Windows Pro 8.1 with touch Pro 8 upgrade

Previously, I bought Windows 8 Pro and installed on my old laptop. I now have a new HP 15 - n268sa which came with pre-installed Windows 8.1 Basic version. I want to upgrade to the Pro version, but since my key is for Pro 8, will I need to perform a clean Windows 8 Pro first, installation using my key, before the update to 8.1? Or is there a way to do basic 8.1?

I have already disabled the key on my old laptop so it should be free to use, just can't find a way to do it without a clean install.

Thank you!

Hello

Yes, you must do a clean install. But I don't think that you can move the key from one machine to another machine. If you want to upgrade normal Windows 8.1 to Windows Pro 8.1, you must purchase the upgrade pack. You may need to talk with Microsoft about it.

Kind regards.

That some people have reported, is that, by going in the settings of the BIOS on the main tab, by changing the Advanced setting at the base, their features returned.

If this is not the same for the BIOS settings, or if that doesn't work, you can try to use the synaptic website touchpad drivers: http://www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php
Note the comment on the page to set a Restore Point before trying one of these drivers.

Here is a link to the page of Web TenForums where you can download drivers and find out the results of the use of these drivers with HP machines: http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/18282-latest-synaptics-touchpad-driver-windows-10-a.html

  • QF402EA: u make my pc with my new windows pro 8.1

    Hello:

I AM sorry that I have not good English:

I bought the HP Windows 7 Prememom system for computer laptop of Jarir bookstore or EXTRA (I don't know exactly) for the year 2011 and then I bought windows pro 8.1 one month prior to today (from the Online Store g2a site) after the conversion of Windows 7 to 8.1 I noticed that I no longer get the support of HP for my laptop the definitions and maintenance programs as in the past under Windows 7 , and I feel very sad because I lost the effectiveness of Windows 7 (it's very compatible with my pc) I lost my mony in windows pro 8.1 because it lags behind in most of the games and its poor sound quality. Windows 7 was better in every thing. (I think I need your programs to my new windows.  could you help me to make my windows 8.1 compatible with my pc ))?

BY the way Microsoft had sent to me to improve my windows 8.1 pro for windows 10 do you think that its good for me or bad?

    Your laptop is 2008.

Lol we cannot make your compatible laptop, but we can try to find the drivers needed to run the Windows 8.1 operating system.  There is no guarantee that it will work.

Before you install another operating system:

Identify the chipset, the graphics card installed, the wifi adapter, and the network (LAN) adapter. You can use Device Manager to do this or one of the utilities PC information. The HP Support Assistant also has this information. View installed devices here in your thread.

Both GPBaseService2 and HPSoftwareUpdate try to add keys to the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE.

The add key fails and the SW is uninstalled.

  • 8.1 Windows Pro problem with HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

I am running Windows Pro 8.1.
I tried to install the software and drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 without success.

I tried to remove the software, reinstall, reboot the computer, do a 'clean' start, and nothing has worked so far.

I received the following error message:

Impossible to install a file that is necessary because the CAB file c:\users\User\appdata\local\temp\7zS2EAD\OJ860x64.cab has a signature digital invalid. This may indicate that the file is corrupted.

The error message is the same every time I try something new.

I am able to print, if I add the printer through the option "add a printer" in Windows Explorer, but I want to install the complete software so that I can scan also.

I downloaded more than 10 times the files several associates of troubleshooting: troubleshooting HP Installation failure MSI, HP Print and Scan doctor, but they have not helped at all.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Alfitoand welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see that you have found errors during the installation.  I want to help you with this.

I would start by trying to install on another account on the computer.

It also seems that there may be a corruption in the temp directory.  I suggest you remove all your temp HP folder.  I am including the steps to get the specific folder:

-On your keyboard, hold down your windows key and R key

-A 'RUN' box will become available

-Type in %Temp%, and then hit

-Open your folder that begins with 7z

    -Delete everything inside

    -Restart your computer

Once you have done this, I recommend reinstalling the software using the HP printer install wizard for Windows.

If this does not resolve the issue, I would recommend going to your home screen in mosaic, and typing in CMD and press to enter.  That will take you to your command prompt.  In you command prompt, type sfc/scannow, and then press ENTER.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Can I install Windows 7 Pro on Windows 8 Pro Hyper-V with OEM Windows & Pro disc.

Can I install Windows 7 Pro on Windows 8 Pro Hyper-V with OEM Windows & Pro disc. I have a laptop windows Pro 8 and a lot of programs that I use is not compatible with 8. So, I enabled Hyper-V so that I can install Windows 7 Pro on the virtual machine, but I bought a bad DVD because it is an OEM. How can I can go about this.

