Windows Firewall must be started manually after each reboot.

I recently installed MS Essentials instead of Kaspersky.  Now whenever I boot my laptop running Vista with all latest updates, I have to start the WF of the warning icon in the system tray.  It doesn't on my desk, where I also recently replaced Kaspersky with MS Essentials, which has XP with all the latest updates and where the firewall starts automatically.  How can I make Windows firewall switch at startup?

Hello

1. you have multiple anti-virus installed on the computer? You have uninstalled Kaspersky completely?

2. do you receive any error messages? You have installed any third-party firewall on your computer?

Method 1:

I suggest you to make sure that Kaspersky is not present in the computer. Check if it is correctly uninstalled.
Integration of WF in MSE

Have an active firewall belongs to secure your PC. During installation, Microsoft Security Essentials scans the PC to determine if a firewall is enabled on the PC. If no firewall protection is present, you can turn on the firewall of Windows Firewall.Windows integrated with MSE. If any other firewall is on the Windows Firewall is disabled

Problem could be because traces of Kaspersky firewall. We will totally remove it using the Kaspersky removal tool

Method 2: Set the startup type for the Windows Firewall Service to Automatic. To do this, follow these steps:

a. click Startand run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

b. double-click on firewall Windows Service.

c. If you receive a message indicating a Configuration Manager, click OK.

d. in the Startup Type list, click Automaticand then click OK.

e. close Services.

f. restart the computer and check.

Repeat and follow the same procedure for the dependency service of the Service Windows Firewall(i.e. the Base Filtering Engine Service & Service Remote Procedure Call)

Repeat the same for these services and make sure that it is started and set to Automatic.

Method 3: The system configuration utility
Follow these steps to configure Windows Vista to start normally.

a. click Startand then click run.

b. type msconfigand click OK. The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

c. click on the general tab, click Start Normal - load all device drivers and servicesand then click OK.

d. When you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

Method 4:
If the problem persists, I suggest you run the Fixit and perform the steps described in the article:

  • Create a Windows 7 user profile which resets after each reboot.

I want to configure a limited in Windows 7 user profile that performs the following steps after EACH restart or disconnection:

    • Reset the background / theme
    • Reset the desktop icons / shortcuts
    • Network mapped reset drives
    • Reset saved passwords
    • Delete the data stored since the last session
    • Remove newly installed applications / block the installation of the application
    • Reset the print queue to empty - if it was not already
    • Reset the default printer
    • Reset the homepage Internet Explore & settings
    • Reset the screen resolution

The idea is to create a profile for workstations in an office of the admin who works a bit like an internet café. They have a couple of shared workstations, a network printer, and they store the data on a file server and work on a local application server.

The current problem is that they constantly record their passwords, remove network drives and change the General configuration of work stations (by chance), which makes it difficult for other users to work - that they do not recognize the look & feel and now don't know where to do what.

I want to create a 'shared' user profile where they can log on, and everything looks familiar. All settings are saved as defaults and no matter what you do, as soon as you log out or restart, the parameters of return by default.

    I would appreciate help.

    Here are a few options:

    • Windows steady state (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/sharedaccess/default.mspx). The product is supported for Windows XP and Vista, but maybe it works for Windows 7 too. Or maybe there is an equivalent Windows 7 somewhere.

      Note this:
-Before starting, you must use the robocopy command in reverse so that it fills the C:\Users\UserName.bak folder.
-The task must be run under the system account.
-The task will run with the highest privileges.
-Use during the testing of the installation log file. Subsequently you can pass you.

All of a sudden the wireless connection fails to start. Right clicking and selecting 'Diagnose and fix' update option 'start Wireless Network '. By clicking on this solves the problem until the computer is restarted.
So, how can I make it permanent as it used to be? (Note: bluetooth and WiFi lights are light up front and aftering diagnosis)
Of course some service, etc. has changed, but I can't understand which should be set to 'automatic' or missing etc service/process.

    Notes:
I put everything as advised by the site of Black Viper for Vista Ultimate SP1 standard (sevices.msc).

Network and sharing Center is attributed to all (except password protected sharing)

System: Dell XPS M2010 (no hardware changes - all original)

    Hi James

Tried SFC/scannow - no problem found.

