Windows 7 32-bit Windows Vista

Hello everyone

I have a Satellite A500 - 15M, with a Windows 7 32 bit running on which has been upgraded from Windows Vista 32 - bit by Upgrade DVD from Toshiba sent me in January.

I need to have my Windows 7 64 bit instead of 32 bit. I searched the internet on it, and I discovered that I can't do that unless I have a new copy of Windows, but the only disks I have are the Windows Vista RECOVERY DVD and the DVD of Windows 7 upgrade.

Is it possible to get a new copy of Windows Vista 64-bit of my restore DVD, and then upgrade to Windows 7? Or do I need a DVD of 64-Bit Windows?

I really appreciate your cooperation.

Kind regards
ALA'

Hello

According to specification for laptop, your laptop comes with Vista 32 bit and 64-bit dual boot.
If you have created recovery disks it will be interesting to know how many DVDs to disc you have.

For example, on my Satellite A500-157 I have 4 DVD discs. In other words, I have a recovery disc for 32 and 64 bit Vista. When you start the first DVD, you will be asked which version you want to install.
Please check if it works also with your recovery discs.

If you have this option install Vista 64-bit on your laptop and use subsequently updated DVD and try to upgrade to Win7 64-bit.

If please test and let me know if it works for you.
Based on your response, we will seek the next solution for you.

That of the problem. This action of upgrade is finished a long time ago.

Now it's too late. This upgrade offer is over. If you have Win7 on your laptop, you must purchase Microsoft Win7 disk.

  • Satellite P100: Conexant audio only is not supported on Windows Vista 64-bit

Last week, I install new Windows Vista 64-bit system, but not sound. I think it was the problem with the audio driver 64-bit. Is that someone has the new driver for vista 64-bit?

It seems that some devices are not recognized by Vista common drivers that were shipped with the Vista operating system and therefore the new drivers are needed. But because Vista is not official on the market (official start is late January 2007) drivers are not published.

But where did you get the version of Vista 64-bit?

I found in some old discussions that I should update my bios, so I downloaded most recent bios, and when I tried to update, the pop-up message that I already have this version.

    I did some research and I found some drivers for the 64-bit version - [link to driver | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 152 & selProduct = 746 & selSho rtMod = null & language = 13 & selOS = 27 & selType = all & yearup load = & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = al lMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = all & selectedLanguage = 13 & type = all & page = 1 & ID = 61866 & DISO = 27 & driverLanguage = 13]

But when I do that there is an error message that says that this INF file selected does not support this method of installation.
I tried to install it in safe mode, but the error is the same.

Maybe I should put these drivers in a specific location? If Yes, where?
Who can I install everything first? VAP installation for 32 bit, then driver for 64-bit? Or maybe the other way around?

If someone could write me a clear instruction how step by step, I would be really grateful.

Hmm, I wonder about this sentence
    > I've done some research and I found some drivers for the 64 bit version

What is your laptop model number? Have you chosen the right Toshiba VAP for the right notebook series?

If you have chosen the correct drivers (for the right notebook series) then try to copy the extracted files in the folder of Toshiba Value Package added to programs-> Toshiba-> Toshiba Value added Package.

Then try to run the ini file as described on the page of the European driver Toshiba.

If you use the Toshiba recovery disc then you have no need to reinstall the SATA drivers.
If you use Microsoft disc, you need the SATA drivers.

But if the error message indicates that the installation is complete, then the HARD drive is recognized correctly and you should not have the SATA drivers in such a case.

    > Where can I get the SATA drivers?
It seems that your laptop computer supports the processor AMD and ATI chipset.
Driver graphics card contains the driver for chipset and SATA drivers needed.
The different folder for the graphics driver and the drivers are placed in the folder:
    Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\Filter\NB

    Hello!

What Satellite model do you have?

You cannot install the 32-bit drivers, you need 64-bit. I think 64-bit is not available for a laptop Satellite L but you can search on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

In addition, you can also search on external Web sites for 64-bit drivers.
    For example:

    www.Realtek.com

  • HP HDX Windows Vista 64 bit laptop with error 1002 of the recovery process

    Hello

I have laptop HP HDX which had a sound problem with message of error "Could not play the test tone", tried in several ways by online suggestions and ended to reinstall the new copy with recovery disk. As part of the recovery with a reovery of HP drive, I tried to get it back and it formatted boot partiion and got this error message "error 1002 if the problem persists, please contact HP support. My laptop is out of warranty now.  I talked to HP support and they ask me to buy new drives recovery and someone in this forum mentioned that recovery disk will lift the same mistake and we would need to purchase technical support and even that has not worked for soembody after paying $ 200 to support. I am struck with recovery of the laptop now. I also tried the recovery partition revovering and gave rise to no luck.  I'm now out of warranty.

I am really fedup with bearing on my this laptop windows vista 64 bit HP HDX laptop problems. What is your best suggestion for me to recover my windows vista now?

    Thank you.

    GK

I ordered the drive to restore HP for $ 16 and I have no problem in my OS with this disk recovery. Recovery partition that came with my laptop had this error 1002 and he really tortured than me. It is recovered successfully with this new disc of recovery with on all issues.

I would have saved a lot of time, would not have had any stress and restore ($16) if HP disks price had built the free bug recovery partition.

I'll be very careful in buying HP products in the future.

    Peace out.

  • Reinstalling Windows Vista 32 to 64-bit

First of all I would like clarify how blown away I am by the horrible customer support I received from HP. No support by email after the warranty expires? Never thought I'd see the day.

I would like to reinstall my Windows Vista on a 64 bit system, however I do not have the Windows CD when it is preinstalled on my computer.

    How can I reinstall?

Thanks, hope to hear back soon.

    I'm on a HP Pavilion m8425f

I will try to answer the questions.  I don't know the answers directly, but can give my opinion best for them, or what I read.

    (1) "why is that when you buy a Dell or HP desktop pc, do you not the installation CD which theoretically that you bought your desktop computer."  The days, the installation CD was given to purchase.  Now the means to reinstall the OS are given to the owner through making your own media to the hard drive recovery and there is a way to reinstall the OS and return the PC to how it was at the factory.  In this way, the PC is kept as the way in which it was purchased.

    2) "second is there anyway to burn the installation CD or get some install CD from HP?"  To get a real manufacturer installation disc only seem to be is not the route that is given, only to return the PC to the way in which it was purchased. These Recovery DVD sets can be ordered, if the recovery media is not when the PC was new or they were lost.

    (3) "Finally my research on the Microsoft website led me to believe that any installation of Windows Vista has the choice of a system of 32 or 64 bit?"  This may be true for a purchase at retail of the operating system, or it may be true as a choice when buying a PC, but not after the purchase is made for the OEM manufacturer, then responds to the needs of the purchase.

The choice can be made with a purchase at retail of Windows 7, as I understand it 32-bit and 64-bit are included in the retail package.  I don't know about Vista.
