  Actually, even if you get executables run again - you can be (read as "will be") better off the coast of a new facility.  Wipe and install media with your product key and other serial numbers and installation for other products media you own and restore your last recognized reliable backup for your files.

  My computer is upward, slow-running and my mouse will just randomly stop left click. I can switch the service so click right not left click function, but then cannot do the right click function. I had created a restore point before installing a program called Cain and Abel on my computer and it was just a couple of days.

Then my computer froze so I restarted it and selected "System Recovery" and tried to do a restore to the point that I had created before that Cain has been installed.   64 bit Vista system restore family premium stops and restarts as it works, but after it restarts, it always says it cannot restore. GM5420, G965 express processor and directx 11 or 10 and I run Avast Anti-virus.  My SR = system restore has worked for many years and now the past 3-4 months whenever I need it, it starts as usual, but at the end it says error could not change your system. No file or folder have been changed.  The only thing I can think is around the same time, 3 to 4 months ago, I found and started using some utilities to clean up my computer.  I have 4 different services who clean things different from vitsa. I wonder if 1 of deleted then a file that I need to use SR?  And if not how can I repair my vista then SR woeks again? Thank you

He worked as my messenger hotmail from microsoft that works very well. I uninstalled yahoo messenger and reinstalled several times but each time that nothing works. I can sign but can't click on anything. A s error message opens and says can not find the web yahoo page you are looking for. I really need my email yahoo to work right as my hotmail works very well.  I wonder if its my IE9 that something has changed there and now yahoo of just work, I don't know just a guess. • System Restore won't work afer receive (0xc0000017) error message at startup

  After installing Secure Backup of Comcast and start the first download of data, my XP Pro SP3 PC started running more and more slow and became insensitive to the point where I had to use the power switch to kill the system. Until I stopped him, Secure Backup never completed and pops up a message saying that he is stopped before the end because he has lost the internet connection. I was using a browser at the time and had no problems to access the internet.

  Upon reboot, I got a message saying that Windows was corrupted and needed a DSKCHK. He appeared to remove some files and then began to start Windows but never had no more away than to show my paper withouit painted all of the icons or taskbar. So it was impossible to do anything. I rebooted and got into safe mode with the idea of uninstalling Secure Backup, but was not allowed to do safe mode. I then tried to do a system restore, safe mode and in the place where you choose the date of the restoration, I can not select (highlight) a date for the restoration.

  Any ideas on how to get out of this mess?

  UPDATE: (25/05/2010)

  After many hours on the phone with a Microsoft technician, we had to do a fresh install of XP on a different partition. Apparently, there was a lot of problems; issue of Tech with Comcast Secure Backup, chkdsk deleted or quarantined dozens of critical files from the XP operating system and for some unknown reason, the partition on my disk was almost full; 1 GB of 20 or more in a few days earlier... !  So everything is fine now, but I now reorganize my partitions and many files in them to make it similar to what existed before the "troubles"...

  The issue is closed...
