Windows 7 & MS keyboard with fingerprint reader

Hi - running Win7 Ultimate - clean install - I have the Microsoft keyboard with fingerprint reader - anyone know if this is supported (fingerprint reader that is - not only the keyboard) and if not, MS have plans to support it and when?

Mike

Thanks for your reply. I am running 32-bit. IntelliPoint s/w is available for the item of keyboard, but just what is fingerprint reader (which requires the persona digital s/w) is not supported under win7. I refer to my question above - does anyone have an idea if MS will support it in the near future or the product of by MS fingerprint reader is a lost cause.

AFAIK, there is no intention to provide the software for this device for Windows 7.  For more information, you can try to contact the number here:

    If there is no Win 7 drivers for the MS fingerprint reader or the manufacturer of the drive then Win 7 will not be able to use this feature.

    It does look like it, which is a real shame.  You would think they would at least be port their own material in their own operating systems.

    The keyboard still works, but the fingerprint reader becomes heavy.
    I have 3 computers in my household - 2 of them have this keyboard, and the stand-alone MS fingerprint reader.  All useless with Windows 7.
    I liked these fingerprint readers and am desperately looking for a replacement.  In my humble OPINION, they allow a new level of security, because you're not tempted to use the same user name and/or password on all websites and not tempted to use weak passwords that are easy to remember.
    Just got 3 Solo Eikon fingerprint readers yesterday, but continues to play with them.  It looks promising, however.

Due to him having to replace the failed hard drive on the laptop, I had to use the support of recovery to re - install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on the computer as well as all the drivers and other software that has been included on the recovery disks. It is a follow-up to the above post about the G1 455 ProBook with fingerprint reader. Whenever I try to install the security software, it keeps giving me an error code (error code 101). This code requires the installer to roll back and does not allow the software to install. I don't know if this helps much to find a solution to the issue. Any help you can give me on this matter is greatly appreciated.

  • Cannot encrypt files with fingerprint reader

    I just bought a Toshiba E105-s1602 and I can't find a way to encrypt files and folders with fingerprint reader.
    I use it to connect to the computer and in the instructions it says just right click on the file and there should be something that says encrypt or something similar, but I have no option to do with encryption.

    Does anyone know how to use it, I do something wrong?

    Thank you

    AFAIK this option depends on software pre-installed. I'm not 100% sure, but Toshiba offers two different applications for this application.
    If this option is not available then this option is not available with pre-installed application.

  • Win 7 slow start - connection with fingerprint reader

    Hello

    I have a T400s (2.4 GHz and 4 GB) with an Intel SSD and WIn 7 RTM with the last drivers beta of Lenovo.

    I have the fingerprint reader enabled for the connection and my startup time of 35 seconds is now shared almost half in the connection of fingerprints and the other half in the rest of the startup procedure.

    Or (the finger) described another way if the machine is turned off and I slide my finger to start the machine, it takes about 17 seconds before the fast logon is indicated.

    Then the machine says 'pending' for 15-20 seconds during which my personal connection icon is flashing by until it ends the connection and almost immediately displays the desktop.

    I am surprised by the very slow connection with my finger already slipped. It would be much faster to turn off fingerprint reader and connect using a password. Someone had this problem and knows how to fix?

    Other problems with the boot, I found (and fixed) is the use of a solid as the Windows background color which, for some reason, costs about 15 seconds at boot time! I also had to reflash the firmware of my SSD to win 10 extra seconds at the beginning of the startup procedure.

    Carpet

    Hello again,

    Sometimes I had to wait several seconds after sliding my finger, to the process of connection of kick. I checked the event viewer on my thinkpad T400 and found the security processes that are at work when loggin. I have excluded them from protection against viruses (Microsoft Security Essentials) and restarted the computer. When the logon screen appeared, I spent my finger and boom, the connection process began immediately.

    Excluded processes are:

    C:\Windows\System32\LogonUI.exe

    C:\Windows\System32\winlogon.exe

    Hi Ricksd,

    Welcome to the HP Forum.

    If you still have an old driver Validity Sensor in your system, you may need to upgrade to one that supports 8.1:

    sp58869 validity sensor V4.4.234.0 Win8

    If you still use an older version of the HP SimplePass software, you may need to upgrade the program.

