Windows desktop extends beyond the edges of the screen to the external monitor.

I have a laptop Sony Vaio with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I connected the laptop to my Samsung HDTV via HDMI 24 ". I put it to only show the desktop on the HD TV, but the Office extends beyond the borders of the HDTV screen. The screen resolution is set at 1280 x 720, which is native to the computer, I assume (and is a native of HDTV), because it is "recommended" setting windows I tried other resolutions without success, at some resolutions of the Office does extend as far beyond the borders of the HDTV, but no resolution, I can get a full view of the desktop. I went through the menu of the HDTV, and there are no settings that affect the problem. I think I saw something, somewhere has said how to solve this problem the first time I plugged the computer laptop to this HDTV (in this context), that the Office has been shown correctly after you follow the instructions on the popup dialog box, or any that I have seen this information) , but now I am facing this problem with no instruction on how to fix the problem at this time. A screenshot shows the entire office, not only what I see on the HDTV screen.

After having said all that, I found that a resolution of 1600 x 900 puts the entire desktop on the screen, but it has very thin black borders and the text is so small I can barely read. Also at this resolution, screen appears nervous, but I can't change the Hz, who looks like 50 Hz or 60 Hz, it is too small and the text is indistinct. I don't think that I couldn't bear to look at the screen for a long time at this resolution.

What intrigues me the most is that it worked the first time I'm connected. I have also a desktop connected to the HDTV, but by the VGA connector and the resolution, it is set at 1280 x 720 native resolution of the HDTV and the office is very well, printing is clearly readable and there is no jitteryness.

TV is designed to "overscan" the area of the input signal.  This is why video editors must ensure that labels and legends fit within the "security of title area.

Some TV designed to be used as product views or big screens (for example the retail stores) have options to disable overscan, but most of the consumption patterns are not.
Your best bet is to use the "native resolution" of television, or the exact number of points, he did, so that he doesn't have to stretch or scale the image.  Sometimes your graphic card has overscan settings options too.  I know with certainty that most model ATI video cards do.  To access it, right click on your desktop and go to the resolution of the screen, then click the advanced settings link.

  • How is the ComboBox extends beyond the borders of the window?

I noticed that the ComboBox control may extend beyond the borders of the window. I would like to implement something like that to a custom control of the mine, but can't find a way to do it. I know that happens simply to allocate a large enough value via setVisibleRowCount, but what interests me is how the combobox can be larger than the pane that is in that I can copy this behavior for my own control.

Here is a screenshot to clarify what I mean.

    Thanks in advance

The part of the ComboBox popup is represented by a PopupControl. It's a subclass of window, it is not constrained by the limits of the window in which is placed the ComboBox control.

  • Photo extends beyond the image in PDF format

Adobe InDesign CS 3 on PC platform. I have a problem recurring and random whereby when I import a picture in a picture frame, and then make a PDF, one or many edges of the photo extends beyond the image in the PDF file.  The photo is fine in InDesign. How to solve this problem?  Example is found in the attached PDF, page 2, the photo with the caption that begins with "material ships Aeroglide in large modules...". »

What is the difference between the width of the image and the width of the image? If it is less than 3.2 mm (and it sounds like it could be), then you can see the same bug that Andrew Millar described last month:

    http://forums.Adobe.com/message/2534024

The problem occurs in InDesign CS3 and CS4 on Mac & PC (XP) (10.5.8). If you have a picture in a picture frame and the frame is crop the image less. 0625 "(1/16th) * and you export a PDF the frame disappears." This reveals the image that shouldn't be there.

If crop you the image. 0625 * or more or if the frame fits the image is no problem. The image is not move or scale when that happens, you get just a small piece of the picture that should not be there.

    • I don't know about the exact measure, I know that 1/16 works around a 1/64 is not (Yes we have that picky customers)

So if you can invent your image more than 1.6 mm larger than the frame (just sufficient it a fraction) on all the edges, this bug should stop biting according to tests of Andrew. It will take about 58.5 mm width if this framework is 55 mm wide.

  • Windows jump out of the screen and an external monitor

I have an external monitor connected to my MacBook Air.  When I turn off the external monitor (MacBook cover is already closed at that time) and return hours later to turn on the monitor, I find most of my windows have been dispersed (jumped) off the screen.  It occurs on multiple applications: terminal, iMail, browser Chrome, Preview, etc...  I usually find the window peeking out of the side of the screen - a small shard of window - and I have to drag it to the center of the screen.  I have to do for almost all windows (again not all windows to do this).  Its very annoying.  Any ideas on what is the cause?

I am running v10.11.1 El Capitan (B 15, 42) on MacBook Air (13 inch, mid 2013).  External monitor is Dell.

