Window hotfix QFE 960884

How long Windows Vista hotfix QFE 960884 must run?  I downloaded last night at 23:00 and it is still running at 10:38 the next day.  I don't know if I should stop it or what.  Help, please.

Hello

·        Why do you run this fix?

·        Where did you download this fix?

As I see that the hotfix QFE 960884 is a hotfix Windows Vista from the HP website.

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/WC/softwareDownloadIndex?LC=en&DLC=en&CC=US&Product=3872045&OS=2100&softwareitem=PV-78523-2&sw_lang=

Stop the hotfix and check what is happening.

After that download the hotfix that is present in this Microsoft article below and turn the system on boot and then run the fix and verify.

Step 1:

Step 2:

I suggest to run the patch as administrator and check to see if the fix works great. Follow the steps mentioned in the article below.

How to apply once with a full administrator access token?

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/how-do-I-run-an-application-once-with-a-full-administrator-access-token

Note: Once you have finished installing, follow step 7 to start the computer in normal startup.

Thanks and regards.

Acording to KB897225 , you can use the registry to force updates to fix Internet Explorer to install the QFE versus files an update/patch LDR branch

    1. Click Start , click run , type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK .
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

3 Goto automatic updates in Control Panel, check "notify me but don't automatically download or install.

If your PC behaves properly, you can remove the hidden Windows hotfix backup files that start with $NTUninstallKB to the WINDOWS folder. There are two ways to do:

    A. manually, but copy files on a CD/DVD first to enable their restoration has a fix must be removed thereafter. Now delete the folder \WINDOWS, but leaves the orphan entries to add / remove programs intact. Remove only the $NTUninstallKB files that relate to corrections, not those for applications such as Word, WMP, etc.. In addition, DO NOT DELETE THE folder$ $hf_mig.

    B. my preference goes to run a script that also removes the corresponding entries in Add / Remove programs. Once they are deleted by the script, they cannot be restored. Download, extract and run this little scripthttp://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_hotfix_backup.htm creating a system restore point first just in case something goes wrong when the update of the register.

  • Migration Windows 32-bit to 64-bit Linux and fix missing 10.2.0.4.12P

I'm migrating a 10.2.0.4 database of 32-bit Windows to 64-bit Linux. I use OPatch to ensure that the RDBMS software is at the same level and have found I have patch #7522473 (10.2.0.4.12P) installed in my house Oracle Windows but not Linux. I can't find the Linux 64-bit equivalent. Any idea where I could find this?

The 'P' in the way patch number is platform-specific. Windows patch bundles are completely different from the rest of the platforms supported, like for Windows patches are merged into the bundle and binary are precompiled, there is no unique pieces for the Oracle executable files. For other platforms, Oracle releases the files objects that solve a problem specific and executable are reprinted in the moment with them. If this patch is in conflict with some other exceptional items, you request a merge or wait for a power supply. This means have probably Oracle under Windows in perfect synchronization with Oracle everywhere else patch-wise - you do not have control on which patches are included in clusters of Windows patch and there may be cases where the batch of Windows hotfixes merges some one-offs for which no merger is on other platforms.

And Jean Valentine advice is correct: patch to 10.2.0.5 then to CPUJan2011.

  • How to build a trail of new patches of all available software patches?

    I have a Toshiba portable computer Satellite 5200 801!

Is there a description how to create a new file of slipstream with all hotfixes available at the time?
Or better apply that corrects for the "Toshiba Recovery installation CD" in Swedish, it is called "Produktaterstallnings CD-ROM"?

Windows Update is very slow, it took me more than a few days to run "Windows Update" due to very slow download.

It must be possible to create a CD slipstream with all this set to the current date if the recovery should take only hours and not days to restore the laptop.

Better it would be possible to recreate the installation cd.

I found links howto do this with a CD original Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2.

I started this download yesterday and that you have installed Service Pack 2 and now it is downloaded after that starting 21 updates per KB886185.

I really want to avoid to make this next period of recovery!

    Hello

I solved this problem by making my own image. To do this, I use Norton Ghost 2003 application. After installation of the Os and the installation of SP2, I made my own operating system configuration.

What makes my own image I have to redo this procedure. The image is recorded on the second partition and I can reinstall the unit every time startup application Ghost. As you know the brand of Windows Update automatically and with time he no longer installed hotfix QFE.

Now I decided to make image every three or four weeks, and on this path, it is not necessary to reinstall all components over and over again. Two months ago, I had a virus attack. I reinstalled the unit with this image and after 20 minutes I was able to use the device again with all the stuff I need.

In my opinion, it's longer than how fast and to be sure that your device can always be used without spending a lot of time to install all the necessary components or applications.

    Good bye
