Windows 7 Workgroup cannot see his own pc on network

Had a problem with a small network of computers (5).  Some had defined homegroup, all removed from the home group and put in place a working group.  all works fine except a single computer.  Some may see it, others not.  The pc is not working cannot see themselves on the network, but everyone sees.  Why is he not being visible on the network including that the pc when the list is the list which is on its network, it sees not itself?

Help!

I solved the problem myself.

I finished my network adapter using the following command as an administrator to reset:

ipconfig/release

ipconfig / renew

netsh advfirewall reset

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

He began to appear.

I then had to go back into the early sharing and allow sharing of files.

Seems to have everything cleared up.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    • Your computer is connected to the domain?

There could be several reasons for this cause and to diagnose the problem, we can try the following steps and check.

Step 1: Check if the network discovery is turned on.

Please refer to: enable or disable network discovery

Step 2: Check Event Viewer for detailed information on the problem. Consult the following links.

    Open event viewer

What are the information in event logs? (Event Viewer)

Step 3: Search the computer browser service, if it is running.

    1. click on Start, type services.msc in the start search.

    2. search for the computer browser service.

    3. right click on the computer browser service and select Properties. Check if it is started.

    4. If it is stopped, select Start or restart. Make sure that the service is started and set as Automatic.

    5. click apply and OK, if you make any changes.

Step 4: Temporarily try to disable the antivirus on the computer program and check if the problem persists. If you are able to connect, you may need to check for updates and firewall settings in the security software.

Note: Check that you activate your anti-virus protection on the computer back after you complete these steps. It is not recommended to disable these settings on the computer. It's just to solve the problem.

    Disable the anti-virus software

Step 5: Make sure that the name of the network working group is the same for all computers. Also try disabling some protected sharing and check for the issue.

    1. Open advanced sharing settings by clicking theStart button, thenControl Panel. In the search box, type network, click network and sharing Center, and then in the left pane, click change advanced sharing settings.

2 click to expand the current network profile.

    3. by password protected sharing, click turn off password protected sharing, and then click save changes.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Also, try to perform a SFC scan to see if it solves the problem. Read the following article.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

  • Win 7 computer cannot see the computers on the network

We have 3 computers on our network. A desktop computer running a laptop running Win 7 x 64, an office equipped with Win Vista and Win XP. All 3 are connected to the same workgroup and are properly connected to the internet. The two workstations can see and the laptop on the network and can move the files to the laptop, but the laptop cannot see other computers on the network. Whenever I try to open the network to move files to another computer, the icon just mouse sits and turns and the page remains blank. I thought that maybe he just needs time to see everything, left like that for hours without success. I went through all the troubleshooting steps in the win7 with nothing working Help Center. I don't understand why, if all the computers are on the same network, they can see me, but I don't see them. I am obviously connected properly so they can move the files to my computer. It may be unrelated, but I also can't update windows, keep getting error 80246008 when I try to run the update. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this?

  • Cannot see other computers on my network

Santa brought me a new laptop for Christmas.  I'm now 4 laptop computers on a network.  two are Windows XP home and turn in XP Pro and it is Windows 7 starter.  I have everything in the same workgroup and put the new in this group as well.  Sometimes I can connect to others of my new machine, and sometimes I can't.  Not sure why.  Also, I have tried to share folders of the new machine, but cannot open them on other machines.  Of course, since I've not had much experience with 7 I have a bit of a problem to determine what to do next.  Can anyone help?

  • Cannot see SIN on my local network by its name (Linksys EA4500)

    Hello

I just bought a new EA4500 and implemented at home. Most of the stuff worked like a charm, except one. I don't see my NAS Synology on my network domestic byt its name.

I have the router connected to the internet (local ISPS, PPPoE). I have the NAS connected by wire, two Windows 8 PCs connected wireless. There is also a TV (wired connection), a printer, some phones Windows and heightens. One of the PC does not see the SIN (the other can). It can connect to it by its IP address (in the browser, by ping), he can see his Media Server (I can play the music of the NAS in my Media Player), the TV sees the SIN as a DLNA media server... But the PC does not see the NAS by name.

