Windows Update changes home page

I have VISTA. My Yahoo is my home page. 2 days ago, that the pg suddenly changed while I was away from the computer. The menu file/Edit/View/favourites at the top of the pg bar disappeared. My Yahoo logo, who was also at the top of the pg that I used to open additional windows have also disappeared. I tried to find help on Google, other sites. Only info I found indicated that Internet Explorer 7 now hide this menu bar. I don't know how to find out what version of IE I have.

I managed to get the back bar menu (no idea or how I did in fact). The logo of Yahoo, I used to open windows to the addl is still missing. The homepage has now 2 gold stars above the pg who will open a list of favorites to the left of the pg that I don't like because then there's no room to see the rt page. I find the Windows constant updates of the circumstances aggravating and annoying & sometimes Cancel when the window appears. I don't know if this problem was a result of an update or not, since I wasn't on the computer at the same time.

loricherokee, it seems that you have updated your browser to a newer version, it is a very important and not beneficial because it gives you a stable and more secure application for your internet browsing. You might have had a Yahoo toolbar program installed and that's what you're like the yahoo logo, referring to East - this exact? If so, you can go on yahoo and acquire again.

For the menu bar, simply press the ALT on your keyboard to see. You can then use the Favorites option which is similar to your old way (I assume you were using before IE6), or you can always together favorite button to close the column which is located on the left.

To set your home page you can click on tools, Options and in the general, either type the link to your home page or click use current to set the page your on your homepage.

Please visit the following page for more information on Internet Explorer 7, click Take a Tour on the right.

I manually ran Windows Update for about 22 updates including KB3002885 (KB3000061 is not included at this time).  It resulted in "Failure Configuring Windows Updates, changes of recovery".

    Measures taken (without the fix):

    -Reboot

-Restart in Boot Clean with Services MS no disabled state

    -Updated Troubleshotter

    -System Restore (3 weeks)

  • Updates to Windows 8 - "Configuration of the Windows updates, changes in restoration failure"

    Hello

Recently I finally got my laptop back from repairs after 6 weeks. Now, it is in a 'clean' State (aka factory settins).

I wanted to get to 8.1 Windows as soon as possible, but for this I need to be on the latest version of Windows 8.

So I then try to run "Windows Update" and let it install all updates recommended. He manages to download all updates,

and then he tries to configure these. About 98% or 99%, it gives the following message:

'Configuration of the Windows updates, changes back failure'

It then goes in an infinite loop constantly, he ran for hours and hours without having passed this screen.

So far, the only solution is to reset it to factory settings, which brings me to the point before that I try to update, so it is not move me.

I've tried so far, but no luck what follows:

    • http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_8-windows_update/failure-configuring-Windows-updates-reverting/16219e5c-564b-4310-9f68-c9d595bb4cbe?page=1
    • http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

None of them has worked so far.

    To be clear:

It is an OEM license. This doesn't mean no DISC, nor any ISO/Exe could work that they do not accept the product key.

Many other people have the same problem.

Please, I'm at a loss to date.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Leon

    Hi all

Seems that I myself have found a potential workaround.

Install only the KB2871389 allowed me to grab the download of Windows the Windows store 8.1.

Then, I could install Windows 8.1 without a hitch and it normally seems using Windows Updater runs from there on.

It is not yet a waterproof solution to water / final of 100%, but it seems to work for me.

I hope this will help someone else with the same problem!

    Yours Sincerely,

    Leon

  • How can I make a link in an email to open a new tab instead one opened a window behind my Home Page?

When I click on a link in an email, it opens in a window behind my Home Page. I find it annoying to have to click view, and then click the window for the desired link. In Firefox preferences that I ticked "open new windows in a new tab instead", but the problem persists.

    Hello

Sorry to hear what happens if you run firefox in safe mode?

"If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

  • How can I make the bookmark page appears as a complete window and not a side window of my Home Page?

When I open a book marked page, it appears as a window in the sidebar of the home page and I can't do a full page to display correctly. When I first created bookmarks, it wasn't the case, but something has changed? Thank you...

In the Bookmark Manager (Bookmarks > show all bookmarks) you can click on the button more in the lower details pane on the right.
Make sure "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.

Note that the opening in the sidebar is the default value for the bookmarks created via a link or a button on a Web site.
You can view the properties of a bookmark using the context menu in the side bar (Ctrl + B; Command + B on Mac).

  • New FF26 facility will not change home page help

I bought a new computer HP Windows 7 Pro, 3 GHz, 4 GB of DDR3 Ram, 500 GB WD HD and I have installed FF26. It does not change the default homepage to mine, it always shows two tabs loaded with the Mozilla FF Start Page. I edited the subject: config and it has no effect on the page loaded at launch. I uninstalled and reinstalled FF26 and which had no effect. I need help to get this problem solved, please.

Some security and utility software has a "browser protection", protection of the home page"or the functionality of"surf protection"that protects you against changes made to the settings of your browser. And you cannot change them yourself. Could check you this option in avast!, Advanced SystemCare (if you have one) and any other software that could be keeping an eye on your system?

  • Cannot change home page - home page is locked to Google

My Firefox home page is locked to Google, and I can't change it. The area where I should be able to change in the 'Options' has 'Mozilla Firefox Start Page' gray - I can't delete or enter information. I ran spyware scans and tried different remedies, but nothing helped.

I tried all sorts of remedies, but I remain locked.

  • long time to load and cannot change home page

I live in France and my ISP is Orange. I have a LIVEBOX 2 and have used Orange for the last year and a half.

Until a few days ago, Forefox only took about 10 seconds to load on my home page which was www.google.co.uk

A few days ago, Firefox took about a minute to load and the homepage has changed the home/French Orange portal page.
If I try to restore the home page Google, always default to the Orange portal at each start from the top.

I tried to download the browser add-on Protect 1.1.3 but this does not affect either. I have also restarted Firefox with disabled modules, and again, this has no effect.

  • Parameter "browser.startup.homepage" during install lock keep any user has changed home pages?

When I put the page using the pref, using the common method of 'mozilla.cfg', any time that a user tries to set the home page, it does not record. Instead, it is up to the page defined by the pref. I can see in the file of pref users it is correctly written, however once that Firefox is completely rebooted, it resets that both Firefox options and the user prefs file. Behavior is expected or is it a problem that someone else has encountered?

Thanks for your help, but that still does not solve the problem. What I ended up doing is to edit the browserconfig.properties file located in the folder omni.ja\chrome\en-US\locale\branding\ and then copying that down to the local path. All my other changes made in the Mozilla.cfg file work without problem.