    If you have recently upgraded to 8.1 Windows, make sure that all of your Windows updates are up-to-date.

    If everything is already at the level of the correct version, then you can get away with just reset the drivers:

    • Close all your programs and shut down your computer
    • Unplug everything (little unifying for the keyboard / mouse external can stay)
    • Perform the Hard Reset for your laptop
    • Start the computer and connect

    If the Hard Reset does not help,

    so check out this guide for advice on how to relax program in order:

    Simple Instructions for upgrade HP SimplePass

    Click on the thumbs-up Bravo !

    It's a nice way of saying 'Thank you' for help.

    While I strive to reflect best practices of HP, I do not work for HP.

  • Problem of Windows vs Mac OS with socket read/write and LabView

    Hello

    I inherited, multithreaded code, with a singleton that communicates with LabView via few ports/sockets. I don't know (but don't think) mention it in this case multithreading issues, but in case you think there could be a problem. All communications to the LabView through LabView class (instance) singleton.

    When we run the code on the same box of MS Windows XP as the LabView so, it works properly; This means that LabView receives orders and the java receives the results. When we run it on a Windows XP box in another room with another subnet it works fine as well. When we run a Mac OS in the same room/network reader.ready () is not true in the time-out period. (see the line of reader.ready () in the original code).

    Does anyone know why it would work for Windows but not Mac OS?

    A current "guess" what is bad on my part, is that code below (taken out of context, otherwise the position would be really long) needs of some rethinking. Any help/comments/advice on how it is encoded is greatly appreciated.

    Here are the existing code.
    // some declarations.
        long t0, t1;
        long waittime = 5000;
        BufferedReader reader;

        }

        public synchronized float potlistener() {

            String message = null;
            t0 = System.currentTimeMillis();
            t1 = System.currentTimeMillis();
            boolean donereading = false;
            while ((t1 - t0) < (waittime) & donereading != true) {
                t1 = System.currentTimeMillis();
                try {

                    while (reader.ready()) {
                        message = reader.readLine();
                        logwriter("LabV: [received] " + message);
                        if (message.contains(".")) {
                            potvalue = Float.parseFloat(message);
                        }
                        donereading = true;
                    }  // close reader-ready-while
                } catch (Exception ex) {
                    System.err.println("Exeption in potlistener() "+ex.getLocalizedMessage());
                }
            } // close timeout while loop

            return potvalue;
        }
    In particular, I have readLine() in a loop where I catch the exception if it is not read and just keep trying? What is the "best way" to do?

    Here's what I thought, something like:
            while ( ((t1 - t0) < waittime) && !donereading ) {
                t1 = System.currentTimeMillis();
                try {
                    message = reader.readLine();
                    logwriter("LabV: [received] " + message);
                    if (message.contains(".")) {
                        potvalue = Float.parseFloat(message);
                        donereading = true;
                    }
                } catch (Exception ex) {
                    System.err.println("Exeption in potlistener() "+ex.getLocalizedMessage());
                }
            } // close timeout while loop

    (a) No, but I would look into the configuration of the network itself rather than the Java code.

    (b) the correct way to enforce a timeout of read is through Socket.setSoTimeout ().

    This is a forum for peer-to-peer and this product is not compatible with Windows 7 - so - don't.  Microsoft is not what you need.  Should have read the list of compatibility (operating systems) probably printed on the box.

  • Can I put the Satellite P100-240 with internal fingerprint reader

    I have a Satellite P100-240.
    Although he did not come equipped with material to print finger scanning, it has clogged the hole in the box where he would go.
    So I wonder, can I get the hardware scanning separately and adapt it to the laptop?

    I don't see any option for the material to be sold separately on the Tosh site and I'm not even sure who makes the hardware for them so I can source it independently.

    Can we offer here advice or information on this operation?

    Hello

    You are right. Some P100 units support the fingerprint, and some units have been delivered without this feature.
    As I m not wrong not these fingerprints can be upgraded

    But to be 100% sure you should ask the local ASP (authorized service provider) for details.
    But in my opinion you can not put the laptop with fingerprint reader.
