I get a popup stating the windows key that I use is not valid.
Activate Windows when already activated?I just did a major update to my computer with a new motherboard, video card and processor, and now I get a popup stating the windows key that I use is not valid. The key on the sticker still gives me the same error. Any advice? Activate Windows when already activated?
If your copy of WIndows was preinstalled, it rests on an OEM license.
These licenses cannot be moved to the new motherboard, except under the conditions of warranty replacement.
You will need to purchase a new complete commercial for Windows license.

Old license Windows XP Home Edition (HP) is not valid
Hi guys,.
I recently had to format & reinstall the pc of my father, who has a sticker of xp of windows with the license on this subject.
The sticker says "Windows XP Home Edition HP", but when I try to install WinXP with this license, he said that the license is not valid.
I used the WinXP it SP3 CD, because I can't find the original CD of Windows XP without Service Pack anywhere,.
is this the problem or can I use an old XP license it to install XP SP3 it?
If this isn't the problem, could someone help me know what is the problem?
Thanks in advance,
Dave
What is the make and model of this PC?
It is important that the media matches the license. So, if the license is an OEM version of XP Home, only an OEM XP Home CD work. A XP Home retail CD are bad media.
Assuming that you have the correct CD, make sure you enter all characters correctly. Make sure that you enter not an 8 for a and B, for example.

Microsoft Update fails to install updates and provides no information whatsoever (other that the installation has not of course).
But the only update I could not go to Microsoft Download Center (fromwhich I could install (nearly) all updates Microsoft Update do not reach), is an update to Windows Security Essentials, which is registered on Ms Update but not available from the Ms Download Center, and which is not detected by Win Security Essentials Update button (this show error code is 0 x 80240022).
There is definitely a problem with my Ms Update. I tried three different solutions on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 and no fixed it.
How can I solve this problem with Ms Update?PA Bear wrote:
If you didn't go back to IE6 before you did the repair facility, I can assure you that IE8 nor Windows XP working properly, so your update problems, the MSE problem and possibly the rootkit infection.
In response, John wrote:
I'm going to uninstall IE8, make sure that IE6 is running and then do the repair install from the Windows CD.
Too late now, my friend. Running another repair facility - even if you can uninstall IE8 (which you can not according to your last post) - won't fix everything.
Your only recourse now is to a format the hard drive & then (b) make a clean Windows installation.

Hi, I installed a Windows update when my computer froze, so I turned it off and back on, now I can't even boot to the installtion disk supplied with the computer. When I hit F8 reapeatedly and select one of the available options, the computer contiually restarts and will not even go into safe mode. I tried hitting ctrl-alt-del, which brings me just for the system configuration menu. I even tried a software that is supposed to start any computer with any problem, and I get the same results I get with the installation CD. (Blue screen with error message: STOP 0x0000c1F5 (0x00000000, four times).) I can't do anything with it, can you help me!
