Windows Update icon - closing

Hello

I am writing because I had a problem since last Thursday, November 12.

I am currently working with a x 64 version of Windows 7.

As usual, asked me to install updates on this day. I did so and rebooted my laptop, like I always do and everything was fine.

However, when the computer is restarted, I clicked on the "Start Menu" icon to search for a document and a yellow sign with a black exclamation point appeared near the "Shut Down" menu. I read the post and he said "install updates and shut down.

I did it and when stopping in windows, it does not have updated, as it normally does in such cases. In other words, Windows said I had to install, but do not install anything, do my laptop stopped, as he usually does when he's not install updates.

Now, I get the same icon each time that I start to use my laptop.

I've seen a few posts and forums online, tell a lot: to re - install the updates, to change something in the Group Policy Editor to change something in the 'regedit '... But I can't find an appropriate solution.

First of all, I can not re - install the following updates and I get this message when you check the ' history of the update:

Error code: 80246007

Update: (KB3035583)

Then, the 'Group Policy' thing does not exist in my version of Windows 7, which is weird.

And finally, I'm afraid of missing something when it comes to the "regedit".

Can someone help me please? Is this some kind of virus or something? What is the situation of Windows upgrade 10 playing with my phone, causing this problem (I don't have not updated in Windows 10 yet).

Oh... I ran MalwareBytes and AVG scan and no viruses/malware has been detected.

Is - that some of those annoying Windows bugs?

Thanks in advance.

  • Window Update icon is missing in Windows 7

The windows update icon does not appear in my system tray even though it has listed updates that have not yet been installed.  The icon was there for August update patches. • Windows Update gets closed by Windows Data Execution Prevention

Running Windows XP Pro with SP3.  Windows Update is set to warn me of updates.

For the last two days, whenever I turn on, a popup appears saying

-Microsoft Windows data execution prevention.  To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program.  Name: Windows Update.  Publisher: Microsoft Corporation.

It gives me a "close this window" button, but if I click on it it just reappears.  The offending executable seems to be wuauctl.exe.

I checked and the only wuauctl.exe on my system is where it should be, in \Windows\System32\, although there are also a large number of \Windows\pchealth\ErrorRep\UserDumps entries all from when I first encountered the problem.

What has gone wrong and what I would do to this topic?

    ger1atric,
I suggest that you make sure you have Latest Windows Update Agent.  If you do and are still getting the error, then try the steps listed below.

If your computer is set to apply DEP to all programs and services, the DEP error message will have a change settings button. If an update of the program is not available, follow these steps to add an exception for the program of the DEP error message:

    1. When you receive the error message, click change settings.
    2. Click to select the check box next to the program, and then click apply.
    3. When you are prompted to restart your computer, double click on OK and restart your system.

You can also add an exception for the program by using System Properties in Control Panel. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
    2. Click the Advanced tab, click performance, and then click settings.
    3. In the Performance Options, click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Add.
    4. In the Open dialog box, locate and then click the program.
    5. Click Open, click apply, and then click OK. When you are prompted to restart your computer, click OK.

  • Windows Update notification icon does not

    Hello

On my laptop when there are available windows updates and then in the box notification blue windows update icon appears, download updates and tell me if I have to restart my computer. My father has a new office, also windows 7, and instead of this icon, the indicator for the Action Center pops up and says there are windows updates. How to do his job the same as mine? All settings inside the update of windows are the same.

    Thank you

    guru84,
Make sure you check the settings in the center of the action and the Notification area settings.  Display icons in the Notification area of change  Also will show a number of icons in the notification area.  It is possible that when updates are available, the Windows Update icon is active, but just not visible.  When you receive an alert Action Center, click the triangle to the left of the notification area button and see if the Windows Update icon is there.  If this is the case, click on, and then drag it to the visible area.

  • How can I check the status of windows update in windows xp after that the icon disappears automatically?

I am running Windows XP with automatic updates notify only the value. When the notification appears, I start the download, then disappears sometimes the Windows Update icon. Sometimes, the icon remains or reappears and shows a percentage of download; Sometimes it disappears and reappears only hours or days. I have no idea what the status of the download is until (if) the icon reappears. How can I fix?

    Unfortuately 'it's design

You can however, once informed of the updates, go to the website and analyze manually and download updates.

  • Windows Update under XP Professional 64 bit icon has changed and does not work in the Start Menu

I didn't want to be informed of updates to two-day but inadvertently somehow I am struck back for all notifications.

Windows Update icon turned blue light with an i or an exclamation mark inside. When I click it, nothing happens. I can access the automatic updates in Control Panel to change the settings, but I still don't get the notifications.

How to make it all back please?

PS, I can always access updates through http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us , but I don't want to do that.

    Thank you in advance.

Thanks Robear & Diana. I'll keep your suggestions for the future Win XP 64-bit installations. I just gritted my teeth bought & installed Windows 7 64-bit. Problem solved.

  • Windows Update KB2538242; Update icon continues to appear in the taskbar

    Good evening

The Windows Update icon continues to stay in my bar tasks, since the update referenced in the subject line was supposed to be available.  I went to the Windows Update site, but the info for this particular update indicates the "update of size" is 0 bytes in size, and download time is "0 minutes

A couple of days, a MS tech support remotely connected to my pc and supposedly fixed this problem, but returns the Update icon in the taskbar!  Someone idea of EVERYTHING happening here and WHEN this problem will be corrected?  By checking my "Add/Remove Programs" section in Control Panel (with the show updates check box), I don't see the update above listed anywhere.

Thanks much for any info on this!

  • Windows updates fail to download and install the new

    Good afternoon

I recently bought this satellite laptop computer pro on the package was both windows vista Home premium. I also decided to change fnsi at the same time. The provider also gives Norton Firewall Virus Intrusion etc etc.

Microsoft does not validate my system but after that 2 hours on the phone with them and a system restore, they have agreed that I had bought some valid stuff and that fixed it.
Now it seems windows updates icon appears ask me do I want to download and install.

I do but every time, it fails, there are about 11 things that fail, no installation. I rang Microsoft today that they made one or tow things say but PC Toshiba's fault.

Please, anyone had this happen to them and got the solution (s)?
Please take into consideration that my knowledge of pc can be written on the back of a postage stamp. Do like me simple.

    Thank you

Did you try to disable the firewall or uninstall Norton? Norton may block the Internet connection.

If the provider uses a Proxy Server, you need to enter the proxy in Internet Explorer connection settings.
