Computer goes to sleep and won't wake up
A few days ago my computer started not to wake sleep cycle. It goes into hibernation and don't wake up with a jerk of the mouse or by pressing the buttons on the keyboard. I put the display to sleep for 4 hours and 30 minutes, but she falls asleep before 4 hours are rising and then don't wake up upward. I have to press the button for a few seconds to do to turn off and then restart. If I press a button on the screen when the computer is in standby it gives me a message that the signal of the computer has been lost. Anyone has any ideas how to solve this problem?
Hello
Look at all the features associated with sleep and ensure that it is only sleeping and not hibernate.
Some computers sleep mode will not let you wake up mouse etc. You have to push short s to the power Witch (as mentioned above by WillTel).
It is possible that your computer never before slept and was just to go off the screen.

On a Windows 7 computer, I installed Firefox 9.0.1 and in my edit menu I have NO preferences at the bottom, so there is no way to set all the parameters of the Edit menu opens and I cancel, redo, cut, copy, paste, delete, select all, find... but WITHOUT preferences below. This is a new laptop and nothing like Skype is installed. Installation of Firefox is again today 06/01/12
Hi bruce,.
What actually are you looking for? On Windows 7, your options will be under Tools > Options. If you have the Firefox menu, you can press Alt to temporarily activate the menu bar.
The details of your system say Linux. Say you're on Windows 7 However, correct?

Sporadically, when I turned off my computer, it reached the "Logging Off" screen and seems stuck. I walked away from my computer for a returned more than an hour to find the screen always showing "Logging Off" with the small circle in the middle of spinning. The only way I can close down is to do it manually and then when I use the computer at a later date, I ger the message that my computer has been shut down improperly and I should log in safe mode. This happened only since I upgraded to Windows Vista. My computer is a Toshiba laptop Satellite P105-S6147.

Windows 8 brightness control is stuck on my screen and won't go away
I have upgraded to Windows 8. It seems to work normally, except there is a brightness adjustment in the top left corner of my computer screen and it won't go away. It is about 1 inch long, and it does not work - if I drag the brightness indicator down, it automatically goes to the top. This control is on each screen that I use and it blocks the visibility of what I look at. Can someone help me to eradicate this annoying brightness adjustment?
For me, putting off the power and the monitor got rid of him.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,

Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have. Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
each installation.Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
necessary.Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
manually by model.Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

Windows 7 computer physical exported to the virtual machine and now will not boot on another machine
Hello
What I tried to do is the following:
Export/create a virtual machine from the current physical running computer. After it's done, I plug in the USB key which contains the files of virtual computer for a laptop and try to start this virtual machine. It does not start due to "recent changes". This probably means that the OS never will start, right?
This seems odd to me, or I can't understand what is happening here. I thought that to have a virtual machine means that the operating system could not doing the physical machine, it is running on, but just saw it is virtualized OS/machine.
I would like to "clone" a current physical machine and then run it on another PC is because we need to have a client machine, convert applications on it and then return either the image (if they already had a running image) or we have a complete script on how to convert/upgrade for that client applications so that the downtime will be minimal and maximum success rate.
Info:
VMWare Workstation 7.1.2
Windows 7 (desktop and laptop PC run this) 32-bit
Some clients running ESX and we want to take a picture of that and do the same trick as for workstation
A thinking about it?
See you soon,.
Steven
I bought a copy of Virtualization Manager 2010 at the time where converter couldn't handle windows 7.
Nowadays the 4.3 version should work well.
As mentioned previously, the mebdedded in my computer is very outdated.

How can I get my Windows xp computer to stop moving in waves up and down the screen?
Today I had to uninstall Windows XP Home Edition and resinstall it. I also installed SP 2 and SP 3. I'm slowly getting updates from Microsoft Update, but now I have problems with my computer when I'm online and up and down the screen. Only, it moves slowly and in the waves. What can I do?
Do you mean that you have chosen to uninstall Windows XP and reinstall?
What was the problem that forced you to do?
Anywho, if you reinstalled XP did you get the latest video drivers for your system on site WWW of manufacturer video system? What audio drivers? Your sound is OK works?
Video drivers that might be on a XP CD installation will probably not be the ones you need and it is never a good choice to use the updates of hardware which are available from the Microsoft updates - driver Microsoft made generally bad choice in this area.
If you are not sure what you have or what video drivers you need, maybe we can help you find them if we only know basic information about your system (another shortcoming of Microsoft MS Answers).
If you do this, we have more on your system:
Click Start, run and enter in the box:
Msinfo32
Click OK, and when the system info summary appears, click on edit, select all (Ctrl-A), copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here in your next reply.
For information about video drivers, expand components, click view, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information here.
For information about the audio drivers, expand components, click Sound Device, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information here.
There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.
This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.