I tried services.msc - noticed WLAN on manual, set to auto, rebooted, the problem seems to be solved.

The big question is how does 'manual' - no account required to this idea is the only way that it connects to the home network and Internet.

So just to let it auto update do its thing and reload the Windows updates that may have been cancelled.

    Grateful for your assistance.

  • Downloaded Windows 10. Yet, after each reboot, windows 7 restart... no windows 10?

    Original title: Windows 10

I have a laptop with windows 7 installed. I ran a few the applet to see if the laptop is eligible. He did, and I see the windows icon 10 appearing in the task bar. I click on it to get the upgrade and windows starts the download process. Then after it is downloaded double click on the file and it seems to be the installation. This seems to go to the end and I restarted several times when asked to do so.

Yet, after each reboot, windows 7 restart... no windows 10.

    Review:

    Retry the upgrade manually:

    Option 1:

    Download the media creation tool

Click with the right button on the MediaCreationTool.exe file and then click on run as administrator.

Note: How to check if you are downloaded or installed the update Windows 10 November

How to create an ISO or USB drive.

Select upgrade this PC now and then click Next

    Option 2:

    Task of pre-required

When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
    • If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).

Hi Please help, my computer has been infected by a pretty nasty trojan, (MEREDROP) I managed to remove it (and all of its subsequent downloaded files), but it was very difficult. in any case since that my windows firewall does not start. I get the error code. 1075 and the msg (windows cannot start (ICS) internet connection sharing service). I tried to replace registry files, I tried the system restore, I tried to change the permissions, I tried to turn it on manually, I've updated my BITS. Ive also ensured that the dependent services are running. According to my list of component services, they are... Nothing works. I need to format the HD for this problem or is there a standalone windows firewall available for download?

Thanks for posting. Please note that the use of system restore after infection and removal of malware very probably re-infected your computer. Please follow all instructions on this thread HERE. Let us know the results.

  • Windows Firewall does not start I tried many routes to solve this problem, anyone know how to help I did a lot of different types of suggestions that I read on the net, and I'm still having no luck. Please can someone help?

Anyway I recently installed a Kaspersky Internet Security2010 trail version, I run Windows Vista, my computer is new, I know that there are no viruses, malware or spyware. However, I have this error code 6801, and I can not turn on the windows firewall. This started after I removed the version Kaspersky track. He also tells me that the associated program does not want to start "Yes or no" of course I tried yes then received this error 6801. I goggled the error and tried different ways to fix this error but still no luck. I'm a bit about computers, I checked the services and his here said automatic but not started. Tried again to start manually and this time it is said ' cannot start Firewall Win, if it comes to a product non-windows then contact suppliers and relay the error 6801.» So please if someone knows something I can do to solve this problem I do not have the disk to reboot vista and I'm losing my mind, I was in it for five days and his crazy wife. Another reason, I would like to correct this problem is I can not use my bitcomet torrent Downloader, I think that this problem of firewall is the problem because everything was going well until the Kaspersky was installed and then my router accidentally disconnected. Sorry for the hike, I'm very frustrated. Just for you all also say that I tried to port forward, with and without static ip and now I think I need to do something about this error until I can fix my bitcomet. I hope that someone takes the time to read this and respond, thanks hope someone soon!

  • Vista security question: my Windows Firewall must be on? The McAfee Firewall is enabled

I have Vista Home Premium. I got to enter the Dell support center. "I think this is the first time that I did. It showed that I have Windows Defender on, but not the Windows Firewall and it does not show that I have McAfee Sequrity Version 9.15. My question is #1. My Windows Firewall must be on? The McAfee Firewall is enabled. #2 Why do the McAfee security information appear in the General Info tab or the Security tab I'm sorry if this is such a fundamental issue that I know enough about computers to be dangerous.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I don't know why McAfee is not in the Security Center.

I can only answer to your question n ° 1... to omit the Windows Firewall. McAffe has its own firewall. If you expand the firewall section of the Security Center, you can see this note:

Two or more firewalls at the same time may conflict with each other.

