Found the problem and the solution.
I found that all msi packages would fail. I tried to install another package as a .exe and received the error message: "the folder path ' program files (x 86)" contains an invalid character.
This brings me to wonder about the long file name support. After research, I found the registry key 'Win31FileSystem' has been set to 1. This system was originally setup to be able to save files on a computer embedded Windows 3.1 (don't ask). It turns out that having this disables running or is not compatible with the appointment of "Program Files" (x 86) Definition of this registry key to 0 and reboot solves the problem of msi.
Thank you
John

Windows 10 upgrade fails with the error C1900101-20006
The current operating system is Windows 7 SP1.
First test was about 6 months ago.
At that time googling the error has not returned any hits at all.
Hoping that the problem would resolve itself, or a kind of diagnostic information would become available I tried again today, but with the same result.
I tried things like run the update utility and uninstall the virus check tool, but all the tests gave the same result.
Is it possible that I can get more information about what is really causing the error, for example which driver is causing the problem?
An additional piece of info is the error of update: is 0x80070005, which seems to be "access denied."
The upgrade is already running as an administrator, and I run the SubInACL tool.
Consider the following text:
- How to: 10 tips before installing Windows 10
- How to: 10 things to do if the Windows 10 install fails.
Retry the upgrade manually:
Option 1:
Download the media creation tool
Click with the right button on the MediaCreationTool.exe file and then click on run as administrator.
Note: How to check if you are downloaded or installed the update Windows 10 November
How to create an ISO or USB drive.
Select upgrade this PC now and then click Next
Option 2:
Task of pre-required
When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

- How to free up disk space in Windows
- How to: 10 tips before installing Windows 10
then
- How to download official Windows 10 ISO files
- How to: upgrade previous versions of Windows using the file ISO for Windows 10
then
- Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
- Reboot several times, and then try again.
- Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
- If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
- Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
- If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
- If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
- If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
- If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account.
- If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).

Hello1. who is the software antivirus installed on the computer?2 did you have any software or changes to the material on the computer before this problem?Method 1:See the steps in the following links. How to resolve problems connecting to Windows Update or Microsoft Update
Temporary connection related errors may occur when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update
Note: make sure that you enable the antivirus software, other security and firewall after the test programs.Caution:
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.Method 2:If the problem persists, see the steps from the link:Cannot install updates in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2

Windows backup will fail with the error code: 2147942402
Hello
I'm trying to run a backup on a Windows SBS Server 2008 using Windows Server Backup to an external 2 TB USB hard drive - I chose the backup once and personalized with "activate System Recovery."
This fails with an error message "the system cannot find the file specified" after having transferred about 28.23 GB of data.
The Event Viewer error code: 2147942402
I tried to run the backup to another device (a disk on a PC on a network) and it successfully without any problem which seems to me some kind of problem with the USB key.
I came across these links: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979281 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972 - but the server I use does not have a USB Host Controller NVIDIA - instead, there "Intel(r) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller" - so I'm hesitant to try this fix.
I'll reformat the USB drive to see if that helps...
Thank you very much
Adrian

Both HP and Microsoft indicate my laptop was ready for the upgrade to Windows 10, but when I tried to do the upgrade there not - several times - with the error message of Microsoft that "we could not update the system reserved partition."
What should do?
Other threads of error indicate the system reserved partition must be larger. This partition is usually small. Try making at least 400 MB instead of the 100 MB to 250 MB it is probably now.
