My boss has problems on start-up & shut down windows xp. Tried restoring the system, but since the shutdown/restart had to be done by a hard judgment that interrupted the restoration process. It was originally a message from missing ddl file (didn't write it :() and now I do not get this message a solution.)
Please keep in mind, I'm not a tech guru but can generally follow the specific instructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
mj1883,
If you start in Safe Mode , the problem persists. If so then I suggest to start with the implementation of a clean boot. You can also run Chkdsk /r and sfc/scannow. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

Windows 7 will not Shutdown and then blue screens
I got this laptop (Satellite A660-18) last week for work and after I installed all the updates of Windows 7 that it would be closed. Help, please! There are a lot of people have reported a similar problem, but none of their solutions seem to work (ie. re-installing the BIOS).
I am very excited to hear from someone!
Andy

Satellite P850 - Windows 8 will not restart properly
Does anyone know why Windows 8 will not restart correctly on the laptop Satellite P850?
It seems that whenever I have to restart, especially after the installation of an update, it crashes right on the screen of "Reboot" and I usually find myself having to hold the power button down to completely stop and then turn upwards again. Sometimes, I still have to do to make it stop.
I would be very grateful for any help that anyone can give me please.

Windows 7 will not recognize the dvd drive
Windows 7 will not recognize the dvd drive, although it worked well for more than two years. Now I can't access it to install new software.
It will not be displayed in the Device Manager, bad shooters to say it is not connected or is, tried Fixit fix (could not as "not applicable to your computer update"), uninstall iTunes (in the case of a conflict - even if it worked with the DVD of > 1 year), etc., but still cannot access the DVD.
It's obviously a known issue, given that a support page - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976187 that recommends the fix or manually disable ALPM active power management. If it of a known issue, why is not included in the updates and that I have to disable ALPM power if management it worked ok before?
What now? Is turn off the power, my only option? What happens if it is not yet recognized after that?

Windows Vista will not download
Help. My HP G50 will start but the Windows Vista will not download. I pressed the keys F 10 and 11 F. The memory is good. I backed up my files using the F 11 Save function. I tried to go back to an earlier date using System Restore, no results. Can reset the computer by default, there is work in the F 11 key and then recover my files. Do I need a recovery disk?
Thanks for the reply. I made the. Backup of files Wizard. At the end she asks 'Please insert the USB key' - I suppose to download files on an external drive. Well I bought an external drive and connect it to the USB port, nothing happens. He said only: "no available drive. What should I do now. I did all the steps, according to HP said on their site of troubleshooting online and this is the last step. I will not buy an HP again. A friend recommends a Sony.

The failure of DST short is normally indicative of a hard drive that has failed and must be replaced.
The operating system and the software can be reinstalled using recovery discs that you made or purchased from HP.
In order to use the recovery disks, you need to replace the hard drive with one of the same storage capacity or more.

See if the system can update now. If no joy, run it again with the system connected to the internet, in aggressive mode. Turn it back on.
