Windows media player inoperative following microsoft automatic update

Same problem, others have complained about error C00D1163 code;
When you try to play a DVD on my PC using Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc.. I get an error that reads: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD drive decoder and video card protection. Try to install a driver available for your video card. I searched everywhere for an answer and although there seems to be a LOT out there with the same problem, I can't seem to find a straight answer. All Microsoft support is appreciated.

I would like to use windows media center to playy DVD but that stop working 2 months after I bought the new computer with Vista Home premium os.  I have followied the advice of the previous response which led to the addition of a plug-in like MS dierected me on another site. They wanted money for the fix. I have already paid for once Mr. Gates-this is the new method of generating revenue for you? Good obsolencence planned concept that only of cash infusions can fix. If it does not apply in many can repair you the defective product, I paid for?

Hi HNLPMX,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Forum!

To prevent the illegal creation of digital copies of DVD, information on most of the DVDs are blurred.

Your DVD decoder and Windows Media Player have software to copy protection that decodes the information on the DVD just before posting. If this software does not start successfully, you may receive the error C00D1163.

You can check the link that talks about you get the below error message:

  • Windows Media Player - library & follow-up of files

    Hello

I have problems with Windows Media Player and library. I have my collection of music in a separate partition, previously, I put the correct folder through tools > Options > library > deal of the screen and it would add all files to the library and automatically updates I added new files/folders. Today, when I opened WMP it says there is no evidence in the library and I'm not aware of making changes in my music folder. If I try to add the folder to watch, and then click ok nothing happens and when I immediately back to the folders tab the folder I just added is not there. It's almost like it doesn't recognize it as a media is the folder.

I also tried to download the Zune player and I have the same problem as I said my music folder location, but he says there is nothing there

I can play music with both players by opening that file directly from its folder location, but it is not the easiest way to use to

I am completely baffled by what I don't understand what could have changed to stop this work

    I hope someone can help

I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists. Tim Baets
