Windows 10 opens Acrobat documents in some miserable programs

We define default of the computer for pdf on our Acrobat X Pro.  But, almost every morning, we need to restore the default value.  How do we set the default value for good!  Windows 10 is NOT winning friends in our office.

You should be aware that Acrobat X is not compatible with Windows 10, so this kind of problems is to be expected.

    You have a false entry in one of your startup locations.

    First, click Start > all programs > startup and see if there is an entry that would open up My Documents.

    If you can't find the entry in the startup folder, download and run Autoruns.  Let it complete the scan (shown bottom left), then click the 'connection '.  Look at the entries and the beginning my Documents should be obvious.  Remove the line or uncheck the box at the beginning of the line (if you think you might ever want to reactivate this entry).

    The file that you downloaded requires an appropriate program to open it in Windows. That's why I suggest to check again if you have installed the reader program and also check if you have downloaded the appropriate Center books.

  • Can not get a window when opening Acrobat Reader

    When you open Adobe Acrobat V2015.010.20056 on a MacPro OS10.9.5 running, no window is present and no files can be opened. I have a Macbook air with OS Yosemite anr the same version on this unit works properly.

    I have pdf files that will be opened with Acrobat DC application which is part of the suite CC.  I deleted the existing DC Acrobat application that was on my computer and then reinstalled it from the Adobe Web site.  The same problem is present.  I can open the Acrobat V2015.101.20056 directly and without window is present, and if I use the file menu and choose a well known file, nothing happens.  Less than a week ago. the app installed Acrobat displays the document.

    Update:

    I removed the application Acrobat DC and installed a new copy of Acrobat Reader V11.0.14.  Everything works fine now.  I don't know whence came the Acrobat DC.  When I used the "Get Info" menu and tried to change the app open in Acrobat Reader choice, only the selected file was changed when I said to use the player for all .pdf files.  All other files has always tried to use Acrobat DC, and of course, nothing has been posted.

    Follow this thread to reset the Acrobat preferences:- How to reset preference settings in format Acrobat.

    If you are on Windows OS, open Acrobat, go to the Help menu and repair the installation.

    Please try to uninstall & reinstall the application and check for the same thing.

While some offer programs install both 32-bit and 64-bit as a single installation and the installation of the program checks it should install. A few programs installed 32-bit when I said to use the 64-bit. I received a message that I had a 32 bit OS and that it could not install the 64-bit version. How can I ensure that the 64-bit version is always installed when it is available. I have a program that I need it's 32-bit however.

    I also installed Office 2010 and want to know how to check if it installed 32-bit or 64-bit.
    All this is because I'm about to build a new PC for my wife and want to avoid these problems right at the front with it.

    If you buy a commercial version of win7 you are provided with the installation dvd of bit versions and a unique activation key. You cannot install both versions.

    Most of the programs will install without problem in a 64-bit version of victory, there is very little that will not be installed on Windows 64-bit.

    You install programs as usual, you don't need to change any settings or install to anywhere other than their default locations. -C' IE you do not manually select the x 86 folder or any other folder.

    If the program you are installing has the ability to install a specific version of bit, and it does not work, then the problem is that options program installers, you must contact the program support

    A retail version of Office 2010 also comes with two versions of ILO.

    Having a 64-bit version of victory does NOT mean that you need to install 64-bit Office, in fact MS recommends that stick you with 32-bit Office (reason being compatibility with various plug0ins Office)

    And of course the 32-bit version of win only supports 4 GB of memory

    Thank you for your message.  Please provide comments to a few questions so that we can better help you get your problem solved.
    1. are there recent changes made to your system, namely the hardware or the software?
    2 How long present this problem?
    Here are two methods to try, please try in order.  If a system restore fix the problem, do not perform step 2.
    Step 1:
    Run a system restore to before that was the problem.  Please click the link below to get instructions from system restore.
    Step 2:
    Create and test the new user profile.
    Click 'Start' > right click on 'My computer' > select 'manage '.
    Double-click 'Users and groups' > below, select "users".
    In the pane, right click on the space empty and select 'new user '.
    Enter the identification information you will retain and select OK
    Right-click the user account that you just created, and then select "Properties".
    Select the tab "member of" > click on "add".
    Type Administrators in the field and select "check name".
    Once administrators is added, click OK
    Disconnect and connect again your new account, opening pictures with your new trial account.  You can even browse your other photo folder by going to the following location:
    c:\Documents and Settings\ (user account) \My Documents\My images
    If it works, your profile has been altered somehow.  You can then start to copy your data from your old profile to it.

    Mine is a Microsoft office 2007.  Recently my laptop crashed with a blue screen and told Best Buy Geek Squad to fix, I don't know what they were doing, but they were installed with SP2.

    So, what should I do now.

    Try to understand what you mean by "I don't know what they were doing, but they were installed with SP2.

    If you mean that they re-installed (from scratch) Windows Vista and they have updated completely (to SP2 and beyond), it is a good thing - even, I'll give credit Geek Squad it (to patch the machine).  Believe me - I would never recommend taking anything for the geek team - never.  But if they re-installed the operating system and you allow to know they were going to do * and * they fully patched it too for you - good for them.  However, unless you had the media for Office 2007 and entrusted to them as well as your product key - I can see where they would be unable to install Office 2007 for you.

    If you mean that they re-installed Microsoft Office 2007 for you (for some reason any) and they it patched to SP2 (not SP3 added on 25/10/2011) while it is bad.  Although it would not cause your problems.

    Maybe you have a poor understanding of the products you have.

    • You have Windows Vista.  It is the operating system.  It was made by Microsoft.
    • You have (supposedly) Office 2007.  It is an Office suite.  It was made by Microsoft.

    While your computer * have * reach the time - they are different products and Microsoft do not pack them together in some way or that they have in the past.

    I think you need to do is get your installation together (for Microsoft Office 2007) media and find the product key (for Microsoft Office 2007) and uninstall Microsoft Office and restart and reinstall Microsoft Office 2007 since the installation media and use your product key.

    Then, you will need to install the service pack (SP1, SP2 , and SP3) for Office 2007. And then look for other updates.

    Make sure that Acrobat Reader DC is updated Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader.

    If the problem persists, try the solution below.

    The default "save under" Acrobat/Reader DC dialog box is different from the dialogue box you had in earlier versions of Acrobat/Reader, it also allows you to record in the clouds and previous locations that you saved the files. It is possible that when Acrobat/Reader tries to connect to the 'cloud', it runs into problems. You can try to disable this feature to see if this brings your backup in the back of the box: open Acrobat Preferences, then go to the "General" category and uncheck "show the online storage when you save files:

    Don't think that will work, but you can drag the tab to a new window. Each window can have a set of tabs.
