Windows 7 saved shared network drive the forgot/lost password

I work with a small network of average office with windows about 20 computers all 7 and we have a computer of Windows 8, acting as a file server. all desktop computers are set to automatically connect and map network drives and save the password. Password not changed everyone was able to connect, except a single computer of users who suddenly asked the password on the server again. Given the same password correct, which I memorized by now, and everything was fine and yes I have checked the box to remember the password twice. Boss is not happy that computers does not...

all, but the server is wireless.

For starters, it is the file server password and not the wireless. Yes, I have just add it again, it has never happened to me before. But don't get started me on the wireless, in this building, there are some 30 different networks.

Problem is solved, but the cause is undetermined.

should I wait for that to happen on other computers 20 +? Or give the "password" for everyone.

I have a problem within Windows Explorer, I file open with say dozens of PDFs I have the preview pane open so I can tell what was on the pdf file selected without fully open. After you have determined whether I need it or not, I'd go for delete the file. However, with the file selected and preview pane, you can not delete the file gives an error message saying: the file is already open and cannot be deleted.

I found that this happens on users with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 machines at my place of work with different versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat. Main versions being Acrobat 9-10, drive DC 15. Also only on the product on shared network drives, local hard drives are not the issue.

Also, I installed another PDF reader and do not have the same problem if I put it in the default PDF Viewer. Leads me to believe that the problem is with the Adobe programs and non-Windows. I want to continue to use Adobe since I have a lot of licenses of Acrobat. Turn off the preview pane is not an option for my end users, since the amount of PDF files that they go through in a day is quite high.

    Please notify.

I'm sorry. I'm all out of suggestions. There may be others somewhere that I saw but patches are usually

1 turn off the preview pane

    2. use shift-delete

    3. remove the drive and use another pdf reader

Seems that MS and Adobe have a hard stop at this time. And as I mentioned earlier, we had this problem on our drives to network with other files. Even the products Ms.

using Windows 7 and 8.1 of Windows via a shared house group the WF-2540 Epson printer is off line.  This printer uses with two PCs using Windows 7 and a PC using Windows 8 with no problems.  Today it usually just printing using 1 PC with 7-1 8.  It is connected to the PC works well.  This isn't wired wireless we have wireless at the office.   Use this way for years with no problems, then suddenly this morning its all stopped.  I read so much information on it with no satisfactory response.  Epson will not know that it is not connected via radio or directly with a PC, so I'll through in circles.

I reinstalled the PC on Windows 8 PC nothing works.  Any suggestions as to what I can try next as business has ground to stand without the printer!

  • I want to re install Windows Vista on my computer but I forgot my password to connect.

I want to reinstall windows vista on my computer but I forgot my password to connect.  It comes to my personal computer.  I tried to insert the disc, but it will be without automatic operation even if the computer is restarted.  How can I get around this?

    original title: Reinstall vista

If you don't lose all the files you created (such as documents or images) and the insrtallation CD or DVD or can download all programs to add after installing Windows in:

Insert the Vista DVD into the DVD drive and boot the computer. Press a key when promptewd to start the computer from the DVD. Facilities to remove the present partitions. Install Windows to the HD.

If the computer does not display a toboot option from the DVD it starts, you need to enter in the BIOS as the machine starts up and change the setting for the first device to boot to the DVD player. Save the changes and exit. Now, return to paragraph 2 above.

Press a few keys to access the BIOS varies according to the version of the BIOS. More frequent are: DEL or F2 or F10. On some machines you can press F12 instead, and it will take you directly to a boot menu.

    Good luck.

    Steve,

Thanks a lot for the link to this article.
    It was most helpful.

