Windows 7 - Module stopped... - roaminggo.exe

I have a machine running windows 7 that works very well except watch an error at startup. A popup display "Module has stopped working" and in details, the problem event name is "CLR20r3" with a problem Signature 01 of 'roaminggo.exe '.

Everything seems to work properly, it's a shared PC, and no other users have reported problems apart from this. It's really just a minor annoyance now. I tried Google but came up with nothing. Advice on where to start would be useful!

Thank you

Kasey

  • Vista: All Windows updates suspended / "Module of Windows Installer has stopped working and Will Close."

    On my installation of Vista, all windows updates no longer work.  If I try and run them from Windows Update in Control Panel one starts to run but then it just hangs.  At the same time, I get a message "Windows install Module has stopped working and closes".  If you look in the services, it is crushed, but restarts.  The update remains always hung.  It doesn't matter what update I try and run, I always get the same result.

    When the computer is shut down, it also tries to automatically install updates.  These also hang on the first, which means that I have to force power off the computer.

    Don't know if this is related, but I don't think that SP2 already installed - it kept if crush (don't remember what was the error message).  When I restart in safe mode it tells me that I'm still on SP1.  I followed all the suggestions on how to get SP2 installed for the error I received, but nothing has worked.

    Do not really understand what I have really installed a lot of "_" on the PC, it is a "clean" installation (about 1 year now).

    Any ideas?  Really, I don't want to have to do a re-install, but I suspect that is where I'm heading unfortunately.

    Hi AndrewInNZ,

    Thanks for visiting the site of the community of Microsoft Windows!

    I would like to ask you some questions for a better understanding of the issue:

    (a) did you try to temporarily disable the security software and check if updates are smooth?

    (b) you are using a firewall in addition in instead of the windows firewall? If so disable (temporarily) of the third party firewall and look for updates.
    It is usually caused by a 3rd party firewall that it blocks the internal ports.

    Hi PaulMazor,

    Well first of all, btwapi.dll is a process no system developed by Bluetooth. If you go on your computer, try to disable Bluetooth by going to network and Internet or however your wireless interface is configured on your computer. If you don't have Bluetooth on your computer, try to uninstall it. go to start > Control Panel > programs > uninstall programs > scroll down and uninstall. My last suggesting opens upward, the Windows Task Manager (press ctrl + alt + delete and release). Go to processes and disable the application there. Other that that, I can't help you any further.
    Good luck

  • Desktop Window Manager has stopped working and was closed

    One of our machines (HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC running Windows Vista x 64) will receive the error "Desktop Window Manager has stopped working and was closed" with lots of close error. He reappears (as well as all windows flasher to non-aero, then back to aero) in a few minutes, spends about 5 times per hour.

    I did some research on this and have already taken the following measures without a bit of luck:

    1 run the command chkdsk / SFC scan - nothing found via chkdsk, SFC found some issues fixed, and some, it did not set. Them that it solves not all related to Windows Sidebar, which I do not / does not start.

    2. put updated drivers for ATI Radeon 3200HD - this had a lot of new questions. Installing caused newer drivers ATI catalyst to no longer work with errors during installation and popup errors at startup. After trying several solutions workaround to try to get installed it, I ended up coming back to the driver that came with the laptop, that are properly installed and working without error. I am skeptical of update of this stable driver as a solution to the dwm.exe error.

    3. this problem just started yesterday, that occur with not a lot of changes. Other than updates of windows (I think that .NET framework and a few other updates installed), I replaced NOD32 antivirus with Bitdefender antivirus. The system was stable with bitdefender for about 2 weeks, so I'm not convinced that this program is causing the error.

    4. the event viewer shows the following:

    Failing application Dwm.exe, version 6.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e02696, failed module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6002.18881, time stamp 0x51da3d16, exception code 0 x 80000003, offset 0x00000000000461f0, process id 0 x 124 error, start the application time 0x01cea0365a457adc.

    Offset, process id and start on time all vary, but there are a lot of these application errors in the viewer all screaming Dwm.exe like the failing application.

    What should be my next course of action?

    You do not receive an error but a caveat. NTStatus results (the set of codes execption used by ntdll - the failed module) begin to 0 for no error, 4 for information (you should never see this), 8 for putting guard and C for error.

    It's your specific error.

    //

    MessageText:

    EXCEPTION {}
    Breakpoint
    A breakpoint has been reached.
    //
    #define STATUS_BREAKPOINT ((NTSTATUS) 0x80000003L) / / winnt

    Problem is, you shouldn't have breakpoints. Breakpoints are set by debuggers and stop the execution of the program to the State of the program can be examined. There should be no breakpoints in a retail system. More breakpoints are inserted into memory during execution of the program in a debugger. They tend not to do in the actual file.

    So here are two assumptions, either you have no exit code, IE test code (driver?). Or you have a running program that behaves like a debugger (which is suspect).

    Each of the three towers of programs, services, and drivers in increasing amounts. So restrict the possible culprits.

    Clean boot

    Click Start - all programs - Accessories - run and type

    msconfig

    Then go to the Startup tab uncheck everything. Then go to the Services tab check hide all Microsoft Services and uncheck everything that is left.

    Reset. If this resolves your wake problem ½ of services / of startup items until you find that one.

    Tip clean boot

    If the above does not help.

    Download Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

    Start the program by right-clicking and choosing run as administrator and click on the menu Options - Filter Options and check hide Microsoft entries and disable include the empty slots. Uncheck the box just to the left.

    Reset. If this resolves your wake problem half of the items until you find the one that.

    Safe mode

    If the above does not help.

    Click Start - all programs - Accessories - run and type

    Go to the Startup tab, and then click Start. Reset. Come back here and uncheck the box secure start to return to normal mode.

  • Can't open my pictures folder - message "windows Explorer has stopped working"!

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A305 (Harman/Kardon) with Vista Home Premium, 32-bit operating system.  For about a week now, I can not access my photos folder.  When I try to open I get a message telling me that Windows Explorer has stopped working, then another telling me to restart.
    I ran a full scan with my Norton program but no virus found.  Following the suggestions made on this forum, I have disabled all non-Microsoft software but still getting the same message.  Run the File System Check and after that 'complete 100% verification' I received a message that: "Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to solve some of them."
    What does that mean?  How can I find out what files are corrupt? How can I fix it?

    He also said that the details are included in the CBS.log windir\logs\cbs\cbs.log journal
    I tried to get more details of cbs.log (according to the directions on this site), but when I type the command I am told to type, nothing happens.
    I don't know what else to try.  Help!

    Hi Kumar,

    Thanks for your reply. It was caused by Poweliks.

    What I did: reset the IE security (version 11) by default; Download the updated version of free version of Malwarebyte s in SafeMode with network connection; restored the system to the point before that he has been infected with the Poweliks (I got lucky that point to restore was not removed by the system yet); then re scan the entire PC in mode safe mode with networking. So far, nearly a week, the PC works fine and the Poweliks wish never to return.

    Thanks for all members of the community to help.

    Happy new year to all!
