Windows 7 drive MyBook Essentials 3 TB backup/image error

Just installed a new copy of Windows 7 (64 bit) on a Dell Inspiron 1525 (Vista came with it).  All updates to Windows SP1 included are completed.  I can drag and drop thousands of files on disk, discover, etc..  When I try to do a backup/image via Windows 7, I get an error of e/s 5 minutes (error 0x8078002A).  I use the USB 2 connector.

When I tried the backup on another external drive (switchable box hot Thermotake with a 500 GB drive) it worked fine.

Everything looks good in Device Manager.

Ideas?  Thank you, JJ

Found my own answer today from Western Digital.  If you have decided to make a backup image with the help of Windows 7, don't BUY THEIR 3 TB MYBOOK.  Here is what they sent me.

Dear JJ,

Please contact Western Digital Service and customer support.

This problem seems to be caused by a problem with the Windows 7 backup and restore when you use disks with logical sector of 4 K sizes, which are found on WD 2.5 to and larger external drives. It's a bit different from the readers of 'Advanced Format', who are 4 K physical sector sizes and should not cause this problem.

It is always possible to use a disc, as long as you don't need to use the drive with Windows XP. Using the quick WD Formatter tool, select "Factory Default" configuration to reformat the drive. WARNING: This tool will erase all data on your drive, in order to take the necessary precautions.

    Hello

I'm trying to back up some of my data to Windows server 2012. I am using LG - 250GL Buffalo NAS.

I use the scheduled backup option, but it is unable to prepare the backup image, error code is "0x807800C5", event id 517."

However, if I rename my folder name, and then it creates the folder and with successful backup my data, only problem is that it is said version is not compatible. Once again, if I change the name of the folder, it's OK, but I can't do that everyday manually, everything save automatically at certain time.

I tried to find a solution, but nothing works.

Maybe my NAS is a bit too old and is not compatible with the version of 2012.

What are my options? Should I buy new SIN or is it fixable somehow?

  • Windows complete PC Backup Image - impossible to restore the backup on my laptop after the restoration of the C drive.

My user profile is not loaded correctly, and so Sony told me to do a restore of the C drive which took my drive C back to factory settings and lost all my programs and files.  I tried since then to restore the Windows Image backup I did on my external hard drive.

I open backup and Restore Center, click Advanced Restore, click Advanced Restore again.  The box application to what you want to restore?  The only option is to files from a backup made on a different computer.  I click Next, and he said: select the location of the backup to restore.  Hard drive, cd or dvd option has already found new Volume (e), which is my external hard drive.

I click Next again, and he says, select dates to restore from.  The only option in the box is dated 2008-01-12 14:14:34 backup location is not available.  My external hard drive has multiple backups on it, including the Windows Backup Image (which was the first backup, I did and it contains 152 GB), and so I do not understand this.

I continue, and then click Next.  It now says select files and folders to be restored, but there is nothing in the box.  I have check the restore everything in this backup box and click Next.  I save the files restored to the following location - check and navigate to the C drive.  I also check both boxes: restore files to their original subfolders and create a subfolder for the drive letter.  I click on begin to restore, and then he said:

Restoration was unsuccessful.  Error: the parameter is incorrect. (0 x 80070057)

I'm desperate to be able to get my programs and files back on my laptop.  I don't understand why the restore function can not see my Windows Backup Image, and why this is so difficult.  I've read other complaints by users about this, but cannot find a solution.

I look forward to hear from you.

    Thank you.

    Hi HGHFaith,

I suggest you try the following steps:

Step 1 : Clean boot the computer and then try to restore

Follow step 1 in the link below,

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

If everything works well after a clean boot, you can deduce that some third-party services are at the origin of the problem.

Continue with the remaining steps to pin-point on the third party service.

After find you the program that is causing the problem, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program, if you rarely use that you should consider uninstalling the software.

Important: n ' forget not the computer to start normal follow step 7 in the link.

    If the problem persists,

Step 2: Run Check disk to repair bad sectors on the hard drive.

    a. Click Start, in the start search bar type cmd, right-click on the command prompt icon in the box programs and then click Run as administrator.

    b. type E: (external drive) and press enter

    c. at the command prompt, type chkdsk /f and then press ENTER.

    Now, type chkdsk/r

Note: CHKDSK would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of DATA loss from that particular area.

Check whether the problem is resolved

    Hi, Mr. flame.