I also found this forum useful post:
    http://www.techsupportforum.com/Networking-Forum/networking-support/114373-cant-map-new-network-drive.html

In particular, he said to check the event log of the computer that you are trying to connect to (the remote computer) to search for an event ID 2011, which would be entered in the time you finally tried to connect and does not.
I did alt-click on the icon MY COMPUTER (from the remote computer) and the menu HANDLE, click the EVENT VIEWER folder (in the left pane), and then the SYSTEM folder under that.
On the right pane, I found an ad for the event ID 2011 at the time wherever I finally tried to connect.

To test this, I went to the VISTA laptop and tried to connect the computer to Office XP again, which gives a different error message on the VISTA laptop.
When I went back on the XP desktop I tried to connect to and looked again to the event log, of course ANOTHER event ID 2011 has been registered with the new time of my additional attempt to connect.

He confirmed that it was likely that the IRPStackSize was the problem, as your proposed article.

Then I printed article how DO TO SAVE AND RESTORE the REGISTER to: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/
then backed up the registry (both by running a restore system to register and by exporting from the top level of the regedit).

I then went in regedit on the desktop in XP for the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\LANMANSERVER\Parameters file described in your article.
There was NOT an entry for IRPStackSize in the right pane, so I followed the instructions in the add - it and change it to decimal 15.
I rebooted and tried to connect but still got the same error.
The article said that the default value is 15, so I assumed that adding input IRPStackSize to 15 has not changed anything.

So I went into regedit and changed the value of IRPStackSize of 15 to 18, restarted and it solved the problem.

I found that the following articles is also useful in the resolution of this problem (aside from the one you gave):

I typed this all this while this might help others who may encounter this same
Error "not enough server storage is available to process this command" when you try to
Map a network drive (or just try to connect) to a XP computer from another computer.

    Thanks much for the lead.

  • Cannot open the files from the shared network drive

Hi, I am trying to open a file located on a server of storage attached to the network in a shared drive. When I try to open the file in Photoshop CC 2014 directly or by double-clicking in the file Explorer, I get a pop-up box in Photoshop that says that the image of CR2 is not the right kind of document. If I copy the file to another USB drive attached, the file opens correctly in Camera Raw.

This will give you tangentially more insight in the work through a network to NOT be supported by Adobe:

This is the standard text often used for saving to a network (NOTE the part where he explains that normally, it works, but it is impossible to solve someone else on the network remotely, and that's why he didn't is not supported by Adobe):

If you open files on a network, or saved on a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the case where you currently have problems with one or more files. On a network is not supported.

    See:

    http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/406/kb406793.html

Copy the local file CLOSED your server hard disk, work on it, again to save it on your local hard drive, close it and copy the closed file on the server.

Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support work on a network does not necessarily mean that it doesn't work.  It should be.

Adobe position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to ensure that everything will work properly in all systems, particularly in view of the fact that that something will not work properly, it is probably the fault of the network, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting of your network.

If you are unable to work locally, you are yourself, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you work from a server, make sure that your network administrator is a competent professional.

When problems arise, much valuable work can be lost.

  • On the installer of Windows 7 backup to network drive, how to avoid the user name and password?

I have Windows 7 x 64 Pro on a PC to my home network 2-computer. Back up my files on a 1 GB network drive using outdated software. I would use the backup of Windows in the same way, but I'm stuck at the first step in backup: "what is my username and password?'." " I have no need to use either as well as single-user computers and log on automatically.

How can I convince backup W7 to accept that they are not needed? Otherwise how can I, with the status of administrator, either:

  • Windows logon fails when network drive mapping

I can no longer map a network drive of my laptop Vista business to my PC (XP).   I enter a username/password valid name, but I still not unsuccessful logon.   I read a gazillion discussions and have made the change to the recommended without result SECPOL tool.

What makes me mad, it's this used to work!   I recently had to physically move the PC (renovation of the kitchen) and perhaps its something stupid like a missed connection.  Yet, I have access to the internet very well.  I can ping 192.168.0.3 192.168.0. * I'm confused comment.3 is affected. My tivo est.4 and I tested this connection and that's fine.

