Why tech Windows asking to enter "essoc?

Someone called who pretends to be a Windows tech and telling me that my computer sends message to them, that I am infected with multiple viruses. They had a strong Indian accent and I acted dumb and would not comply with their demands to open the CMD box and enter "essoc" then press ENTER. Sounded very fishy then left hanging. This in some way give them access to my computer? Is that a different type of scam? If this is the case, hope that it's posted around.

essoc is not a valid Windows XP or command file. Maybe you're wrong.

Yes, it's a scam and MS strives to educate consumers on this page...

  • Why my windows ask me to upgrade my printer to a USB 2.0 port?

I run Windows XP on three computers with all HP laser printers connected through USB 1.x ports.  Whenever the printer sits idle for a longer period of time (don't know what it is) the printer does not print.  Then I turn the printer off and back on again and then it will print and give me the message that this printer could function more quickly via a USB 2.0 port.  None of the PC have a connected USB 2.0 port.  This process is then repeated at least 3 times a day.

I tried to use the printer utility and reset to the default printer and the message continues to rise, so I don't think it's a matter of HP.  This issue just started a couple of months.

Any who have the same problem or have a resolution that they tried?  Thanks in advance.

  • Why Windows asked to format a blank DVD when I try to paste some content copied in it?

    Original title: DVD DL

I have about 14 hours. the video that I burned on DVD - DL (6) (and saved in the folder) using my video editing software.

I want to copy/paste again blank DVD + R DL rather than wait for the 1 1/2 to 2 hours. It takes to burn using my software.

I insert a burned disc, click on copy, then insert a disc DVD + R DL Virgin and dough, and the computer says I need to format the drive until I can copy over it.

If I am able to write to the disc on the same computer, why can't copy and paste without formatting? I took the disk already in the right format so I am able to burn on it.

Welcomed ideas on what is happening.

Normally, your burning software will take care of the formatting.  In this case, Windows asks the process.  By formatting the disk, the computer will be able to recognize data.

Why when istalling acrobat 8 fact windows ask a vista cd?

    Hello

It seems to me that the Installer Search AdobePDF.dll.

If so, then when it asks you to insert the CD of Vista to find AdobePDF.dll,

go to the AdobePDF.dll_64 of Data1. CAB file that is included in the Adobe install the files on the disc.

Copy the file on your system and rename AdobePDF.dll and point the installer of this file.

Back in the case of any problems.

This file is a newer DirectX file (Feb 2010) not listed is not in the out-of-the-box DirectX, which is part of Windows 7 (July 2009). • Why is windows XP so slow

is it because it comes with so many programs and files?

    Thank you

Without information about your hardware configuration and installation of the software - it is unclear why * your * Windows XP installation can be slow.

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

  • New hard drive and cloning Windows asking for the password and end the session

    Hi all

Need help please. I just bought a Cavior of WD 1 TB hard drive. I have used Norton Ghost to clone my old hard drive again. Then I removed the old hard drive and another to start the system. Currently, Windows XP was asked to enter the password (in my old drive hard, there is no password entry required). When I press ENTER, the windows log.

Also, I tried to log in after you have set a password using ERD Commander (locksmith). I get the same result, that is to say Windows log off after entering the password.

I am at a loss on how to proceed from here. I do not have the CD Windows XP that I bought this computer a few years and did not remember receiving the Windows XP CD. I don't have the product key which is glued on the computer case.

Help, please. I have to activate Windows again?

Ghost allows you to create a backup "Image", and then restore the image to the new disk.
