Windows 7 on a computer with drive SSD C which has now a windows directory of $. ~ bt

Original title: Geoff

I run Windows 7 on a computer with drive SSD C which now has a windows directory of $. ~ bt which I don't want.

I can't remove this directory despite several attempts!

Please help me remove this unwanted directory as I do a lot of editing video and need all the HP of SSD disk space.

PS I enjoy Windows 7 and will eventually pass Windows 10, but not again, I thank you.

This will help you - http://blog.ultimateoutsider.com/2015/08/using-gwx-stopper-to-permanently-remove.html

Disk Cleanup also removes temporary files created by Windows 10 - but they will only come back unless you stop the process.

I have an ACER aspire x 3200 64 bit sytem with vista home premium which has been randomly locking up and freezing. The only mistakes were event 6008 with a description of the stop system prior to (time) on (date) was not planned.
When these errors originally occurred, I returned the system to acer and they installed a new hard drive. After updating the vista system blockages continue 30 times over a period of 3 months. Acer sent me a new disk image on 3 disks that I have installed and updated on 11 October. There is no blocking until the 10/27, 10/28, and for the 3rd time today.
The closed unexpected gives a blue screen if I use the locking system to the top. I have to hold the power to restart when the system crashes.
Can someone help me solve this problem?

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.  But I guess it's too late for this for so long that there are probably no so old restore points.

If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not work, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 key so that the start and go in safe mode with networking).  Then we will check some of your system files:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  It will scan and try to solve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a cause.

If this does not work, then please post repetitive errors in Event Viewer on the stop (Start / Control Panel / administrative tools / Event Viewer).  Here's how to use Event Viewer: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic40108.html.  From what I understand, there is none of the events (which surprises me because a freeze should certainly generate an error event).

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work (but you NEED a disc).  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version on system with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled cane and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to do a slipstream drive as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

    Good luck!

  • 7130 on the new computer with Win7 usb auto installation, cannot now w/ethernet network

I have a 7130 Officejet which is connected to my network by ethernet.  I just bought a new computer with Windows 7.  This printer does not have a downloadable driver for Windows 7, but the drivers that are compatible with the printer are delivered pre-installed on Win7.  The problem is that I have to connect the printer by USB to activate and install the drivers, which I did.  I don't see a way to restore a connection to the printer via ethernet after the use of the installation of the USB driver.  This will be necessary, because I'm changing more than one computer to Win7.

OK, assuming that the printer is connected to your network with an IP address valid:

    1. make sure the printer is on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by accessing its IP address before continuing.
    2. click on > start > Control Panel > devices & Printers.
    3. click on add a printer
    4. Select local printer
    5. Select create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port, and click Next.
    6. under device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under the name of host or IP address, enter the IP address of the printer. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard in the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model is not in the list, then select disk provided, browse the CD that came with your HP printer and select the first file begins with hp and ending with INF. click Open, then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If prompted, use the driver that is currently installed.
    9. He will ask the name of the printer - enter a new name or use the one existing. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. we may ask you to share the printer. Choose No.
    11. the printing area of Test Page is displayed. Go ahead and print it out.
    12. click on finish.

  • Pass systgem of exploitation and the files associated with a second disc which will now be the C drive.

My computer has a hard disk of 120 GB with 3 partitions: C, D, e. using Windows XP Pro.  The C; drive is running out of room and I don't want to repartition the disk.  I bought a 320 GB drive to use as a new drive.  What is the best way to move everything to the new drive, which will be at the same time as the old disk of the computer.  In the old days BACK I'd use copysys to ensure that the operating system has been installed correctly.  If I just copy with just the correct drive, this will bring on any system files or tracks so that I can make the new drive to my new C drive?  Thank you for your suggestions.

No, you can't just copy the files. The new drive will come with a cloning utility (or you can get one on the disc mftr. site) to clone the old hard drive to the new. Cloning is an exact copy. If you don't want an exact copy because you don't want to partition the old drive in the same way, the image of your system partition instead, save the image to an external hard drive. I prefer Acronis True Image . Then, you can install your new hard drive, the boot with the Acronis rescue CD and apply the image as you did. TI can also make additional imagery that makes a recovery program very good backup or disaster. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Old computer broke down, need to get info to new computer which has now installed FF and setup somethings. He had to pick and choose what is has more old

Had to buy new computer and it is windows 8.1 vs the former was XP. It took 10 days to get the wiring to connect the old HD to new computer USB port.

I need the computer for my work, so I had to manually configure and set up enough to continue working. This includes the FF.

Now that I have access to the old HD I want to selectively to bring more stuff from the old configuration of FF and put in place because I don't want to destroy what I have already created and configured. I guess you could say that I am looking to do a selective merge of the two configuration and user data files.

You can use the password exporter for the export of the current passwords and close Firefox, and then copy the signons.sqlite and the key3db of the other computer in the current profile folder.

You can then merge the passwords by importing the backup that you created.

Alternatively you can create a second profile and copy the signons.sqlite and the signons3.txt in this profile and install password exporter and passwords in the export profile.

Then, you can use the extension of password exporter to import these passwords in the current Firefox profile folder.

  • HTTPS connection to the server with the host name which has its IP address

    Hi all

I work in a development of the solution where a server application is running in a machine and hosts of Application Service SOAP over HTTPS. The server has the certificates for its IP address. My client application tries to use the SOAP Service; but when I connect to the Application Server using the HOST name in the URL, I get the SSLException indicating that the HOST name does not match name the object.