I even had a network printer set up works very well: Photosmart \\192.168.0.3\HP...

The only area involved is WORKGROUP.   I created an account "lapguest" on the PC specifically for this purpose

I forget some syntax?   The GUI said essentially the same thing.

    C:\Users\Wendy>net use w: \\192.168.0.3\pcc * / USER: WORKGROUP\lapguest
    Type the password for \\192.168.0.3\pcc:
    86 the system error occurred.

The specified network password is not correct.

    C:\Users\Wendy>net use w: \\192.168.0.3\pcc * /USER:\\192.168.0.3\lapguest
    Type the password for \\192.168.0.3\pcc:
The context of the user provided is not valid.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3775.

I think its something stupid, I forgot, but he is elusive.     I also put the name of the computer in the 192.168.0.3 place, but it does not help.  There is no involved DNS.

Using the graphical interface, I can browse the network to find the folder to add, but there is nothing under the computer name of the computer.  "pcname" is not a valid host name.   Otherwise download "logon unsuccessful".   I tested the connection on the PC and it is certainly true.

In addition, I traced \\192.168.0.3\C$ successfully, but I got my LOCAL drive (portable) C.   ????  that should be a big clue, but call me clueless...

I even uninstalled mcafee (completely) just in case.  did ' t like it anyway so no biggie.

I know that there is a big DUH when this has been resolved.

Thanks Aaron, but I think I did it to her.

In the meantime, I decided to try sharing in the opposite direction.   Which made me respond finally that est.1 which est.2 whos.3.   A lot of listening to ipconfig.     What etait.3.2 is the last time.  (the est.2 PC and computer laptop est.3)  I still want to understand how these numbers are assigned.

I found the option - rr in my earlier review, but do not know if he had an impact.   Also reluctantly, I created an account with the same name on both systems to try.   First of all, I shared with who.    Later, I could share by using the account name that exists on the PC (lapguest).

I don't really know how the problem etait.2 et.3 mixup questions and/or syntax (file specification must be \\192.168.0.2\share-name) spec not \\PCNAME\share-name and the user must be PCNAME\username) and/or services and windows XP/VISTA problems.  Maybe my new sequence got something instantiated later.   Hope it sticks, whatever it is.   I wrote my orders exactly.  I hope that when I reboot or whether, I not have this problem again.

Ah-ah... before you sign this note, I went to test the laptop via the network printer I had previously put in place of a printed page.  It did not work.  I can't see why.  the specifications of the printer is Photosmart \\192.168.0.3\HP... which was fine before, but now it faudrait.2.  I'll have to add another printer network for the new address.  I hope I remember how to do this.

Now, I can clearly see the benefits of DNS.  Is there a simple way to create a name "servername" instead of having to depend on 192.168.0.n?

  • How to record TV with Media Center (Windows 7) to a network drive?

Well, you would think that the new MediaCenter Windows 7 would live up to the recording of your TV for a network/player sharing. Nevermind, it seems that it is just not possible.

I have a windows 2008 R2 server and a Windows 7 machine with a TV card. Since my server has 2 TB of storage, it would be nice to save directly to a network drive. (I rode like Z :).

    I tried the following:

    1. By selecting Media Center itself: does not. Is not available.
    2. Editing the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording to RecordPath Z:\TV. Does not.
    3. Editing the registry: set RecordPath to \\server\TV. Does not.
    4. Create a symbolic link (mklink \D) of Z:\TV and \\server\TV with parameter in the registry under RecordPath.

I am currently out of options. I could of course install Windows7 on my server, but I have no license for this, and my windows 2008 r2 is free from dreamspark.

So: How is the world possible to make this work? And why not just MediaCenter detects my network sharing?

Record on the network is not supported.  The smallest hiccup of network could cause problems with registration, or even TV live as the recording buffer would be located at the remote location.

