Troubleshoot Windows install

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2438651

Unregister Windows Installer and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

1. in the menu 'Start', click on ' execute:.»

2. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

3. in the menu 'Start', click 'run '.

4. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec/regserver", and then press ENTER.

If this is insufficient, the I would say to install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and run that to remove the Java remains Setup files that can cause problems with your current installation.

Verify that the SYSTEM account has full control. If it does not, add the SYSTEM account with full control.

Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk.

    Fault Module name: igdumd64.dll
    Fault Module Version: 8.15.10.1749

    Hello

    1. when exactly you receive the error message?

2 have you made any changes to the computer before the show?

Method 1: Ffollow these steps and check if the problem persists.

Step 1: Try to boot in safe mode and check if the problem persists. Check out the following link to start the computer in safe mode

    Hi Craig,.

-Where you download Windows Installer from?

Possible causes of this error are:

-The file is corrupt, missing, or bad.

-The file is not designed for your version of Windows.

If the file or program you are trying to run is damaged or missing, Windows will be unable to run the file correctly and generates this error message. Re-download the file install the same.

  • Windows error messages install 1601 and 1635

My Gateway computer works very well except for all Microsoft Office like Word, Excel and Outlook programs.  My Quickbooks Easy Start is to have the same problems.  Until the 10/30 each of them worked well, too.  I did a big cleanup with my system Suite 9 Professional to get the PC to move faster on th 30 and after that I started to have a problem with the programs listed above, it seems that it was not installed for this user, but the installer is not able to install it for me.  I can open them, but they close after that Setup has failed.  I tried to open Word on Mode without failure and received the error 1601.  I tried to open Excel (in normal mode) with the same problems except that I got Windows Installer error 1635.
I've been on this site by following the advice.  I checked to see if my Installer is activated, it is.  I downloaded RegCure and used, cleaned my computer, it has not fixed the problem of Microsoft Windows.  I also downloaded another download on the same page as RegCure, but he would not complete the installation because I think that it is a Microsoft application.
I am also getting the message: "the Patch Package could not be opened. Verify that the Patch Package exists... Make sure it is a valid Windows Installer patch package"when I try to repair or reinstall Microsoft programs using the disc that came with the computer.  Whenever I use Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003 (supplied with the computer) to reinstall or repair programs, I get the message, "this is not a gateway system.  I know me, because I told gateway right on my hard drive.
Help!  I am about at my wit's end!

    Hi Johnna4001,

    Please, try the following.

    1. Download, install and then run the Windows Installer CleanUp utility to remove the Windows Installer registry settings that are associated with your Office installation. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

      MSICUU2.exe (http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe)

119591 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/119591/) how to obtain Microsoft support files from online services

Microsoft scanned this file for the virus. Microsoft used the most current virus detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on secure servers that prevent any unauthorized in the file changes. If you are running Windows NT 4.0 or Microsoft Windows 2000, click the following link to download and install the Windows CleanUp utility.

    2. To use the Windows CleanUp utility, follow these steps:
      1. Click Start, point to programs, and then click Windows Installer Clean Up.
      2. Select the program you want to remove, and then click Remove.
      3. Click OK, and then click exit.

290301 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/) Description of the Windows Install CleanUp
  • Run the Office Setup program to reinstall Office.

Note Because the Windows Installer CleanUp utility removes Windows Installer-related registry settings and not the Office program files, ensure that you install Office in the same folder where it was originally installed to prevent duplication of files on your hard drive.

  • Error: "Windows Media Center has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution. "when tried to open it after installing the KB983590 update

Original title: WMC no longer works after update of August 10

Windows Media Center has stopped working after installation of my Windows 7 Professional pc all 11 updates gave me on August 11, 2010. I used system restore to the day before the updates, and install them individually. The first 9 no trouble with WMC. But the IE8 KB982664 for Windows 7 compatibility view list caused my action center to report that I needed to check the undeclared solutions to problems. WMC would still start. But after installing KB983590 .NET framework 3.5.1 for Windows 7 x 86, WMC has stopped working.

After you uninstall update 2 above WMC would still not start.

After using the system again restore forward updates, I installed the other 9 updated with, so far, no problem with WMC.

If you do an internet search, you will see this seems to be a fairly common problem, but I can't find any official solution of Microsoft. Hi guys

I had installed up-to-date antivirus software and my problem seems to start after an update from Microsoft. Do a search on the web and you will see similar stories. I spent so much time trying to solve this I think it's better just to do a re-install. Certainly not the resolution I had hoped, but appreciate this type of questions are almost impossible to solve the problems through intermittent mail such messages.

    Hi madjid Susanto,.

    • Did you the latest changes on the computer?

    Method 1

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails then I would suggest that you post your request in the forums of Windows live for better assistance.
