Win 8.1 update hosed my laptop

Hello

A few weeks ago, I was invited on my HP ENVY TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx (C2K73UA) with auto-update to 8.1 wins.  I agreed and now my computer will not start, and he made it unusable.

It tries to start but then everything becomes black forever.

How can I get it back?  It is not hard drive, I have no boot disk or any way to try to force a reboot.  Any ideas?  Please help me!

I hope that you have backed up your data. As in copy all your personal files, such as music, photos, videos, and software.

If you have done this, you can try pressing F11 at the HP logo to perform the recovery.

Note that recovery clears / deletes all your personal files and I wouldn't recommend it if you have not saved your data.

  • Win 7 Pro update freezes, error 0 x 80070057

    I am rebuilding a laptop with Windows 7 Professional. The system has since reconstruction, frozen trying to analyze the system through the Windows Update process.  It is a reconstruction of the system in order to clear a Win 10 unwanted update.

    So far, I did the following:

    -Updated Windows Update for the latest version,

    -Run the update utility manual rebuild successfully;

    -Launch Windows Update Fixit repeatedly; It gives me a 0 x 80070057 unresolved error almost every time. When it fails, the update process still does not work and returns the error;

    -Check the registry settings with regedit; There is no entry in the Windows Update of WKLM section with the error indicated, and a search of the registry shows no other parameters with this error.

    -A tried to perform the loading process of manual update for the massive update (KB3125574); This has exactly the same symptoms; It hangs and never ends with a 24-hour window;

    -Run the utility of registry error correction; He returned without errors.

    I did a number of other things as well. But the update continues to crash. Can anyone offer advice on what I could try, or I could do?  Assistance would be appreciated.

    Thanks Richard for the update.

  • Updated new brand laptop BIOS battery work?

    I don't know if this message was in the jury of right or topic, but I don't see any that match more than that.

    Two years ago, I bought a Compaq Presario with Windows 7 from Walmart. When I bought the House, I have only a test to see if the computer works, something is missing, etc. (the battery does not work). So I use it for a month and when I turn it back on, the battery is defect and I can't charge my cell phone (I don't really know if it is default, but I'm sure that I can not load). Now, Wal-Mart return date has expired, I used my cell phone by connecting the adapter to the electrical outlet for two years without getting my laptop to charge again.

    Then recently, an update fix this. If you use computers HP or Compaq, according to me, there is one happened software preinstall called support of HP management or something like that (the program of HP with an icon of a blue circle with a question mark). Just Tuesday, he me say (not Windows Update, the one HP) to install updates. Some of them include BIOS HP. I agree and after installing the updates, restart my laptop. Then a screen I never see before appear, saying: the computer is rewriting of new blocks of BIOS. After that, another reboot, then my laptop starts normally. But I can see the battery status (who previously said "plugged and load" with a red X mark on it) now says "0% available plugged and charge." Let my computer like that for a certain period of time, and the laptop battery has been fully charged.

    My question is what is a BIOS of a computer? How to reconcile with just an update, it sets a battery problem I think only external fix (like opening the laptop and attach the wires) or change the battery will help? I still don't understand this topic, you must replace another battery or made sure he was properly put in the laptop to make it work (I already tried these options). But how can an update fixed that, as the battery fault was caused by errors of the computer. While my laptop was fine once again, I want just to know the answers to the two questions above. Thank you.

    Hello knguyen7,

    Welcome to the community.

    BIOS is the software that allows the material to talk with other software on your computer. Here is a link that goes into detail about the BIOS.

    Regarding the update of the problem setting, the BIOS said software for the battery being charged, or the battery has been removed so that the computer was never going to charge the battery.

    Let me know if it helps.

    Nice day.

    My date and time settings are set in Egypt and whenever updates of the laptop with microsoft server time, it increases of 1 h.
    Recently in Egypt, changes of daylight has been cancelled and I guess that's the cause of the problem!
    Any ideas?

    If time was recently cancelled, you can go to your control panel:
    Panel-> data and time-zone (tab) >
    and uncheck the "automatically adjust clock for daylight saving time.

    Otherwise, you probably need to adjust your zone settings on your computer using Microsoft time zone Editor.

    I have the product key for Win 7 Home Premium OA on laptop - I need to re - install due to virus, how can I get a copy?

