How can I get rid of this threat?

    Hi Leeds,

It seems that AVG detects C:\sccfg.sys as virus, if you scan and delete, it will appear after each reboot.

Let's run the virus scan in safe mode with networking:

Check out this link to start your computer in safe mode with networking:

A description of the options to boot in Safe Mode Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222

After starting in safe mode with network, virus using AVG anti-virus scanner.

With AVG Anti-virus, perform a full scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

    Refer to this link:

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • Black screen with mouse pointer count on reboot after installing SP3

I tried to install Service Pack 3 on a PC running XP Home Edition (new installation).

Although Microsoft Update has finished installing SP3 and the computer reboots, I get the XP installation screen base with the message "Please wait...". ", which disappears after a few seconds, leaving me with a black screen with only the mouse pointer.

The mouse pointer moves then the PC broke down, well that no matter how long I leave nothing happens.

I tried to uninstall SP3 and do it again (when I Uninstall SP3, Windows starts very well) and also uninstall SP3 as well as my Antivirus and try the installation again. But whenever I'm just left whit black screen.

Try to update with the custom option.  I had problems like this before.  Usually you are missing a driver or something of this kind that makes you hang.  To update while the custom option, with the exception of SP3.  Reboot several times the installation of updates with the "Custom" option  Once all updates have been installed except SP3, you can try SP3 and see what happens.  This usually takes care of it when I have the same problem. Here's my situation.  I created a toolbar on the taskbar of a folder on a network drive.  The fine created toolbar and icons of shortcuts/work.  I propose the shortcuts/icons in the order I want and lock the taskbar.  The order will stay like that until I logoff or restart. As soon as I did this all the shortcuts/icons resorted themselves by name in alphabetical order with folders first.  How can I stop station on reboot/logoff, I want to keep the shortcuts/icons in order that I put them in?  Thank you. Michael

I don't think it's possible because it deals with the taskbar as a folder and those defined to sort according to certain criteria (in alphabetical order by default).  Yes, I know it can be done in the Quick Launch toolbar and it retains the new boot boot settings - but I don't know if this is possible with the creation bar toolbars task (I don't think).

Maybe somebody else knows how (maybe with a registry change) but I don't thnk - but it is certainly possible. even if unlikely.

    Hi Jerry,

You have a dual-boot option on your computer?

Locate the service associated with the restoration of the system or Volume Shadow Copy Service is started after the computer is restarted. This service can be stopped by some viruses as well, so you can try to run a scan of your computer.

    To check the service

    1. click on start

    2. in the start search box, type Services

    3. click right on - RUN as ADMINISTRATOR

Check if the below mentioned services has mentioned State and type start.

Also check the dependency services that are required for the System Restore Service run.

To verify that double-click the service, and click the Dependencies tab.

This service must be started before the restore point is created automatically or manually.