    What is your operating system?

If you have been creating full backups, the backup only that you keep is the last.

If I saved photo on an external hard drive, I can now delete backup files from the laptop for free space - my 'E' drive is full and cannot run backups more.  Also other documents that have now been removed still have backups that I need?  How will I know what backup should I keep not individually through hundreds of files?  Thank you in advance.

Original title: can anyone help please?

    Hello

You can take a safe backup.

After you create your first backup, Windows backup will add new information or changed to your subsequent backups. If you save your backups on a hard drive or network, Windows backup will create a new backup, full for you automatically if necessary. If you save your backups on CDs or DVDs and could not find an existing backup disk, or if you want to create a new backup of all the files on your computer, you can create a full backup. Here's how to create a full backup:

    1. Open backup and restore by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking the backup and restore.

    2. In the left pane, click on create new, full backup.

Why can't Microsoft find a solution to this problem with the network or the corrupted/missing files? My system works fine even with this problem of current backup. So, I learned to forget. But it would be nice if Microsoft would solve this problem.

    Hi flintnodule,

Microsoft can and will fix the issue for you, but because it involves dircet contact with the troubled pc the only way to do it is through remote assistance. that is to call you Microsoft and allowing the tech Advisor take control of your pc directly. THS can lead however still other problems that not all advisers have the same stanard in cognition, (I'm talking about previous experiances). That's why I stated measures for any user to repiar this problem themselves in over the answer, but for some reason not to many are eager to make they perfer to ignore the help and just complian. the way I used overkill stages of difficulty was the following. 1. removal of devices connected, 2. back up the system and all the files, 3. Defragment os. 4, everthing unistall, which is the third part. 5, prepare an external hard drive for windows by labelling and re-formatting upward (note do not quick format). 6, clean, install windows 7 but use the options to format your drive first. 7, do not install anything just to configure windows 7 to your configuration (test performance and reliability monitor if all ok). 8, perform an upgrade and after what game action center full tuning IE levels all the recommended and send information to all users. and set performance and reliability thanks to (allow) windows firewall. 9, Center of action for perform a full upward and the image of the value system and set it to your external hard drive. 10, test of reliability and performance monitor, once everything is ok and the Action Center indicates that it is active and there is no problem, you are ready to reinstall all of your software for your backup you make early.

  • A undwanted in Windows 7 driver: vsflt53.sys

How he removes one unwanted Windows 7 driver?  The driver is vsflt53.sys, that was installed when I used the Seagate Disk Wizard to migrate to a new drive.  Windows reported disk controller errors since the driver has been installed.  Wizard disk seems to be an Acronis Disk utility, many of the functions that have been disabled so that the program can be offered as a free download by Seagate.  Wizard disk left behind all kinds of junk when uninstalled.  I was able to get rid of the junk that I can find, with the exception of this vsflt53.sys first.  The file is associated with each of my hard drives, as well as with each of my USB drives.  vsflt53.sys can be found in Windows\System32\Drivers and can be seen in the details of the properties of each drive window driver window, but cannot be found by Windows Search or Agent Ransack.  The file is signed by Acronis and Verisign (Norton) and is certified as compatible Windows.  The file is dated from 2011, while my Windows drivers were dated 2009, so drivers update laughs at him.  Given that this driver has been installed, Windows reported disk controller errors and other drivers for HDDs were failure to load.  It is now too late for me to use Restore to get rid of this file.  How can I get rid of him?  I used Seagate disc Wizard so that I wouldn't have to reinstall Windows, but it seems now I have to reinstall Windows anyway.

