Windows 7 - updates at shutdown never download.

When I turned off the computer, Windows says to install the updates. "Do not stop your computer...". "So I expect. Never install the updates.

I turned off my firewall, BitDefender and I left the Sandboxie 'sandbox '.

What Miss me?

Hi Julieann75,

This problem occurs when one of the following conditions is true:

(a) an error has occurred during installation. The update has not been installed.

(b) the update has been installed. However, a file was not updated to restart the computer.

Method 1:

You try to run the update to Windows 7 troubleshooting and check if it helps.

Check out the link:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Update-Troubleshooter

Method 2:

Step 1:

You can also view the history of update for updates failed which is causing the problem.

Check out the link:

See the Windows updates are installed

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/see-which-Windows-updates-are-installed

Step 2:

You try to install the updates one manually download from the Microsoft Download Center and check if it helps.

Check out the link:

    Dear Mr RajithR
Thank you very much for your support. I use eset antivirus.
but seems that I solved the problem already in this way

I always check the side windows desktop update option.
and as I said the audit of the green line never stop

    > then I select windows update in the 2nd menu of windows 8
on the left side change configuration pc, so I'll find windows update on this side of the menu,
Once I check the update (if the update do not, at all, and everything was normal)

    > I click on it.
and Ive check the update normally up to don't stop telling me anything like normality.

    > then I'm back in the Office Update I click here, then I found everything was STOP FINALLY.
so I recheck again to update in office and stop again with updates to find
Everything works normally now. I guess I did, hope also works for others.

If this will happen again I'll make your suggestions.

  • Windows 7 update says it is downloading files, but is always "0% complete" since August 2010 update attempt.

The system is Dell XPS 9000 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit, less than a year, never had any problem update before August 10, 2010 update.  System was disconnected while I was away, started normally, when I got back 11/08/2010.  During the shutdown showed a normal notice of 15 records up-to-date with the usual "don't turn the computer" warning.  First three files updated, no problem. the fourth file in the 25% update complete message, he left for four hours, never has finished, remained at 25% full.  Have not been able to get 12 remaining files to download using the start of Windows Update.  Says it is downloading the files, but hangs at 0% complete, sometimes 15 percent complete, sometimes 32% full.  Tried to clean boot, etc., normal is fixation methods... no luck so far.  Been through forums, may have missed something.

Go to control panel-> system and security-> Windows Update and change to never check for updates (not recommended), and click ok.

now... to change the settings for Windows Update to install updates automatically (recommended) and click ok.

    Try it now...

Which seems to solve my problem, even after the FixIt utility has been run, and has not fixed the problem.

The Windows Update on your PC client checks the Microsoft's Windows Update server for the availability of new updates at irregular intervals and such randomization ensures that the Windows Update server is not overloaded with requests for updates at a time. The customer is very effective in searching for new updates and research updates that have been added since the last time updates have been excavated, which allows him to find the updates quickly and efficiently.

When checking for updates, the Windows Update client evaluates if the update is appropriate for your computer using guidelines set by the Publisher of the update, for example, Microsoft Office.

If the computer is not online at the same time that you specified to search for updates, the Windows Update client starts then check every five hours or something like that until he finds the updates successfully.

If Windows wants to install updates at shutdown, it's because the automatic updates downloaded updates, but not all updates you have requested or for automatic download. It will install the updates it has already downloaded and will inform you in good time when others are downloaded.

When all updates are listed so you check manually that you control the Windows Update server directly applicable to your system and you can immediately download and install. It is good to do a manual update now and again just to check what other updates are available as optional updates.

There is a known issue with Windows Update that address priority before you visit Windows Update

Manually download and install the latest cumulative security update for IE8 and restart before

visit windows update via the shortened link in your Start menu.

When you have Win XP SP3 and IE8, it will be the necessary file

It often happens that the installation of SP3 will break the windows update feature by not properly installing the windows update agent.  An older version of the windows update agent can be downloaded and saved in the C directory and installed by an execution command.

Windows update agent is available during one of the linked pages

A reboot is probably a good idea after each intervention.

