Cisco VPN fast compatible with Windows 7 or not? I have studied several documents that claim their fix works, but not of that actually work. I do not understand how fast VPN installs without problem and connects all the way up to the "check network". Win7 must have some problems with the way it treats an echo request because non of the suggestions work online. It may also not be a problem of firewall because that when the firewall is off the same problem occurs.

Another question the utility of VPN in Windows 7 will work with Cisco VPN routers? What are the requirements of compatibility or the settings to make it work?

Any specific comments would be appreciated.

  • Remote Desktop connection: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit connects to the computer of Windows XP VPN

    Hi all

I am trying to establish remote desktop TO my new laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) on my computer (Windows XP) work via a VPN. The VPN Client connects to my network to work with no problems, but when I try to use the remote desktop connection I get an error message:

Remote Desktop cannot connect to the remote computer to one of the following reasons:

    (1) remote access to the server is not enabled

    (2) the remote computer is disabled

    (3) the remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure that the remote computer is on and connected to the network, and remote access is enabled.

Items 1-3 are working well, so I guess that the problem is caused by another issue?
    I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks for your response Al. To answer your qus:
    (1) cisco VPN Client for 64 - bit.

    (2) I don't know how to ping through the VPN tunnel - I don't see this option, anywhere in the Cisco customer (I'm not a professional, just a user)
    (3) Yes. Also, I can connect to the host PC via my old laptop XP (xp) of fine House, just not my new laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium) so the problem must be with my new laptop rather than at the end of the host PC.

After that you connect through the VPN tunnel open a command window, IE. go in Start > run , then type cmdand type ping DRC-hostname or IP-address-DRC ping.

    Examples:

    Ping lou - pc

    ping 192.168.1.25

FWIW, I have a desktop computer home wireless Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit on my LAN that connects fine to a XP Pro SP3 32-bit Wired test machine using [DRC] remote desktop. Now XP Pro SP3 DRC test machine is configured for a static IP address and I have manually configured the network mask, gateway, DNS resolves and made sure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled in the properties of the NETWORK Ethernet card on the test computer.

Just for fun, I checked the hashes of file for the file mstsc.exe on the Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit machine and a machine Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit I have and hashes were a bit different as the size of the files. The versions of the files are the same though. I assume that the difference is because we're 64-bit to 32...

  • Cisco VPN Client and Windows XP VPN Client IPSec to ASA

I configured ASA for IPSec VPN via Cisco VPN Client and XP VPN client communications. I can connect successfully with Cisco VPN Client, but I get an error when connecting with the XP client. Debugging said "misconfigured groups and transport/tunneling mode" I know, they use different methods of transport and tunneling, and I think that I have configured both. Take a look at the config.

PS a funny thing - when I connect with client VPN in Windows Server 2003, I have no error. The only difference is that client XP is behind an ADSL router and client server is directly connected to the Internet on one of its public IP of interfaces. NAT in the case of XP can cause problems?

    Hello

For the Cisco VPN client, you would need a tunnel-group name configured on the ASA with a pre-shared key.

    Please see configuration below:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00805734ae.shtml

    or

    http://tinyurl.com/5t67hd

Please see the section of tunnel-group config of the SAA.

There is a tunnel-group called "rtptacvpn" and a pre-shared key associated with it. This group name is used by the VPN Client Group name.

So, you would need a specific tunnel-group name configured with a pre-shared key and use it on the Cisco VPN Client.

Secondly, because you are behind a router ADSL, I'm sure that's configured for NAT. can you please activate NAT - T on your ASA.

    "crypto isakmp nat-traversal.

Thirdly, change the transformation of the value

    raccess 1 set transform-set vpnclienttrans crypto dyn1 dynamic-map

    Let me know the result.

  • Remote Desktop on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit does not connect to my computer Windows XP VPN

I recently updated from windows XP 32-bit to Windows 7 64 bit.  According to the same installation instructions, that I used on XP to connect to my computer to work through VPN & remote desktop is no longer working.  I can connect to the VPN connection without no problem, but when I use remote desktop to connect to the computer, it does not work.  I get the message:

Remote Desktop cannot connect to the remote computer to one of the following reasons:

    (1) remote access to the server is not enabled

    (2) the remote computer is disabled

    (3) the remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure that the remote computer is on and connected to the network, and remote access is enabled.