    See the response of Mike Hall, but also, note the following:

    What virus do you have? How do you know if you're a? Reinstalling Windows due to a virus is almost never required and is usually exaggerated way. It is normally much easier and much less likely to cause you problems if you delete the virus with a good antivirus program.

  • ENVY 17 t: last update of HP has hosed my laptop

    Hello

    I recently installed several updates from the HP Support Assistant and unfortunately, I can't use some of my applications.  Specifically, I tried to use MODO 902 sp1 (it's the Foundry 3D modeling software) and after double-clicking on the icon my computer freezes and then crashes.  No BSOD, but it just won't load, the interface of Windows becomes useless, except for my mouse I can still move around.  I tried to reinstall the software and even tried a downgrade to an earlier version (MODO 901 sp1) but with the same result.  I tested to see if Pixologic ZBrush 4R7 sp3 works and it loads fine, so I don't know what is happening.  I should note that MODO was working fine before this last update of HP, but I suspect that something got REALLY fubared during installation.

    In any case, I can tell you what updates have been installed in the event log:

    Updated HP Notebook System BIOS (Intel processors)

    Driver and Intel Chipset Installation utility

    Intel Extensions (SGX) device driver software keeps

    Driver Bluetooth Intel for Microsoft Windows 10

    Driver Audio Realtek High-definition (HD)

    Sensor of fingerprint reader fingerprint validity

    Power Media Player

    My specific machine is a HP ENVY 17 t-n100, number of product L8X51AV

    One last thing, when I try to use the HP Web site to identify my machine, it keeps giving me a message to try again, saying that it is not plugged in (which is absurd because it has just detected what kind of HP product that I use).

    Is there a chance that I could somehow push these updates?  The only other possibility I can think of is an update of Windows 10 screwed something since I saw the last time it checked for something again was last night around 11: 30ish or more.

    Thank you for your quick response.

    PS - It's the second question in less than two months since I got this laptop.  The first had to deal with a faulty motherboard which was replaced.  I never had such problems with HP products before (this is my 3rd laptop from them), that I explain why I am surprised by the amount of problems I'm having now.

    Release a little busy last week, but I would like to report this incident as having been resolved.  For some reason, I need to detach my two monitors to my laptop and reset the connection.  I only found it by chance that I had brought my laptop to work to show one of my colleagues the questions I had.  However, everything loaded up and there is no frost.  When I got home, I reconnected my monitors and everything works fine since.  Can't believe, it turns out to be something so trivial, but I guess it was the only way to get the display output working properly again.

  • Since Win 8.1 update by Satellite C855 2HW turns off

    Greetings,

    Well, June 2013 I bought my C855 2HW Satellite with 8 Windows as an operating system.
    The laptop worked smoothly until December 2013, I got Windows updates 8.1.

    Since then, every day (sometimes several times a day) the laptop turns off, the Windows automatic recovery feature is launched and the message "Windows could not be started as it should, a recovery of the system is necessary.".

    I have this problem now for four weeks and every time I have to install software, because the system is set to an earlier recovery point.

    I hope someone can help me get rid of this problem.
    My sincere thanks in advance.

    Stefan

    Hello

    It would be interesting to know how you installed / upgraded to Win 8.1 System.
    Have you followed the instructions step by step from Toshiba for updating the 8.1 to win correctly?

    I mean this statement:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/windows8_1-upgrade-stepbystep/

    I did it with my Toshiba laptop and I must say: no problems so far

    In addition, do not forget to install/update drivers Win 8.1 provided by Toshiba
    On the driver Toshiba UE (8.1 Win update) page, you will find the Setup instructions for pilots Win 8.1. It shows you the drivers and tools that need to be deleted, updated or installed again.

    I'm sure that the laptop would be fine where the 8.1 Win update to operate properly.

    Hello

    A few weeks ago I've updated my Adobe Reader XI to 11.0.07 on my laptop using 8.1 to win... And since then, some parts of the computer program you want really oversized to the rest text for example. For example my note seems gigantic, so I can't read them all it (and he of doent matter if I use underlining or any other style of notes), also buttons 'Comments tool, Signieren,' and the MenuBar of hole. It's really awful to work with this point of view, more than anything, I will have only a screen 13 "on my laptop.

    How can I change this or is there any possibility to change? I will be happy if receive little help. If I can't change it I'll have to use another software for the job at the University, because it's really boring.