Now connect to windows update manually through your browser using the shortcut in the start menu link and your chances are better that it will work.

When the latest version of windows and to connect to Windows Update will detect the old version of Windows update agent installed update agent will be installed after consenting to the ActiveX installation.  It will be the first thing that happens when connecting to Windows update if things continue normally.

If there are still problems with Windows update try this utility.

  • all the updates Windows 7 available for installation, 0% download

    Windows 7 pro / 64-bit

A few weeks ago, I received a notice stating that the updates are available and ready to download and install.
I selected files and click OK. And left the room to go do something else, it usually takes an hour to download and install the files. I returned a few hours later and discovered "download 0% complete".  He has never taken this long.

So I contacted MS support by telephone and gave them remote access to my pc.  They conducted tests of troubleshooting.  Conclusions of the trial revealed that some files have been resolved.  Before offline support, they passed a number of folder my way and disconnected.

But I still have the same problem.  Updates are available and always see "download 0% complete".  I even let my pc for eight hours and still nothing.

According to me, there was a lot to ask the same question. Many have responded with answers and all end up the same way.
    "There is no fix.

I asked a question last week, if the updates can be downloaded manually.  One answer said to copy some files and share them on OneDrive.   OK, I opened an account on OneDrive and two shared files.  One being a copy of the information system and the other, a copy of the system events. And who shared with the question. Heard nothing.

I inserted the same link below.

Look at these files and tell me that you know how to solve my problems to download.

Switch your windows update setting to never check the updates temporarily

    Restart the machine

Then you download this from your download folder run from there.

    https://TechNet.Microsoft.com/library/security/MS16-039?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

    Download the x 86 for 32-bit or x 64 for 64-bit

Install it and restart when prompted too after he did a search of stand-alone for updates that should not

take too long, it took all of 5 seconds, '' If '' windows update settings are turned on forever check

updates before running from the downloads folder.

    Once it installs and restarts

You can reset your updates affecting everything you had before default =...

    Then check the updates manually.

  • Update of Windows 8 does not, will not download

I bought a computer given to nine windows 8 and try to install the updates for the first time. • How to replace "apply downloaded update now" with "Check for Updates" in the menu help when the update fails because the downloaded update files are missing but the "Ready to install update" window keeps appearing?

    Question

I have another type of problem with Firefox

    Description

Window "Ready to Install" Firefox "Software Update" appeared. The folder "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\updates\0" contained the files update.mar, update.status and update.version. Each of the 3 files have been deleted. The next time that Firefox has been started, no update occurred because update files were missing. In the Menu bar, clicking Help showed in the menu drop-down that "apply downloaded update now" was always on the list. By clicking on "Apply downloaded update now" open "Software Update" window "Ready to install update", so that Firefox still considers that the update files exist, but they do not. In the window "Software Update", by clicking on "Restart Firefox" restart of Firefox, but once again it there's no update, and remains "apply downloaded update now" on the Help menu. How can "Apply downloaded update now" be replaced by "Check for Updates" so the update files can be downloaded?

    Version of Firefox

    3.6.3

    Operating system

    Windows XP

    User Agent

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; RV:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3

    Plugins installed

    • npmnqmp - 989898989877
    • NP-mswmp
    • Adobe PDF plugin for Firefox and Netscape "9.3.2.
    • Default plugin
    • Foxit Reader plugin for Firefox and Netscape
    • Shockwave Flash 10.0 r45
    • Version 1.0.3 copyright 1996-2009 The VideoLAN Teamhttp: / /www.videolan.org/

You can manually reset the software update feature by closing Firefox and remove the file "updates" (which seems you have done) and the two files "active - update.xml" and "updates.xml" - these are in the installation (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox) directory or in the profile folder (C:\Documents and Settings\nom_utilisateur\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\something.default).

If it does not, see our KB article How to resolve the failure of the update of Firefox update error message - the section of 'last resort' can be useful, or or read this article from MozillaZine KB, software update.

Please let us know how the above work, and if we can be of further assistance.
