which slot to put the Samsung SM951 ssd in

I have a Mac Pro 2009 and just bought an adapter Samsung SM951 SSD and m2.

In order to obtain maximum possible performance, I wonder what pci slot to put it in. I read somewhere that slot 2 is the best, and then I think I've read on barefeats that slot 3 was better, but that might have been a RAID. I want to install only a single disk and want to choose the optimal location.

It should not make a difference because all the slots in a 2009-2012 are Gen 2. Units 1 and 2 are 16 channels and 3 and 4 are only 4 channels but the PCle card is only four lanes.

It should not matter if you use SATA1 or SATA2, but there are always exceptions.

I got a motherboard with two different SATA [Intel & Marvel] controllers with different speeds. It is unusual, so the safest bet is to use the same SATA connector for your new SSD that you used for your old HDD.

Since you have two bootable disks, you may need to go into EUFI/BIOS and set your boot order to boot from the new SSD first.

You should be able to access the files on the old drive without problems, but I've seen on occasion where you will get an "Access denied" error due to 'permissions' problems, especially if the original/OS disk has been protected by a password. If you have any questions, you can create a linux live boot disk "to access your files.

Instead keep you the old drive as is, with an operating system and boot volumes on it, you must backup/move your important files to your new SSD then remove all volumes on the old disk, create a volume, and then format to use as a data/backup drive.

  • How put the 2nd HDD/SSD in XPS 17 L701X-... There is no support!

I would like to replace my HDD for an SSD, but I want to continue to use the original HARD disk. The XPS 17 has two positions of HARD drive, but only one of them has the bracket. Where can I get a second tranche? None is listed in the list of items on the Web site.

I'm fine with another type of support that adapts, but so far I paint a white when searching for it.

The disk OS must ALWAYS be in the first place?

Or can I leave the player dying in the first slot and put the new in slot 2?

I saved the player dying on a disc USB external, and done the checkdisk for several hours.

New drive (WD) Acronis, so hopefully I can just clone the old drive to the new. But I could always use wise counsel on this part as well.

You need not connect by USB disk. Connection to a free SATA port will be much faster. You need a cloning utility that you can put on a CD or a bootable flash drive, then just select the origin and destination drive.

  • Samsung 830 SSD 256 GB compatible with ThinkPad X220i?

I am considering buying the Samsung 830 SSD 256 GB of disk, but want to make sure that it is compatible with my X220i ThinkPad. I'm sure it is, but I just want to be absolutely sure before you go ahead and spend the money.

With compatible I mean, physically, he'll be back in the TP without problems. Thank you.

According to PSREF, the X220i requires an SSD with these specifications, "SATA 3.0 GB/s, 2.5" wide, 7 mm in height. "All the new SSD sold today run at SATA-III (6 Gb/s) but not all are 7.0 mm thick. As long as the Samsung 830 is 7 mm thick (as opposed to the old 9.5 mm) then it should work perfectly.

Some manufacturers, for example Crucial M4, sell the 7mm and 9.5 mm variants of the same model. If Samsung is similar so make sure that you get the right variant.

Here's my question and need help.  I want to put the upgrade of Windows new 10 on my 500 gig SSD and make the main drive (C :)  Just got new PC and the SSD is not yet installed in the new machine.

Is there a way to do this?  I can install the SSD drive in the pc without problems.  But the pc is set up with the C: drive in the primary.  As I understand it, the update will work, but it will not be for the SSD.

    Suggestions?  Is this possible?

Windows 7 installation will have to be eliminated if its currently on a separate disk. Which means you have to start over.

I would first disconnect the hard drive with your Windows 7 installation.

Install the SSD drive, then install Windows Pro 10 on this subject.

I've used easeus http://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/ succesfully maintaining OEM partitions and recovery.

Since the SSD is not accessible to the user you can void the warranty if you open Notepad.

The SSD can be improved, but you need an SSD 1.8 "mSATA. A standard 2.5 "SATA SSD does not.

If the upgrade process sticks or does not respond to 99%, it is better to wait and do nothing for 5 to 6 hours. If there is still no progress to close the Wizard Windows 10 upgrade, restart the computer and try to upgrade following the tips detailed below.

You are using an ethernet cable or wireless to connect your computer to the router? Wired ethernet is faster and more reliable for large downloads. An ethernet cable is a low-cost purchase.

I have a request for a phone number in my HTML code in my database which is automatically filled with the correct sales phone number when sending emails. I create HTML code in dreamweaver and then put the code in my e-mail program. I need to make the phone number in the clickable query. I know the code to do it well not in a query. What is the code?

As far as I saw, most of the smartphones will automatically recognize it these days, as long as the number is written in a format of regular phone number. This format also allows to make images or text other than a telephone number in a tap to call the link.

Looking at what you have presented I guess it would be something along the lines of...

    urmcell>>">urmcell >

When the location of the link and the link text would be the same variable.

I've never worked with Intelliclick so above is a wild guess. They would be those who need to ask themselves if there is a way to fill in the address of a link like that.

  • put the HARD drive in the optical drive stock

    Hi all

I'm sorry if this is redundant, but I couldn't find the answer to any where or through telephone Support from Lenovo.

I received the W530 with stock 500 GB HARD drive, but I want to replace it with the Pro of 840 Samsung SSD and put the HARD drive in the optical drive. I just restore the image from HARD disc for my SSD orginal (now in the original HARD drive box).

At first I thought that I just leave the HARD drive in the original Bay and use the optical drive for the SSD, but since I use the SSD for the OS, and I want to use the DVD player sometimes, I thought I should put the SSD in original HDD bay and the HARD disk in the optical drive.

I'm sure I've read that a lot of people did it with success, but I do not know much about computers and have never done nothing wise hardwear. I tried to put the HARD drive in the caddy Newmode U.S. optical drive, but it wouldn't fit (the screw on the caddy heads are too big). I think it's because the HARD drive still has the metal casing on it. I am worried, however, that if I remove the caddy, it voids my warranty, and above all, I am wanting to make sure it is the correct and safe way to the stock HARD drive in the optical drive.

I put the rails HARD original on the SSD drive rubber because it is in which Bay but you have no other rails to the HARD drive in the case of the optical drive, and I don't even think he would fit in.

So, it's OK to remove the carriage on the stock of HARD drive and put it in the optical drive without any kind of rails or protection (but attach it to the optical drive with the supplied screws caddy)? I think that's what I have to do anyway with the SSd, if she had to go into the optical drive.

I am also an upgrade of RAM, but the keyboard under the bottom access RAM screw is stripped, so I can't remove the original RAM (it is under keyboard) and use the optimal 0 and DIMM slot installation 1. Any ideas?

Thanks for your time, and once again, sorry if this is very basic.

Change hard drives and memory do not void the warranty.

The DSS must be installed exactly as the original HARD drive was, with rails caddy and rubber.

The HARD drive in DVD case must be inserted with the 4 screws with the caddy, nothing else.

To remove the stripped screw, you must use the small (jeweller preference) needle clamp with extreme caution, or slowly drop the screw head to create a new location. The second option is more dangerous because it produces small deposits of metal. If you can't do it yourself, ajeweller could do this easily for you.

    Good luck!