Items 1-3 are all very well, so it must be another problem.  I also checked windows firewall remote desktop is allowed on the exceptions list.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I fixed, which was ultimately quite simple.  I changed the 3 settings, 1 - uncheck the TCP/IP v6 2 - in the options of the remote desktop, ADVANCED tab, I changed the server authentication for: connect and don't warn me.  3 - below, to connect from anywhere, settings...  I chose: do not use a remote desktop gateway server. \
I checked the TCP/IP v6 and everything still works.
    Hope that helps someone.

  • Windows 7 VPN - no luck

    Hello world

    First, some background...

We lack a hub 3015 series running the Version of Concentrators VPN 3000 4.7.2.D. Windows 7 clients are 64-bit and run the Cisco VPN client 5.0.07.0290 version.

If I understand correctly the latest version of the client VPN no longer has the firewall component... so I created a new group of VPN and not selected 'no firewall' required. What I see in the logs says:

Remote endpoint is NOT behind a NAT device

This effect is NOT behind a NAT device

Any sugguestions would be greatly appreciated.

    ~ Steve

If you change the current pool used by a group to the hub, which very probably disconnects users Yes.

  • Windows 7 VPN for Windows XP

I have a laptop latest (July 2012) running Windows 7 Home Premium.  I connect to remote computers to work activities via VPN, but since moving to this new computer laptop, I can't connect to VPN connections that are hosted by a Windows XP Professional client.  I confirmed that the necessary ports are open (ping test and also connect by VPN by other devices). I am also able to connect to a Windows 2003 server from the new laptop using what appears to be a similar setup.

When I try to connect the laptop Windows 7 on the Windows XP Professional computer, it passes through what appear to be the right steps (connection via...), but crashes and then click Verify the user and the password - eventually fails with a long message "(erreur 619: une connexion ne pourrait pas être établie...)."

  • My Windows 7 VPN does not connect. It is error 800. Help, please!

Hello. I am trying to connect to my VPN from a new location. It works very well in the past, but when trying to connect now it gives me error 800. I think it may have something to do with the internet connection at home that I am trying to connect from. I have to configure their router or something to allow my VPN to connect?

    The error reads as follows:
Connecting to remote.camposlaw.net using "WAN Miniport L2TP"...
Error 800: The remote connection has not been because attempts VPN tunnels failed. The VPN server is maybe inaccessible. If this connection tries to use an L2TP/IPsec tunnel, the required security settings for IPsec negotiation is may not be configured correctly. If you continue to receive error messages, you can enable logging for analysis.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • problem with windows 2003 vpn servers. and xp pro clients vpn using bridge nic

I have installed 2 guests windows 2003 on 2 laptops. both are configured with 1 CC of backend and frontend 1 nat/vpn server that has 2 interfaces, a bridge and one configured for host only.

I configure nat on both servers windows 2003 rras and vpn services and have them connected to my local network. they are able to access internet, ping between them and other computers on the network, as well as the host systems on which they run.

the problem is that I am not able to connect to the vpn servers remotely from inside a guest virtual machine. I wanted to try a vpn site-to site between the guests 2 windows 2003, but the operation failed.

I then tested customer to type of a guest virtual computer pro xp vpn server. It is also a failure.

but I discovered that if I initiate a VPN from any one of the host computer system laptop or another computer on the physical network I am able to connect to the vpn servers I have set up.

I wish I could have these laptops to operate normally and

time to time be able to turn on virtual machines with vpn

laptop computers are running xp pro and vista ultimate as the host systems. I'm only using the windows firewall but also tested with them disabled vpn connections. also launches the service ipsec on laptops to secure internal lan traffic, I have also tested with two guests with disabled ipsec.

is there something I'm missing here with the installation of the vmware bridge network?

Oh I forgot to mention, I test using pptp and ms-chap v2

I managed to do work by unchecking the tcp/ip settings and the microsoft file sharing on the bridged NIC resaeau.

now it works very well but who explain to me why it cannot work when you are using the same network as the host card. they all have two different ip addresses and mac addresses. but something seems to be in conflict

The shared secret is a sort of password. It is defined by the VPN server, then this would be the place to start looking. Personally, I have no experience in running Windows Server VPN service, so I can't be more specific, but I hope that puts you in the right direction.