If I use the IP address in the URL, it works well - but I do not like the server application can move to different IP dynamiccaly - if you are using DNS is our solution to hide this complexcity from client applications.

    Help, please.

    Kind regards

the HOST name does not match name the object.

The host name does not have the name of the topic in the server certificate. He agrees with host.domain name.

  • Try to set up an iPad Pro with free wifi network which has need of a browser pop up for work.

The IPad will not be implemented because the free wifi needs a browser pop up for access and the installer will not allow this.  Any idea to do this work?

Launch Safari and manually type an address, no matter which site will do. Safari should redirect your connection on the free wifi portal.

  • Error Adobe ID should use "Adobe ID which has not yet been used to allow any other computer"

I do a few tests and screenshots for my public library right now. After reclassification of ADE 1.7 to 2.0 on an authorized machine, I pressed CTRL + SHIFT + D to Deauthorize. Then I tried to add the exact same Adobe ID to the computer and get this error message.

"You can allow only this computer with an Adobe ID which has not yet been used to allow any other computer or mobile device. "Please RΘessayer."

It of weird and contradicts my understanding of the ADE. 1.7, you can use the same Adobe ID on any combination of device (6). This seems to suggest that my ID Adobe must be original whenever it be permitted. My questions are:

    • Does really need to make a new Adobe ID, whenever you use CTRL + SHIFT + D?
    • What happens to contain ebooks DRM on your computer that were related to the Adobe ID who do not accept the ADE 2.0?

If anyone has any ideas on this, I'd like to hear them.

N ° you already allowed the computer anonymously, and you can only "upgrade" an anonymous user that has not been used before.

You can either disable allow anonymous user (and lose all access to the content related to this user), or you can use a brand-new AdobeID which has not been used for electronic books before.

If you have active anonymously by mistake and not have not any content yet, you want to probably turn off and start again.

I have already downloaded all the HP software & drivers that I need to make it work like a HP., everything seems normal & tact except in the reception centre where it tells you all the details of your computer, it said its production is Dell & must say HP. The product key on the side of my computer is of course for a HP. Until it is recognized as a HP & not a Dell, I can't activate my windows with this product key.

You'll have to contact HP and see if you can get a set of restore from HP for your system disks, you will not be able to activate the copy of Dell's Windows with a key to HP.

  • ProBook 6450 b (ATI): the upgrade of my Probook with mSATA SSD

Hello! ProBook 6450 b. I want to upgrade my computer with mSATA SSD drive. I've got slot free mini-PCIE (what is expected for the WWAN card). The problem is that I don't know if this Probook (updated of course!) BIOS supports modyfications like this. Can anyone help?

    Kind regards!

I happen to be sitting here with his cousin the 6530 b working on it for a friend and I can tell you that it is earlier than mSATA WSSD readers. The crack is only for a WWAN card. If you put a disc mSATA in it the computer does not respond.

  • Pavilion DV6-6135dx: Replace hard drive SSD

Unfortunately my old HD optical 640Go dies and I need to replace it.  I would use an SSD.  Can anyone give me a suggestion on a good option and if you did, how does it work?

I understand that the original 640 GB hard drive has failed and you plan to install a SSD drive.

Here is a link to HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service of Guide. Please note Chapter 3, page 36, section 1, the recommended replacement disks.  You will notice the 160 GB SSD is recommended only if you have an Intel processor.

When I checked it Pavilion dv6-6135dx Entertainment Notebook PC specifications , you have an AMD processor.

Other drives may work, but as they are not tested, there is no guarantee that it would be.

For clean installation try to download Microsoft Media creation tool first. Using the tool, you can download a copy of the Win 8.1 installer. Save 8.1 only and not the PRO. During installation, the installation program does not the product key but it detect automatically your bios.

You will need to place the ssd instead of the original location of the hard drive to boot successfully.

  • I want to move my hard drive from a computer with a motherboard dead to a newer machine. The activation process for Windows XP SP3 failed.

I want to move my hard drive from a computer with a motherboard dead to a newer machine.  The activation process failed.  How can I get the operating system XP Professional sp3 reactive?  I have the code original and other info.

original title: Moving the death machine drive

    Hello CarrolScott,

The activation problem arose because the hardware on your current computer does not match that of the hardware on the machine whose mother is dead.

The best option for the reactivation is to use the telephone line. This, unfortunately, is automated and may refuse to turn on your system; However, don't despair just rest on the line after the automated atcivation crossed its procedure and you will be transferred to a real person. Tell this person you've done, and it should be able to help activate.

Try to use this tool, it's called Windows easy transfer, I don't know if it works with an external hard drive or if you want to just manually, you can transfer the file using the method of copy paste...

Activation of WINDOWS VISTA oem with another oem drive?

HI I have a computer with windows vista business on that key. Apparently, I do not have the original OEM drive but I have a dell windows vista Enterprise drive. the product to activate my acer desktop computer?

    Hello

A manufacturer of recovery disc is designed for a particular brand and computer model; they are not interchangeable.

Here is the link to order the Acer recovery disks:

    http://us-store.Acer.com/RCD/

And if the Acer never included a drive to purchase, you should have a recovery Partition on your hard disk to reinstall Vista to how it was when new.

With an Acer, you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the process of recovery back to new condition.

    See you soon.