    Hello

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

  • AVG detects viruses, C:\sccfg.sys if I scan and delete, it will appear after each reboot.

    Original title: C:\sccfg.sys

    AVG detects C:\sccfg.sys
    What is a rootkit?
How can I get rid of it permanently?
I ask AVG Anti-virus (free) to cope - AVV, then asks me to restart the computer
After the re - start AVG advises me that the threat has been eliminated.
AVG analysis finds no problem for the next (approx.) 2-3 weeks
Then, the threat is detected again.
I have lived this cycle several times now.
BUT I want to get rid of the threat for good.

Internet search suggests this threat comes from a program called "Folder Lock", (which I had installed for several years) but AVG has only been reported as a threat for maybe three months.
Research on the Internet tells me that the problem cannot be solved by uninstalling "Folder Lock"

How can I get rid of this threat?

    Hi Leeds,

It seems that AVG detects C:\sccfg.sys as virus, if you scan and delete, it will appear after each reboot.

Let's run the virus scan in safe mode with networking:

Check out this link to start your computer in safe mode with networking:

A description of the options to boot in Safe Mode Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222

After starting in safe mode with network, virus using AVG anti-virus scanner.

With AVG Anti-virus, perform a full scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

    Refer to this link:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Try this tutorial. It worked for me when I had Vista 32 bit. I used to have more than 150 shortcuts on deskops, and they tended to move 'by themselves' as you said. This tutorial below worked for me.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/save-and-restore-desktop-icon-layout-in-Windows-Vista/

Note: the tutorial is done for Vista 32 bit.

Is a 64-bit installation program which I have not tried. I can't guarantee that.

  • Windows Media Player 12 loses library at each reboot of the PC

WMP 12 loses the 'music' in the library after each reboot.  Often, I can get the music content by going to manage the library, by removing the file from WMP, wait 5 minutes, restart WMP, manage the library, add the folder.  But sometimes it refuses to find music and I give up.  A few days later I try again and it works.  When he's stubborn...

    • When I have completed the "add a folder" an arrow appears at the bottom of WMP, to the right of the volume control.  After a few seconds, it signals that the update of the library is finished but the library does contain no music, but sometimes playlists are OK
    • Remove the library files in %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player does not help.
    • I tried to launch WMP as an administrator. (Not something I really want long-term, but I'll give it a go for a temporary fix).

FYI, my music is on a NAS drive.  It doesn't matter if I'm pointing to the folder via a mapped drive or the full computer name & path.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Tim... It is almost certain because of the SIN. Take a look at this thread and see if there is anything useful here;

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-files/how-do-you-add-a-NAS-device-to-libraries/55447a3a-64c9-431C-ABCB-6f720fd0daaf

Another action that can help (although I'm not offer it as a solution!) is to check that your music + subfolders on the NAS drive is optimized for music by doing a right click and select Properties 'customize' tab and proceed as indicated below. Hope you can solve the problem - Cheers, Ric.

  • Folder permissions resets automatically after each reboot

    Hello

I have windows 7 x 64 user. There is a problem with google reader I need different from that of the default permissions for C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp. I changed the permissions in this way: make a right click-> Security-> advanced-> permissions-> change approval-> clicked on include... inherited permissions and replace the child object permissions... Also, the folder option, I changed the hidden folders. However, after each reboot, I see not hidden files (hidden folder option resets to do not show hidden file) and permissions for resetting folder above. What causes reset of the changed properties? I have no optimizer tool except ccleaner. I use mcafee antivirus. I think that mcafee is unlikely to cause this problem.
How can I solve this problem? I tried to make the batch file that runs boot, but I can't use option "inherit permissions". I give you the batch commands:
    ICACLS C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp /setowner directors
    ICACLS "C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp" / grant everyone: F
But these commands do not work to change the permissions in the manner described above.

There was a similar post last week which unfortunately has fizzed out (as do about 95% of all messages...).  Maybe you can gather enough energy not only to track down the source of your problem, but also post an answer here.

The following commands do not work:
    takeown /f "%Temp%" /.
    Cacls "%Temp%" / t/g everyone: F
    (answer Y to the prompt)
And Yes, I know cacls.exe is deprecated. But it still works!