I'm sorry for your trouble.  I have been using windows 7 during approximately 9 years. (too long to remember exactly when I bought this HP System.  I left the Acronis program on my system and have no problem. I'm running an AMD Quad Core processor at 3 GHz with updates and the latest service pack of Windows 7.  The system has 1-1 to disk and disk to 1-4. I have several logical drives.  That being the case, before you reinstall windows to reinstall the Seagate Software.  I can't guarantee that it can solve everything for you, because I don't know the details of your system.  I can tell you that when you use a migration software it is never a good idea to uninstall.  When I worked as a head of division for one IT closes the Sys-admin gave me a tool to migrate my system at home to a newer machine.  I tried to uninstall this program and just like you, my system has become unstable.  It's your choice.  I don't know what you've lost, and what you have saved.  For me, it is not convenient backup my system now.  I would need about 3.75 TB of backup space and I add around 100 GB or more for my system every month.  The cost of an external drive of 5 TB or a network of 10 TB Raid storage system would be too costly.  I found that Win 7 is stable enough if you keep up-to-date and are very attentive to you install and uninstall programs. Some may not simply be uninstalled as becomes shared their drivers and the system will work not with them and if the program for pilots is not on the system the system becomes unstable.  The system will work perfectly and give no problem, even if the program is disabled. As long as it is not moved the driver will see and continue its function to keep your system stable.  In the future, I recommend Avast antivirus software.  It has a sandbox that you can load programs you plan on uninstalling.  The will usually prevent the driver shared problem such that it runs on a Virtual Machine completely separate and can not install in a shared folder.  In fact Avast sandbox protects you when you install any program, you do not know and are not sure you can keep it.  You can choose to run any program installed in the sandbox in the sandbox and keep your system separate from any software you are not sure where do not want on your system.

I do not regret that this Council could be the end for you this time.  I just hope that it protects you in the future.  I'm not an employee, nor make any profit from my recommendation.  I don't know if another anti-virus software has a similar feature.  If they do then I highly recommend that you use.  An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  I wish I had this book for you now...  I hope somebody, but I hope it's useful to anyone reading.  Never do battle without a plan.  Each time that you install the software, you are not personally experienced with that there is potential for risk.  It's the war that we must all fight today.  I was looking at Avast global statistics and year to date in the list there are viruses, they added definitions more 100 million. malware and PUP.  This is really a war against those of us who are just do our best to get the most done possible and those who profit from the fact that there is no way to know for sure about what you are installing any precautions you use.  What Antivirus, firewall, proxy, server and online advice, you choose.  I loaded a program I liked, but it was a Trojan horse timed which became a worm and tore my system.  Fortunately I have no connected to everyone at work when the timer went off and the sys-admin was able to uninstall the system everyone before she could influencer.  You face something that most of us have faced the former or another.  Best wishes how to solve your problem.  Avast has a shredder program.  This is the same program that is used by many government agencies to completely remove the files from the disk hard so that even an electron microscope cannot find a trace of the file.  In using this on a flash drive to deleted all the files on your hard drive and then reformatting would be recommended.  Again, it is an opinion of people and not an active expert in the field.  I have been disabled for 8 years so I did that my personal experience to call.  Good luck in all your endeavors.

Can ask you advice of God in everything you have him with you to help you always.

  • Backup and restore in Windows 7 will not make an incremental backup

    Hello.

I have about 400 GB of backup files, for most audio (I have a home studio). Backup and restoration continues to do a new backup full instead of an incremental backup. I tried to disable "Windows Media Sharing whatever" and has no effect. I found the registry entry that the so-called forces a backup under certain circumstances, if I understand correctly. I put the value '0' and he still makes no difference - copy Windows files that I know have not changed over the YEARS and to create a new full backup. My current full backup is December 2014 on a 1 TB external hard drive. It is the backup that I added to-probably on a maximum of 20 additional concerts.

This is important because in 400 concerts, I have neither the time nor the space to do a full backup every time. I searched these forums and around the web and found nothing more disable sharing of Windows Media Services. For now I'm reduced to manually copy the new audio files on a backup drive, which is heavy at least when dealing with the whims of my Audio sequencer for recording methods and organization of files.

Please let me know how I can make an incremental backup instead of a full backup of my hard drive. Thanks for your help.

    GWR

IMHO, I wouldn't play with the built-in backup.  It is, at best, kludgy, depends on the OS partition, is inflexible and not easy to use.

IMHO, I would not trust my data or spend my time on it.

I'd take a peek at st Acronis True image home 2015.

  • Windows backup / reader Error Message

When I try to create an image of sytem, I get a Windows error message.  Legend of error: backup of the files.  The error section reads as follows:
The reader \\?\Volume{4abe5988-c73f-11df-8bbd ... contains errors.  The error text is:

Windows has detected corruption of file system on \\?\Volume{4abe5988-c73f-11df-8bbd-806e6f6e6963}. You should check the drive to the case before you can restore it.

Check the drive for errors IGNORE OK

By clicking on "Check the drive for errors" a new dialogue "Check Disk... "automatically opens with options to resolve the errors of system files and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sections.  One or two control options and clicking Start Windows returns a new error: "Windows could not complete the disk check.

