  • Videos removed from Windows Media keeps returning

For months I have REMOVE some old videos in my Windows Media Player.  They suppress with I also say to remove it from the computer and they disappear for a week or two.  Then about 2 weeks or so later, when I go into my Player Windows media - will they once again - the exact same old videos that I deleted previously.  I did about 3 - 4 times now and with the same results.  HOW can I get this old videos out of my windows media player for GOOD?    Thank you.

    Hello

    a. you delete videos from the Player library or the hard drive itself?
    b. you are able to play these videos that appear after deleting?

I think that you delete the files from the media player library.

This problem can occur if the media library is corrupt. Rebuild the library and check if this solves the problem.

    Follow these steps:
    1. exit Windows Media Player.
    2. click on start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.
    3. Select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.
Note: you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.
    4. restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. exit Windows Media Player.
    2. click on start, run, type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.
    3. Select the Media Player folder, and then click on Delete on the file menu.
    4. restart Windows Media Player.

    Hello Lai,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

If it works well before? If YES, you did important equipment or modifications to the software on the computer before this problem?

The issue could rest with the material if it is a keyboard mapping problem. Then, I recommend you to connect an external keyboard with the ultrabook and check. If the external keyboard works fine, then you may need to contact the manufacturer of your system (hp) for the same problem.

If you get the same problem with the external keyboard, the issue may rest with the keyboard or corrupt drivers.

In this case, I suggest you to update the drivers for the chipset of your ultrabook. You can view the following link to do so:

Spectrum of HP XT Pro Ultrabook

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

    Hello

    1. have you made software changes recently?

    Method 1.
It seems that there is a background app that launches the installer of Windows. We can perform a boot minimum troubleshooting to find the same thing. You need to perform a clean boot to find the program that is causing and then disable or remove.

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow the steps as explained in the article to reset the computer to start as usual.

    Method 2.
Also, I recommend reregister you the Installer engine.
    Here's how:
    a. Click Start, click Accessories and then click command prompt.
    b. at the command prompt, type the following and press ENTER after each line:

    MSIExec /Unregister

    MSIExec/regserver

  • Please can someone explain why the windows Installer keeps appearing when nothing is installed? Any way to stop this?

Why the Windows Installer keep popping up, either on a web page or an e-mail to the office when nothing is installed.  No way to stop that... ?

The desktop of your computer, click on the tab "Start", usually located at the bottom left of the screen (on Vista, it's maybe the windows symbol instead of the word 'Start').

Now, find and click on the program title 'run '. Vista users can locate this program by typing "run" in the area of research at the bottom of the menu 'start '.

Once you open 'Run', type 'MSCONFIG' in the empty box and click 'OK '. This will open the System Configuration utility.

With the open System Configuration utility, select the tab "Services".

Scroll down the list of services (it may be advantageous to click on the 'service' column to sort the services by alphabetical order) until you find the program "Windows Installer".

Now, click on the checkbox next to the name of the Windows Installer and click on the button 'Disable' at the bottom of the Configuration of the system.

I don't know how it happened, but almost every icon on my desktop has changed the logo of windows media player and everthing I click trys to load into windows media rather than the appropriate format player.
