Why usually importing Photos ALL of my photos from iPhoto

I have a large collection of pictures which I was very happy with my iPhoto app, Apple published the Photos that looks like a nice piece of software, but whenever I try to use it, it will not copy all photos on, forever young: a few hundred, it just won't take them, I even found the pictures and tried to import them manually but it used.  Personally I would rather continue to use iPhoto, but I know that someday I'll have to go to Photos, anyone know the best way to avoid this from happening?

Sorry, but say us you have a problem with no details don't give anyone anything to work with - you must provide details since we can not see you

What software you have on your device IOS and Mac (version)?

What are the iCloud settings do you have on each device?

Where are these pictures that are being missed? Why don't manually import you them? Which exact error message do you get?

  • How to import photos from iPhoto to the Photos without losing the date structure

    Hey there,

Today, I realized that not all my photos to the Macintosh iPhotos Photos last year. At this point, I'm missing about 700 photos.

Is it possible to merge the iPhoto to the existing photo library library while keeping the structure of date? I tried just to drag some photos but they then imported as if they were taken today.

If possible, I want to keep the date structure so that all the photos that were taken at the same time will remain together.

Export images from iPhoto to the Finder, and then import them to Photos.

    File-> edit

    This trick of the user

    https://discussions.Apple.com/docs/doc-4921

a details of the options in the export dialog.

    Ignore the file date.

There are two types of metadata involved considering the jpeg or other image file.

One is the data file. That's what shows the Finder. That tells you nothing about the content of the file, just the file itself.

The problem with the metadata file is that it is easy to change the file is moved from one place to another or exported, by electronic mail, downloaded, etc.

Photographs have also obtained the Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera broken that the photo is saved in the Exif metadata. Without worrying if that said the date of the file, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.

Applications of photo like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc. get their date and time of the Exif metadata.

When you export from iPhoto to the new Finder file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The file date is reported - exactly - the date of export.

However, does not change the Date of the Photo.

The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.

Thus, your photo has the correct date and the file does, but these are different things. To perform a sort on the date of the Photo, you will need to use a photo app.

  • Cannot import photos from iPhoto to 9 elements Organizer

I am organizing running 9 items on my MacBook Pro. When I run the command file/Get pictures and videos / iPhoto, I get the error message, "there no media to import from iPhoto. In fact, I have thousands of photos in iPhoto that I would like to import Organizer so that I can edit them in Elements 9.

I can also edit pictures in the elements placing him as default editor in iPhoto. When I do that, it opens items but does not open the photo in iPhoto.

When I do that, it opens items but does not open the photo in iPhoto.

This usually means that you have chosen the wrong file as the external editor. In PSE 9, you want than this one. The other is an alias for the home screen and choose one causes the behavior you described:

How can I import the photos in "photos"? My macbook program has no iPhotos only "photos."

    Hi Anne,.

Currently, it is not possible to directly import Photos. You need to export media from the Photos app on hard drive and then import them into the Organizer.

  • Problem importing photos from camera to Lightroom

I have creative cloud for photographers, it s installed on my iMac and my MacBook Air. I use Lightroom to import photos from the camera. A few days ago I wanted to import photos on the MacBook, but after a while everything stopped, no photos have been imported, and after waiting a while, I gave up. Tried again after a while but then received the message that read files couldn t. It worried me a lot because I was afraid the memory card may have been damaged, but I tried to import photos to the iMac instead, and it was no problem. After that I tried to import more photos from different cameras for the MacBook, but nothing works. The iMac - no problem. I tried to uninstall Lightroom, but it has not been possible. In the creative app cloud, it is possible to uninstall Photoshop, no problem, but with Lightroom, it says "cannot be uninstalled" - on the iMac and MacBook.

Since I travel a lot in a few days, it s essential to own a Lightroom running on my MacBook. I usually import photos from the device several times a day, so without a LR that works, it will be much more difficult...

Any help will be very appreciated!

Now, I need to check the destination folder...

You need to determine the destination folder that is defined in the Lightroom Import dialog box (which can be only the folder that it is), then check the permissions on this folder.

  • How to add photos from iphoto to imovie

I want to create a slideshow of paintings with a musical background. My 'paintings' is as JPEGs into iPhoto, and my music track is in Garage Band or iTunes. When I go to iMovie to start a project, it shows not possible to import photos from iphoto, but only these photos taken using "photo booth".

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

If you click windows, and then click OK for Media you should find the iPhoto library under library.  You can then open an event and select a photo.

You don't have to do anything.  When you open your iPhoto library with the new photo app that the existing library is migrated to a new library of Photos.  However, as with any operation should have a current backup before proceeding.