If it's a Windows 7 Professional OEM System Builder License, Yes, it will work fine.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • Can I place a Dell OptiPlex 755 with Intel Core 2 Duo in Windows 8 Pro to Windows Pro 8.1?

Can I place a Dell OptiPlex 755 with Intel Core 2 Duo in Windows 8 Pro to Windows Pro 8.1? I tried several times. I wonder if my computer does not meet the requirements for upgrade. How can I?

    Hello Andrew,.

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft community Forums.

According to the description, you want to upgrade to windows 8 for windows 8.1 on your system.

As you already use windows 8 on your system, you can try to upgrade to windows 8.1. However, there are some system requirements that are needed to run windows 8.1 correctly on your system. Please see the link below for the topic of system requirements.

    Reference:

    The system configuration required

Outside the system requirements, you will also need the windows 8.1-compatible drivers. There is a possibility that some devices may not work if the compatible drivers for windows 8.1 are not installed on your system. Driver are manufactured by the manufacturer of the system. It seems that Dell has not made drivers for windows 8.1.

Refer to the link checking the available drivers for your system.

    Hello Muhammad,

Thank you for your valuable response.

As a result of your message, we noticed that Dell OptiPlex GX520 is not compatible with Windows 8.1 and there is no available driver, this is maybe the reason why you can not upgrade to Windows Pro 8.1 with Media Center. We invite you to contact the manufacturer of the computer and check if it is possible to upgrade to Windows Pro 8.1 with Media Center on this computer. For more information on Dell OptiPlex GX520 you can refer to link below and kindly click Change OS see the compatible operating system on Dell OptiPlex GX520

A week ago my laptop with Windows Pro 8.1 was a significant error and he stopped, then I restarted the operating system with a previous image of the hard drive C. I reinstalled another printer and I tried very time to reinstall the HP Deskjet F4280 all-in-one with the latest driver and with the installation of the Printer Wizard uploaded by HP web site. Unfortunately every time installation fails during step "product configuration" after a lot of minutes to expire. The error was the last time.

I used your HP print and Scan doctor and I followed all instaructions and in the end, no solution has been discovered. Other applications normally run without problem and laptop works fine. I installed Windows Pro 8.1 almost a year ago and until a week ago, I have no problem with the HP printer above. I can solve this installation problem?

    Best regards

    Francesco Patrignani

    Multifunction,

Thank you for the update. The registry document I sent should apply to all computers in Windows 8. Please try to follow these steps.

If you do not provide the error log, which could be very useful. This will help me to refine the question. Also, I do not fear spend 20 minutes reading code until something is different.

I will help you with pleasure until the issue is resolved. If you find my help, you can keep tagging my posts with congratulations and accepted Solutions. It would be appreciated.

    Have a great day!

8.1 Windows has no drivers for it nor readers Vista will work in point 8.1 of Windows. You can install Windows 7 and install the Vista drivers and that the installation will work, but not for the installation of 8/8.1. Your laptop is too old for Windows 8/8.1 to be compatible with the drivers.

  • Want to 700-329: HP Envy 700-329 accepts no no Windows Pro 8.1!

    Hello

I recently bought a HP Envy 700-329 for our society. It came pre-installed with Windows 8.1 Basiles Premium.

I had to format and put Windows Pro 8.1 on it, so we could join our field.

However, what continues to be, is whenever I have install Professional 8.1, it seems that it is only 8.1 Premium Basiles once again!

The first time this happened, I talked to the person that I bought the computer and 8.1 Professional form and he replaced the 8.1 Professional Windows with another copy.

However, who has not solved the problem.

Is there something that HP is doing so, we cannot spend operating systems?

Please let me know. I really need this working!

    At any time.

I am pleased to have been of assistance.

It's bad enough that you can't go directly to the source and get a response.

You will have just to use the product key from the disc you bought and 'unlock' W8.1 Pro.

As I wrote yesterday, I have looked everywhere for work around the problem and came away empty-handed.

You're not the only person who posted this question on this forum.  No one I know could clean install W8 or W8.1 Pro on a PC that came with the W8 standard or W8.1.

The standard key fills the installation and errors with an invalid product key.

You used to be able to change the product key here when you've got an error like that in XP, Vista and W7, but with this new 3.0 activation, this option is no longer present.

I'm sorry that this driver has not worked.

The pilot I posted should be only for laptops with the series 7 Intel chipsets.

I guess W8.1 is not in charge of your model.

You can see if this W8 driver works, but I think that nothing is going to work for this model.
