    Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    See basic troubleshooting: make a new profile:

    There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "tools > Modules > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

    If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • Re - turn on Defender windows manually

    I accidently turned off my windows defender and I tried to turn it back on via the features info help, but now it says that I have to turn it on manually and I can't find out how to do this.  Can someone please?

    Hello chattykathy,.

    However, if as Ken said, you have Microsoft Security Essentials, it will turn off Windows Defender.
    Other antivirus programs can do that too. Windows Defender is part of the Windows Vista operating system and cannot be uninstalled, it cannot be disabled.

    1. Open Windows Defender by clicking on the button start, clicking all programs, and then click Windows Defender.

    2. Click on tools and then click Options.

    3. Under the administrator options, select or clear the check box use Windows Defender and then click Save. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    I hope this helps.

    Norton is a 4 AVs programs (antivirus) which will stop Windows Defender.
    The reason is that Norton has its own advocate. Run 2 defenders in the same machine allows to create conflicts.
    So what you notice is normal.

    As for access to startup programs, defender of the window isn't the only way.

    Start > in the search box, type msconfig > Enter > Startup tab > here is the list of startup programs.

    To disable = uncheck the box in front.
    To activate = check the box opposite.

  • menu Spry disappears when the window browser pulled/stretched manually

    Hello

    my menu spry seems to disappear when the browser window is pulled/stretched manually expand beyond a certain point. He himself the stack when the window manually reduced to a narrower format. This is regardless of the float property, either to the right or left.

    I'm still at the stage of construction of the building/dev...

    {.menuWrapper}

    float: right;

    width: 60%;

    margin-top:-38px;

    }

    Thank you!

    There are two problems here.

    1. when the browser is an average width, any adjustments in place, no problem

    2. when the browser is reduced in width, there is not good enough real estate menu bar, so the last item of the menu, and then double to the high slot the MenuBar

    3. when the browser is expanded, the bar of menus is able to escape alongside the image of c2c_logo, but because you set a top margin-38px, the menu bar springs out of sight.

    Solution:

    1 give the menu bar more real estate to remove white space next to the actual image, which makes the smaller image or the default method, change the image to a background image. The latter will provide the best way to provide the necessary space for the menu bar.

    2. After doing the above, you will notice that the menu bar disappeared once more, the top margin should therefore be adapted. The top margin will be in the region of 120px

  • 8.1 Windows 64-bit and USB 3.0 connection error

    What a nightmare for me after I bought my G2 470 Probook with little window 8.1 64 and USB 3.0.  After my installation to my new laptop, there are 2 questions, I am facing now:

    1. my external USB 3.0 drive may work correctly with my old laptop window 7 with USB 3.0 input. However, my exernal USB 3.0 drive cannot work proplery when I try to connect it to my new laptop with little window 8.1 64. It shows me he cut sometimes, sometimes connect often and I can't remove the drive safely

    2. once the laptop set in place, there are 3 partition of HP, which is Windows (c, recovery (D and HP tools (E. I want to allocate more space fo save my old photo, HP technician told me to compress and release (about 150 GB) space on my C:.))) Can I use the new disk successfully. However it seems that I can't have the window manually updated, so I'm concerned if this is the point of mian to create this problem.

    HP technicians can help here?

    N ° there is no need to go to a command line and it is not all the DOS commands that will help.

    Consider using the Windows system restore to return the operating system of your laptop to a date before the start of this issue. Choose a restore point dated before the redone problem surface. Use the charm of the search and the type of restore. Select create a restore point. The System Properties window appears. Click System Restore, as shown in the following image.

    Make sure that the option to Show me the restore points more has a check mark in the box. Choose the restore point that you want, and then click Next. It is safe and reversible.