  • I bought a new computer, installed LR5 and import photos from a remote hard drive. Photos is finer, but all my Collections disappeared.  Is there a way to retrieve my Collections?

I bought a new computer, installed LR5 and import photos from a remote hard drive. Photos is finer, but all my Collections disappeared.  Is there a way to retrieve my Collections?

The Collections are stored in the LR catalog. If you had previously copied to your catalog on the other computer to the new all your collections would have been there.

Now that you have the images on the new computer, 'IF', they were placed in the same folder structure (IE even the folder names and locations) then copy through the original catalogue "should" include your collections. If they are in the names of different folder or on a different drive letter or name of the player, then you might be able to use the feature to locate Images to find them.

  • Recently impossible to import Photos from the digital camera or iPhone device

In the past, whenever I have one of my digital cameras or an iPhone connected to my PC (Dell Inspiron 530 running on Windows Vista), the import box would jump to the top, I'd choose to import photos and everything worked without problem.  Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but recently I uninstalled Norton Internet Security 2007 and installed Norton 360 and since then I'm unable to download pictures from my digital camera (Canon Powershot SD950 IS) or my iPhone.  The box "import photos" don't jump (it always did before), and when I go to the Picasa or Windows Photo Gallery and try to "import from camera", it tells me there is no connected device (this happens when the iPhone or the Canon camera is plugged).  And instead of the pealing sound, my PC would usually do when a device is correctly spiked, he made three low knock-type noises, as if to say the device was not properly read.  Interestingly, the iPhone still synchronizes / charges, etc., but I can't get on the photos.  I spent some time chatting with Norton Customer Support, because this issue has started only after that I installed Norton 360, but we have uninstalled Norton 360 (re - installed since) and the problem continued.  I tried several ports, and because this problem has affected at the same time my iphone and a digital camera, that work with any other son and USB ports, I'm pretty sure that this is not something simple like a bad port or wire.  I don't know if it's a matter of updating Windows Vista or what.  So now I'm scratching my head...

    Hi BklnMick,

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of Windows Vista.

I need more information to help you better.

    1. do you think any drive new withdrawal created on the desktop once you connect your digital camera or Iphone?

2 have you tried to reinstall/update drivers for the digital camera or Iphone?

    3. you see a new message of material found during the connection digital camera or Iphone?

    4. are there any other devices (such as mouse, keyboard, printer etc.) connected to the machine?

If you are sure that the problem started after installing an application, you can try to perform a system restore on the computer to a previous date when you when it is able to import photos from your digital camera or your Iphone. You can follow the article give:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/936212

You can also try to power on the machine cycle to drain static electricity that may have built up on the USB ports.

    1. turn of the computer.

    2. disconnect all devices from the CPU.

    3. hold the power button for every 30secs.

    4. connect all devices to the machine.

5 restart the computer and check if the USB begin to operate.

Hope the above information helps. Please post back and we do know.

    Thank you & best regards

  • How can I use iPhoto importing photos from card reader?

Aloha all, I really prefer to use iPhoto, or opening when importing photos from card, but Photos opens whenever I put in my camera card. In the preferences of the Photo, the choice to select what app to use when importing is gray. How can I make iPhoto, or even simply to capture Image open rather than Photos? I put iPhoto preferences to do this, but it seems pictures somehow overrides it. Tips, tips out there? Mahalo

Try to set the default application to open the General preferences in iPhoto window:

Do you know that iPhoto is no longer supported by Apple print shops so that all projects must be created and controls through Photos?  Just a heads-up.

If the above does not work, you can kill all apps to open when a camera is connected with the following command in the Terminal application, posted by JadedEye:

Re: Prevent DEFINITELY the Photos to open automatically

    in response to leonie

OK, it worked for me on El Cap

    Open a terminal window

Type the following in the terminal and press enter

defaults write currentHost - com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug - bool YES

(followed by the return key or enter - ed)

    The exit of the terminal.

Photos will run if you run, but it will not autolaunch on each connection to a camera or the card or reformatted the card.

If you want to return Photos auto-launch almost everything, use the same command change YES no

This correction has set my workflow back to normal without Photos of gd lance all the time.

You must then manually run the application that you want to use with the memory card or camera.

Your iPhone shows in iTunes or in the Image Capture?

If iPhone doesn't appear at all, make sure it is properly loaded and unlocked, disconnecting, take a new photo, then reconnect it.

    • Start iTunes and confirm that you agree with the mac, the prompt on the iPhone.
    • Try a different USB port.
    • Try to force reboot the iPhone.