To create this situation, I take the following steps:

    1. start > Control Panel

    2 backup and restore

    3. create the system image

    4. Select the backup location > OK

5 backup C:\ (System) and RECOVERY (System) > next

    6. the error occurs.

If I ignore error ther, the backup image is created, but because of this error, I'm not very confident that it will work if necessary :-(

    Background:

    1. I created a system image on 17/12/12 without problem (no error)
    2. I have all the windows of critics and other updates of software installed MS (Windows last updated 11/01/2013)

    3. I tried a restore point from before the windows update and it failed.

    4. my PC has been partially infected with "System of Progressive Protection" malware a 09/01/13.  I caught it starts to open the closure of the PC.  I ran MalwareBytes, Advanced System Care, MaAffee Security Center, Super Anti-Spyware, ChkDisk, sfc scannow and two applications separate from tune-up Dell PC with Global hard drive Diagnostics.  All indicate that the virus has been removed successfully, and that there is no error in drive on my PC.

    5. I find the Volumn number register (is not here).

    6. I did the recommended deletion of 'System of Progressive Protection' blogs McAffee and MalwareBytes.  Both indicate that the virus has been removed.

    7. I tried to create a new account administor and creation and the image with the same error.

I don't know whether or not the error message I see is caused by the virus. However, I'm fairly certain, and is so my Dell rep of tech support, the "drive" appears in the error message does not exist.  Anyone know what else I can do to eliminate this error?

    Thank you.

    ,

I came across a solution.  It seems that the problem is due to my ignorance.  Three years when a particuation my hard drive I have not assigned a drive letter to the "ROCOVERY' player intalled by the OEM.  {This "volumn" has ID: \\?\Volume{4abe5988-c73f-11df-8bbd-806e6f6e6963}.

Somehow this volumn developed a file system error.  I used disk management to assign a drive letter to this volumn and then, I could check with ChkDsk.  He corrected the mistake and now I can make a system image without this error occurring.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Remember to make changes to your computer before the problem?

Follow these steps and check if the problem persists.

Step 1: You can check if the backup and restore services are started when you try to make a back up of files.

    a. click on start
    b. in the start search box, type Services
    c. click right on - RUN as ADMINISTRATOR

These are the services that must be running when you try to make a return to the top.

    Task Scheduler started auto

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Step 3: I would also say that you check your disk for errors.

  • Complete restoration of the Server 2008 R2 vmware workstation for windows backup image 9

    9 workstation.

I am trying to restore a backup of windows server r2 2008 (made with the built-in windows backup) on an existing installation of vmware server 2008 r2. Basically, I just want to replace the facility with the backup version.

The problem is, the windows to the backup image is on a USB key.

    The restore process is:

    1. Connect the usb host drive
    2. Insert the windows server r2 DVD in drive
    3. initialize the Server 2008 r2 comments and press the button ESC at startup, then boot from the CD
    4. Select 'repair' installation
    5. but here's the problem, windows backup image is on my USB, but at this stage I do not see the USB key from the client in the repair installation process.

Ideas of the best way to do it?

    Thank you

Okay, downloaded the ISO Image of Windows Server 2008 R2, created a new Virtual Machine, added the Windows Server backup and made a full backup without the destination for the backup drive, a USB Flash drive.

Started the virtual machine of the ISO Image and it does not see the backup from a USB Flash drive, although I can see it from the command prompt.

Also created a record gross hard pointing to the USB Flash drive and started the virtual machine of the ISO Image and he does not see the backup of the hard disk gross of the Flash USB drive, because the Virtual Machine had problems during the boot process.  Forget the exact error message, but I tried as a whole disk and a partition.  So the why I tested it by copying it to a normal file depending on the disc hard virtual (and worked).

Finally I created a regular file based hard and copied the backup folder of the USB Flash it and then started the virtual machine drive of the ISO Image and it had no problem see the backup from the normal file based hard.

It seems that you have to take the long way around, but at least, you should be able to see!

I know not when booting from the ISO Image or a disc of Windows Server 2008 R2, backup tools command line are available to restore the image however you could examine the issue.  I would like to but I just don't have the time at the moment.

Your computer came with XP? If your computer came with VISTA and was never made for XP, so no XP drivers will be available for the system. I looked at the HP site and could not find XP drivers, which probably means that it is a model of Vista, not XP. If it came with XP then call HP and they will be able to send you a XP disc for a small fee, like $15 or more.
