  As much as I know a lot of third-party RAM module are not recognized correctly. In my opinion, you should change it and check Toshiba or Kingston RAM module because this module are tested with Toshiba units. Otherwise contact the store you purchased this module and explain the problem to them. If they ensure that it works they must be able to give an explanation.

  I have Satellite 1900 and last year, I had a similar problem. To save my money, I ordered a cheap package and it was a bad idea. I sent it back and ordered from Toshiba. It was a little more expensive, but it works perfectly.

  Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
  ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
  contacts data with a pencil eraser.

  Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and

  I read your post on the issue with the laptop won't start does not and wanted to help you!  I understand that the screen is damaged and you are using the external monitor to view the screen.  However, now that the laptop does not start, you can see is more of the external screen to see what is happening.

  From my understanding, you should not be able to see an image on the external monitor, until you start the operating system.  You can try to perform a system restore by using this document:

  You may be able to follow along, long enough until the image is displayed on the external monitor.  Otherwise, you can contact HP support by phone, for additional options.

  A few months ago, as the battery, the loading of the laptop has stopped, and the laptop was not any more recognized battery icon (like the battery is not connected) so I had to use the laptop plugged in all the time but not biggie.

  But last week the laptop does not work at all. Even plugged in, there are no more than 5 seconds. I opened it and noticed a problem on the cable connecting the charger to the motherboard. On the cable is cut (the black one).
