Windows 7 "Windows is unable to complete format.

I know this question has been asked before, but after trying about all the options given I still have not solved the problem with my laptop.
Running Windows 7 64 bit, I used DVD-R to store my back upwards and them reused several times.
When the last, I tried to run a backup I need to make a new back upward and therefore need a blank disc.
So I decided to format a DVD-r, that I managed to do in the past.
But now I just keep, getting the message "Windows is unable to complete format.
I can format a CD - RW.
All advice welcome!

INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS FOR THE FIRST TIME

Hi, I am using the windows 7 Home premium with Sony Vaio netbook.  This message appears when I've been windows installation since it is newly purchased, "Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, run the Setup again"when I click ok, and then the computer restarts automatically and then come back to this message. I reboot several times but the result was always the same. Home premium to Windows 7 has been with the netbook already, so I don't have the Disc... can someone help me solve this problem? Thank you very much

My colleague has had a similar problem when she came back to the States with a new Vaio from Sony, I didn't just run recovery and reinstall Windows and its worked good since. She even gave me a hug for fixing.

The problem seems to be the OOBE which would suggest its more hardware than windows, but I understand your nature, you want to be right about everything.

  • Unable to complete format of DVD

I have Vista Home Premium (32-bit version) on my laptop (Packard Bell EasyNote S4947).  The CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive is Matshita UJ - 850D ATA Device (DVD +/-RW).  When I try to burn files to a DVD (+ R and + RW), I get a message error "Windows could not complete the format".  Memory, I have not had this problem when I had Windows XP, before moving on to Vista.

My Windows Update is automatically set to install updates every day, including the recommended updates and Microsoft Update.  However, in reading the ID931654 Article, I noticed that Windows Vista Service Packs 1 and 2 had not been installed.  So I installed these, but I still have the same problem of formatting of DVD.  I then ran "DVD Driver Software Update" in the Device Manager, and who says that things were updated.  I also ran that File Checker tool system and has not found any breach of integrity.

Article ID 931654 mentions two fixes for the problem of formatting.  However, they do not seem to cover the 32-bit versions of Vista, and I guess that all relevant patches have been included in Service Packs 1 and 2 so there is no point in installing them separately?

What else can I try? !!

Hi adding more software actually aggravate the problem because these can often interfere with each other.
Try to uninstall ALL software burner/DVD that do not come with the computer - REBOOT - and then run
through the steps that I posted above. You can always add the software that you want to use later. Do you have

    Hi ghbritton,

    ·         This happens with all new disks in DVD - RW you try?

  • Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit OS is unable to complete the installation.

Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit OS is unable to complete the installation.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 of 2007 which came with Vista and has been updated 2 years later at 7 w. I had to reinstall 7 W... 3 or 4 times since 2010. I guess that my machine can't handle W7 very well.

My current problem started with a BSOD problem. After trying some suggestions Internet on how to solve this BSOD problem that did not work, including repair of Windows, I did a data back up mode without failure and then decide to reinstall Windows 7 from the MS CD. My level of understanding is limited, but as noted, I've done this before with success. What I didn't understand is there seems to be another unsolved problem which does not allow the complete reinstallation of windows.

I did a clean install, then a formatting and in both cases, W7 could not complete the installation. It progresses to the final stage of "complete installation" and then there is a second error message 1 that I can't read... "" a problem has been detected... close... "."  It seems to be a reboot loop.

I have since read that the original BSOD problem and the 'detected problem' could also well be linked to the display driver. And this driver it must be disabled before performing a Windows installation. But I'm not able to access Safe Mode or the control panel to turn it off. If this driver is the problem, is there another way to turn it off?

Or are there any other suggestions on how to complete the installation of the operating system?

    Thank you.