  • Windows Update froze my computer

    My Windows XP pro service pack 3 Auto turned into a brick.  (IE8)  I finally used in June 2013, and it worked very well.  On October 12, 2013 I turned it on and it does nothing.  The problem was caused by something that happened when the aircraft attempted to do the automatic update of Windows.  I managed to open the Task Manager and saw the CPU pegged at 100%.  The culprit was one of the svchost file.  So then I used the utility windows Explorer process to identify and disable the problem, which was windows update file.  With the windows update file stopped, the machine works normally.  I tried to make the windows manually update and had no success.  The cpu went to 100% and the machine froze.  I left it on all night, looking for updates and the morning revealed that he had tried to install an update, but the installation failed.  I'm guessing that some update issued between June and October 12 is the cause.  Can anyone give me some ideas on how to correct the problem, other than leaving the updates turned off.

    Hallelujah! I have my computer back.  Here's what I had to do.

    1. I did a fresh install of Windows XP Pro (not a repair, but I formatted the hard drive first).
    2 installed service pack 2 on a drive that I had, but it is available on the web, if you're looking for.
    3 installed the service pack 3 on the web (do a search found).
    4 tried to do the Windows updates, but could not. Kept getting error 0x8024D001.  So I did a search on this error message and found that I needed to install an update from Windows Update version. I found this one installed it.  Here's where I got it from.

    5. the new program Windows Update worked and I was off to the races. Must have been at least 200 updates. Had to reboot and run Windows update several times to get all the. But in the end, I have the machine is working back again.
    Hope this helps some of you people who are tearing your hair because the Windows updates turned your computer into a brick.

  • Cannot install the fax in windows xp sp3

    When I try to install the fax component, the installation is complete. However, I don't see the fax software installed in the start menu > all programs > Accessories > communications... what could be the problem? Please help me. I use windows xp pro service pack 3.

    I'm afraid that I don't have a solution proven to this situation.  The following might work, but I do know for sure that he will do so.

    Log in as a user with "Computer administrator" privileges

    Create a Restore Point or back up the registry with C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT , or for protection full and create and save a disc image, use something like Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost, Casper or similar.

    In order to decompress the files you downloaded, you must use the EXPAND command from a command prompt window.  Let me suggest the following method:

    • Create a new folder in the same directory as the file containing the compressed files. For example, suppose you have extracted the files in a folder on your desktop named XPFax (C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop\XPFax). Create a new folder on your desktop named XPFaxOut (C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop\XPFaxout)
    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Type the following line in the window command prompt black, substituting your correct username and you have used the folder names and press Enter (the text will wrap below, but only press enter at the end of the line)

      EXPAND C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop\XPFax\*.* C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop\XPFaxout\ r

    At this point, your XPFaxout should have all of the 35 files with the correct file extensions (DLL, EXE, etc.).

    Copy the files as follows:

    Copy 19 DLL files and 4 EXE files in C:\Windows\system32

    Copy the same files DLL 19 and 4 EXE files in C:\Windows\system32\dllcache

    Copy the 3 files in CHM and HLP on C:\Windows\Help 1 file
    Copying 1 file to C:\Windows\addins ECF
    Copy 1 INF file in C:\Windows\inf
    Copy 1 file INI to C:\Windows\system32
    Copy the 1 H file in C:\Windows\system32
    Copy the 4 VOC files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\Common Coverpages

    You have now all the files where they are supposed to be.

    Now follow the instructions here--> http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/118058-45-install-windows-manually

    Good luck... and let us know if it works.

  • I would like to divide Explorer in several windows on the moniter

    Hello

    Just in case you may have about the Quick tabs:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/is-is/Windows7/using-Quick-tabs-in-Internet-Explorer

    You should still be able to display multiple windows with Vista and IE8 or IE9.

    If you have opened Web pages in multiple windows, not tabs, click right on (an empty area of) the Windows task bar and choose Cascade or show windows stacked or shop windows nearby.

    You may need to resize and rearrange the windows manually.

    If you had a button for tile automatically windows 4, 6 or 8, what may have been a third-party utility that you downloaded. Try a search on the web for something like "freeware tile windows.