One thing you can do is to use Windows Home Server Power Pack 3 and its function of archive TV which you can configure to automatically move all your records or only those you want.
  • How is it, windows XP or Windows 7 cannot see network drive?

first of all, I have 5 computers.  Installed with Windows 7 installed with Vista and 1 2 3 MacBook Pro.  I created 1 network drive to more easily move files named "ShareMe.  All the protable can use the shared folder since I gave permission to everyone.  All the computer can use the network printer.  I installed Windows 7 on a Mac using VMware 2.0.5 and able to print using printer network with no problems.  I installed another Windows 7 on VMware Workstatin on a PC, and it can use the network also printer without any problems.

(Everything is legitimate and so far I just was not updated to 2.0.6 because I heard a lot of things to have a slow speed)

That is the problem, not an operating system that runs on VMware can't see my shared folder in the network, it cannot see networked host computer.   I speak not shared folder between VMware and the computer host.  Between the host and VMware are very well; However, I'm talking about that all shared folder the computer can see (folder ShareMe).

This is the problem because it puts the virtual machine on a separate subnet, then the one on the host is.  Past to open and release/renew IP on each virtual Machine.

Take a look at: Understanding Networking in VMware Fusion

Tip: With a Machine virtual Windows switch between NAT and connected by a bridge or visa versa, can be made without restarting, or even by using ipconfig to release/renew the IP address.  Simply toggle the State connected/disconnected from the network of the <...>Network icon on the status bar from the type of network between the two. It takes but a few seconds and a few clicks and is faster and easier the alternative methods.

  • Pavilion Slimline s5510y: network driver, the system disk

One of my friends has a slimline s5510y who can no longer connect to the internet.  She uses a wired connection and the wired connection works with other computers, modem and physical connection is good.  Their system disk has been lost, so they cannot reinstall their Windows 7.  I can get a link to download their network driver (for the download to another computer and then transfer them pilot for the troubled slimline) and then then I get a phone number or a procedure to order a replacement system disk?  Or the other solution would be appreciated and both even more so.  Thank you.

The first pilot did not work, but at this time, I concluded that the system had been ruined by a virus (website technical support who had wanted to make them pay for a solution to a problem that had caused the tech support Web site (I think).  I had via hp forum procedures to perform a recovery through the recovery HD partition.

  • Windows 7 x 64-network drives mapped disappeared following updates

Since this morning, all network drives mapped our Organization have disappeared.  More than 85 users being affected.  By a process of elimination, we have reduced the problem to local machines running Windows 7 x 64.  We have also several PCs 10 Windows which are not affected.  We have also two PC of Windows 7 that have not activated the Windows updates, and both have no problems with the drive mappings.

We go through the deletion process of upgrades that were completed this morning (03:00).  I will provide an update as soon as we find the root cause.

Can we get some guidance as to a specific update that can affect the drive mappings?

    UPDATE 2 *.

We have solved this problem by uninstalling the following Windows updates:

    Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3139923)

    Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3140245)

    Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3162835)

Update of security for Microsoft Windows (KB3159398)
Update of security for Microsoft Windows (KB3161561)

    Resolution

To resolve this problem, use the GPMC Group Policy (GPMC. MSC) and follow one of the following steps:

    • Add the authenticated users group with the permissions to read on the Group Policy object (GPO).
    • If you use security filtering, add the computers group to the domain with the read permission. »

    Hi all

We have 3 Macs all 10.10 running or 10.9 who crash when saving eps file types (PDF records very well) to a network drive of NetApp using Illustrator CC 2014.1.0 release.

Users can save files locally and then copy the files to the network without any problems.

    Anyone else having this problem?

    Thanks in advance

    Colin

    Colin,

Here, it is always recommended to open/save from/to clean hard disk and to copy to and from networks and removable media. You may be lucky, at least for a while, but it is better to prevent than cure.

In addition to the (much longer) risk of file corruption, some issues are mentioned here:
