save the money for a new system in the future.

Dell Inspiron 1501 wireless light is not on and I can't get a wireless connection. I was told that I needed to press the Fn key and F2 but it doesn't change anything

    Catherine,

To press Fn and F2, you must have installed Dell QuickSet.

Places to look to see if your connection is activated

Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system, have you installed the desktop system software / laptop (as appropriate) and drivers from the chipset first? If this is not the case, the rest of the drivers will not install. How to download and install drivers in the correct order

Start with the computer system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

Go to the drivers & downloads , enter your service tag, and then select your operating system. Under applications, you can find Dell QuickSet.

I have a computer laptop inspiron 1501 and it came with Vista Home Basic.  I like better XP and wondering if I have an installation on my computer, I have an XP installation disc.  If I can, how to do it all?

    Hello

You will be able to install Windows Xp on your computer, but you will need to perform a clean installation.

Before installing Windows XP. And also, you will have to take up the data in your computer, because the new facility will remove all data into the computer.

Download the driver from the support of dell at the following link:

I would also like to inform you that there is now the operating system disks or support is available for Windows XP.

  • Inspiron 1501 wireless head-scratcher

    Hey,.

Well, here's the deal. I have an Inspiron 1501 Windows XP. I reformatted it successfully, install all drivers in the correct order and so have a computer with wireless internet to work. But here's the difficult thing, my uncle asked me to do the same process for its Inspiron 1501 because its wireless internet did not work for well over a year and has been reduced with an internet flash USB stick. I followed the same process I did my own, but after 3 or 4 complete system reformat, it remains the same. The computer does not even recognize that there is even an adapter wireless network in the system, as the Device Manager lists the "Broadcom 440 x 10/100 Integrated Controller" as the single network adapter. Can anyone help with this? I'm PUZZLED!

    Thank you very much

    Curtis

    Hi Curtis,.

The Device Manager will be on the list of the devices that are connected to the computer. It seems that Device Manager is not able to detect the wireless card.  This happens if the cable connected to the card is damaged or disconnected. Most likely, it must be disconnected. You can try reseating the cables.

    To reconnect the cable:

    1. turn OFF the laptop, remove all sources of energy such as the power adapter AC, battery etc...

    2. remove the keyboard for instructions download the manual at the following link:

    3. After you remove the keyboard, you should be able to locate the wireless Mini Card its in the upper right corner. Check the cable connections, reinstall even better for them.

    4. replace the keyboard and check in Device Manager, if its able to detect the card, install the driver and it should work.

    5. If it still does not work, it's a hardware problem, the wireless card needs to be replaced.

  • (Redirected) Problem in the passage between the laptop and TV with Inspiron 1501 (windows7 operating system)

    Hello friends,

I've recently updated my OS from XP to Windows 7 ultra 32-bit in my laptop and the model is inspiron 1501 and fine, but when I switch to the tv by pressing Fn + F8, it cannot get on TV.

My cable is OK and Fn + F8 works, but does not send the TV signal via the VGA port.

I've updated the latest drivers from dell web site, but did not work and I do not know is good software that works for external TV in windows 7 Ultra 32 bits.

I would ask that any body in the community can help me solve this problem?

  • Error Code 5 on Inspiron 1501 Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit WinPhlash more battery issue

    Hi all...

I installed a FRESH install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on an Inspiron 1501 w / an AMD Turion64 Processor...

I know that I have will have limited support of drivers (I think I have this issued... problem) but my current bios is 1.4.0 and I try to install the newest bios...

When I run WinPhlash it starts... but then, I get the error:

    Cannot load the C:\Users\Inspiron1501\Downloads\drivers driver

    a16 downloads\2.6.3 bios\PHLASHNT. SYS

Please check your accounts, if you have no administrator privileges,

    Error code: 5

I have only ONE user on the laptop... and admin priv!

Also... I'm having a battery issue... I was wondering if I missed a previous agreement on this issue...

When I start the system... it shows my battery as being 0% and fill... but when I eject battery and reinstall, it shows then the battery is @ full load, and the battery holds its charge!

THANK YOU ALL! ANY help would be great!

JUST an info... It WAS a matter of having the 64-bit o/s installed...

I installed the 32-bit system and managed to update bios!

BUT the NEW bios do NOT take the battery problem! It is a separate issue, so I'll look elsewhere.

  • Does not DETECT THE SOUND CARD / laptop INSPIRON 1501

I have an INSPIRON 1501 laptop and have had problems with the sound for some time. When I watch movies, the sound is there. When I Skype, I can hear, but the other party can't hear what I'm saying. Skype can't detect sound card.

    What I've done so far:

I went to control PANEL and then MANAGER of DEVICES, OTHER DEVICES. Here, I have only one BASIC DEVICE SYSTEM option with a yellow sign. I right click on properties, then under GENERAL clicked REINSTALL DRIVER, but Windows could not find driver software.

I also tried option SOUND, VIDEO and GAME CONTROLLERS in the DEVICE MANAGER. There is only one HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO DEVICE option and it is not marked.

Advice I have to install find the sound card.

Thanks for all your advice beforehand.

    Thanks again for the support.
So, it is possible that the problem lies in a loose plug?

    Off topic:

When I turn on the PC, before Microsoft logo appears, I get the following message:

WARNING: The battery cannot be identified. This system will not be able to charge this battery.

    Press any key to continue

Press F2 2 times to enter SETUP

Press F12 and any key to enter Boot Menu

What is the problem and how can I get rid of this message?

  • My "Fn" (function) of Inspiron 1501 key works in reverse

My "Fn" (function) of Inspiron 1501 key works in reverse

Try to press on the windows and the X set button. Opens the Windows Mobility Center. It should be an option to swich the Fn function key. If it does not, then there should be an option in the bios.

You get to the configuration of the bios on most Dells by tapping the F2 key immediately after the power when the Dell logo appears. Look at the top left, you should see a message about to enter in the configuration. I think be F2 on its own. No Fn + F2. Stop typing when you see the message.

Maybe in the Configuration system > function key behaviours. Something like that.

Once you have changed your behavior, you will need to save and exit.