I forgot to mention.  It happens all of a sudden... eventually after the upgrade to El Capitan?  (but I am not sure).

  • Need to reset the external monitor resolution in Windows Vista

Stupidly, I changed the resolution of my new external monitor on my laptop to a not available (single mode external monitor) and received a message on the screen: "out of range" + white screen. No matter how hard I tried, I can't use one external monitor mode and must live with double display (which is a waste of energy on my tiny laptop screen). Could someone tell me please how to reset the resolution setting in Vista for the external monitor?

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

You can try the steps below and check if the problem is resolved.

You can go to the control panel of the screen and reset it to factory settings.

And if you face the same problems, then, you must contact your system provider who will be in a better position to help you reset the external screen to its default state.

As a workaround, so check you have function keys on your portable computer, which can go from a monitor to your laptop and external monitor.

If Yes, then try to return to the screen of the laptop and turn off the external monitor.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Satellite U305: can't watch video on the external monitor on Vista with Dynadock

    Hi mates,

I have a Satellite U305 running Windows Vista, I also bought a VGA Dynadock with HP 20 "external monitor.

I have uppdated all Dynadock readers (Audio, video, etc.) to the latest version, but DVD-video or MPEG video recorded with my camera is not possible to look at the monitor extended that in the main screen (laptop computer monitor).

For example, my DVD Toshiba drive works normally on the laptop monitor but when I transfer window extended monitor, Toshiba DVD Player stops to work.
Video does not work on the extended screen.

Is this OK or I did something wrong configuration? Is this a bug? If this is a bug, how to fix this bug?

I'm you worry because I plug a large external monitor to watch a few movies that I can't watch it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Nilton

I agree with the snipe of the user. The dynadock is simply not designed to transfer the enormous amount of data that accumulate to watch movies on DVD.
The USB ports are simply not designed for this

  • Portege Z830: I want to disable internal LCD and use only the external monitor

    I have a Toshiba Portege z830.
I use my laptop in "Extended desktop", mode with an external monitor, which is the main display.
In this mode, the two screens are still on, but I want the built-in LCD screen to be opened only when I use it.

    Is this possible?
    Thank you.

    Hello

In my opinion, this is not possible.
In extended mode, you use and display internal but extended and the long part is visible on the external monitor.
In such a case its any that your external monitor is set as main display.

If you want to use an external monitor only, you can only export the video signal on external monitor by pressing FN + F5

Sorry, I forgot to mention my hw: Satellite a100-02 b (geforce go 7600)

.. and when I reboot Vista behaves a little bit strange.
a few seconds, everything looks ok, but then it redefines the external monitor to 16-bit color and minimum Vfrequency (60 HZ)
and a message appears that the 'Desktop Manager' was closed due to a problem.

    Maybe it's because...
    (1) it is an old CRT, not especially known (standard pnp driver)?
    (2) the ability of the graphics card vista is not sufficient in this configuration?

I heard somewhere that there is a switch in the registry, which disables the dwm.exe test, if the material is
able to support the aero technologies. What is a way to fix it?

    Hello

I read about the registry hack that allows the function Aero Vista on graphics cards that are generally not able to manage the Aero feature.
But I don t think that the modified registry key might help with this problem!

In any case, I try to understand what you were doing on the laptop
You have turned on the display on the second external monitor, then you have changed the position of the screen (you turn the display) and you tried to use the Aero on the external monitor.
    Am I wrong?

Well, what to say, it s not easy to say if she s a problem or just a limitation of Vista Aero.
I have never tested or used Aero after the display has been set at another position.

I think you should test Aero on external monitor without rotation.

    Is there a question here?

Read your manuals and find a way to use your laptop computer based on the instructions from Sony to connect external (including projectors) monitors for the laptop.  Usually a connection (as you said Windows XP where you have published, probably VGA) for the monitor and a few buttons to tell the laptop to mirror or extend the display to the second monitor.

The FN + F5 keyboard shortcut is used for this purpose on many laptops. To determine what keyboard shortcut turns on another view, see the documentation that came with your mobile PC or go to the manufacturer's Web site. On my HP laptop, it's the F4 key, there two image from monitor on it.

    2. open Windows Mobility Center by clicking the Start button, click on the Panel, clicking Mobile PC, and then click Mobility Center Windows.

    Hello

Check with the manufacturer of the laptop's support, their books online and ask in their forums.
Some have special tools/methods to control one 2nd monitor other than Windows,

Right click on the desktop - properties Graphics

Right click on desktop - graphics Options

Right click on desktop - customize - display settings

These should help you to implement and control.
