Windows 7, router DLink DI-524 will now connect to wireless internet
Windows 7
DI-524 router
I have a new Acer laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed. I can't connect to the internet via a wireless connection. I can connect using the cable directly. I tried many things including reset the router and modem (Comcast cable). My connection shows "resistance" with all 5 bars, but I get an error message 'access restricted '. Is someone can you please tell me what I need to do to connect? I need to find and download the new drivers? Thank you
Have you set up wireless encryption correctly?
First, set up the type of encryption and password of the router. This then it is hard wired to it.
Now, go to network and sharing Center in Control Panel and set your type of encryption for laptop computer and the password on the same setting as the router... Mike Hall MVP - Windows Desktop Experience http://msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/

Hello
I would try to run a system restore to see if that helps. If you have Norton installed, follow step 2 first on the link below.
http://us.Norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docURL=20091112171719EN&LN=en_US
Shut down the PC. Tap away at f8 that you start the PC to bring up the Windows Recovery console. Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press return. When this mode is loaded up, click on the Start Menu, click principally made programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and run the system restore. Choose a restore point before you deleted the driver and then proceed to the restoration.
When Windows has restarted, see if you can now connect wireless again.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards

Unable to connect to wireless internet after Windows Vista update on 16/09/10
Since I've updated windows I cannot access my wireless internet connection, however, I am still able to connect via the LAN port.
If I check my ipconfig it says under the "media disconnected" wireless network connection I tried to get my IP address into my settings because they seem to have disappeared, but I can't always wireless. I ran all Windows diagnostic tools, but all say that the internet connection is fine (due to it being connected by the LAN port).
I also tried to fix it by other solutions on this forum, that is
- Open Set Up a Wireless Router or Access Point by clicking theStart button, clickingControl Panel, clicking network and Internet, and then clicknetwork and sharing Center. In the left pane, clickset up a connection or network, and thenset up an access point or wireless router.
The result of the message is ' Windows has detected network hardware, but it cannot automatically configure "and when I try to manually configure the server requires a user name and password which I don't have.
Please could shed you some light on this case for me?
Thank you very much
Hello
I tried everything above without result. However, I managed to reinstall my wireless router software after having repaired my DVD driver software. I restarted my computer and Wireless does not work. Reinstalled the software new and restarted the computer, and then after a short period of time the computer connected to wireless internet! Not know not why the remedy has been delayed or why it did not work after the first attempt, but it connects wireless now - what I know is that this problem occurred after an update of Windows, it's a shame that Microsoft failed to address this problem as it was their update it as many other people have also claimed.
A big thank you to everyone who offered advice.

Phone will now connect only via wifi to otherwise the web network does not work
My Motorola xprt is less than 1 week old. At first, that everything worked well. I got internet connection etc. So I connected to my wifi at home and it worked fine, then my wifi secure at work. but now I can't connect to the internet without wifi. There is no 3G signal activity. I tried to help out with a representatitve of Sprint and after trying to make an update to profile 3 times in vain, he recommended I take it into a store and maybe get a new phone. Prior to this, however I tried to solve the problems of the site via a USB connection with the drivers properly installed (I think) and he was not able to detect my camera. Don't I have some settings wrong? I'm going crazy because I like the phone but can not use wifi all the time.
In fact the question on the data connection helped because I went to my settings and the title of the data management 'enabled data' has not been verified, now everything is ok - I have my 3G back. It seems that the Sprint guy should have just over my settings rather than suggesting that I might need a new phone. Thanks again.
I have another question, but I'll start a separate discussion.

I can't connect to wireless internet with windows vista
I bought a new HP Pavilion dv6 laptop with Windows Vista and I tried to connect to the internet from my laptop via router ADSL2 + wireless D-link but my network is not visible wireless.
I tried to plug my ether cable and this time my network was visible, but it would not connect.
I am able to connect from another laptop with windows XP wireless through the same router.
My HP laptop connects via WiFi in other places, but not at home via D-link router.
I am not able to connect to internet from my laptop HP since I bought it 9 months ago.
What can possibly be the reason? Can you help me connect to the internet?
Thank you
It seems that your settings are not correct for the access provider or router (or both). I suggest that you contact your ISP and have them walk you step by step in the process of installation and configuration and do not let them off the coast of the Nigerian line you have a good connection, as you wish. They know that the parameters so that we don't have, so they can help you better than we can, and I'm sure they will be happy to do.

My laptop has not been used for a year and now does not connect to wireless internet?
My wife's cell phone has recently been repaired (power Cable plug damage) and has been missing for a year. We both used my laptop which connects to the internet just fine. The laptop connects to the network but does not connect to the internet. I tried all suggestions that our Windows Diagnostics, as well as other ideas for myself but had no chance. The continuous diagnostic message to read "cannot communicate with primary DNS 194.168.4.100 server. My only thought is that perhaps because of the amount of time it has been used as the network driver can be updated, although I don't know how to upgrade without connecting to the net?
Hello
Follow the suggestions and then check:
Method 1.
Let us reset TCP/IP and check.
To reset TCP/IP stack to go to this article and follow the instructions.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/299357
Method 2.
Step 1.
1 connect to your router (by typing 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the address bar) and connect. Check your user manual or documentation if you don't know the references of logon.
2. make sure that you are in Setup-> basic configuration category.
3. scroll down until you see "DHCP Server" - if it is disabled, select 'enable '.
4 enable DHCP if you want, you can change the number that starts the DHCP IP setting. (This is optional)
5. use the DNS servers provided by your ISP. There are many DNS servers out there. It is preferable to use your ISP if possible.
6. scroll and click 'Save Settings'.Step 2.
1. click on start and then Control Panel.
2. go to network and sharing Center and then click on change adapter settings.
3. right click on the connection to the Local network and select Properties.
4. Select Internet Protocol Version 6, and then click Properties.
5. select Obtain DNS server automatically an address and press Ok.
6. choose obtain an IP address automatically.

Are the two computers to the same distance from the router? How many bars do you plan to connect? You use without wireless - G or wireless-N? Try clicking on the bars (next to the lower-right clck) then click on Open network and sharing Center, then click on wireless network connection and see that the number of MB/s is just above the bars in the middle of the right. You should see something like 54 Mbps and at least 2 or 3 bars.