If I have a list of the devices connected on the router, I can see the NAS and its name. But the PC can't. What's wrong?

Both computers have enabled file sharing. I have same SSH was to the NAS ind successfully ping the PC by name. For full disclosure, the PC has VMWare installed with the Windows 7 virtual machine.

I does no settings to the router other than using the Cisco Connection Wizard and disabling wifi comments.

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

Thank you. Any reboot didn't help. It happed to resolve itself eventually. I've been playing with the wifi and FIPS set parameters (and not defined). Then it worked. No idea if it was a coincidence.

  • Cannot see other computers on the network

    Am on XP SP3.
When I go to network connections,
    Right-click on local area network
Click Properties under the general tab,
Click on install and click Service
.. all I see is a list for a McAfee driver but nothing for Microsoft. I removed my computer some time ago with McAfee & he must have created problems that I can't see other computers on the network. Is there a Microsoft driver, I need to install and which will help to solve the problem of not seeing other computers on the network.

On the general tab of the properties of your network connection to the LAN card, you should see a box under the heading "this connection uses the following items."  Most Windows XP configurations for home use have 4 entries in this box: Client for Microsoft Networks, QoS Packet Scheduler, file sharing and printers for Microsoft Networks, and Internet (TCP/IP) Protocol.

If you don't have these, you need to install, even if you really need not the Scheduler of QoS packages.

You seem to have got almost to the right place, but be aware that when you click on the button 'Install' in the box, you are given 3 choices: customer, Service and Protocol.  The "Client for Microsoft networks" is obviously a "customer." 'Internet (TCP/IP) Protocol' is a 'Protocol' and the other two are "Services".

    What elements you have installed?

I can't see other computers on the network from my office, but if I type in \\xxxxxxxxxxx I'm able to get on the other computers on the network. How can I have them automatically appear?

I'm terribly sorry for wasting your time.

I realized what the problem was. I've implemented the new computer exactly as the old, same name and everything. Come and find the computer name of the computer being the same as the old conflict and did not again see what was on the network.

So the trick was unplug the old computer from the network.
  • my computer hp laptop window xp does not see his CD/dvd-rom after fomating of the system

How to restore my CD-ROM/dvd-rom for my system again? This has happened once the system has been formatted. HP Windows xp

    Hello

You receive messages or error codes?

This can happen if the CD\DVD drive requires updates to the firmware or need to assign a drive letter for the same.

Since you formatted the Windows XP system, you can check out the link to HP support and check if it helps.

CD/DVD drive is not detected (Windows XP, ME or 98)

Important: Change the BIOS (Basic input output system) / Semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

We can also refer to article and check if it helps.

Your CD or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Important: The article mentioned above, including the HP support article contains steps to change the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, follow the steps from the link below:

  • Windows Media Player cannot see the music files, but Realplayer works perfectly - what is happening?

I am under w7 pro on a laptop, after the death of my desktop pc. After transferring my music files, I found that wmp is not working properly, although realplayer works perfectly. I prefer wmp, but it simply doesn't. The symptoms are:
    1. it shows all media in the library even if the music library is full of music when seen with explore.
    2. If I select a file in Explorer, it will play in wmp and is added to the library, but no other files cannot be added.
    2. library management does not work because after pressing 'manage libraries', then 'music', nothing else appears.
    3. There is no sheet set for extraction of the files (just a white in the location box) and 'change' has no effect.
I tried the troubleshooting fix, which simply says that my mediaplayer library is corrupt, but nothing else.
I also tried to remove appsdata/microsoft/mediaplayer files and even entire directory after checking the tips from microsoft on the net for another user. WMP is
supposed to automatically rebuild the library and start again, but she just starts with a library empty unless any of the symptoms above are fixed.
I understand that wmp cannot be uninstalled and reinstalled, if anyone has any suggestions for my next step? As I said, the music library itself should be fine as Realplayer works very well.
