Windows Update/network adapter problems?

I have a Dell Inspiron Duo which is running Windows 8 Pro ('not supported' by Dell for this model). Very well, everything seems to work until about a week before, when I installed an update (I think KB2792100 or KB2797052), and now my laptop cannot find or connect to any wired or wireless networks. The icon on the taskbar displays bars signal grayed out with an 'X' red on them, and when you pass the mouse over it, it says, "not connected - no connection is available. I did a system restore, that uninstalled software more recently installed, as I expect to, but network problems remained. Windows Network Diagnostics has been as useful as ever (he did nothing), and tries to install a driver Windows 7 led to the BSOD and an other-system restore. Can anyone help? I miss the Internet :'(

Hi Magikarpet,

It can be upsetting when the network connection fails to run after an update. You can try to install a driver Windows 7 in Compatibility Mode and check if the network is enabled. You can download the Windows 7 drivers from the following link by punching in the serial number:
http://Dell.to/QjjZDA

Please follow the steps below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

1. right click on the program icon and choose Properties.
2 when appears in the Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab, and then click Run Compatibility convenience store.
3. in Compatibility Mode section, select run this program in Compatibility Mode for box and select the Windows version of the program you want in the drop-down list.
4. click on OK and then run the file again.

Let me know the status.

  • NETWORK ADAPTER PROBLEMS, POSSIBLY CAUSED BY UPDATE VISTA - is SPIRITX there?

    My problem seems to be identical to a previous poster:

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vistahardware/thread/f0871a34-680C-4607-9a88-8cefffe53a95

    My laptop worked fine. Reboot to sleep this AM and cannot connect to the internet (i.e. network hardware doesn't work properly). It may be a windows update (I'm on Vista 32 bit).

    I too have the same error messages (to ensure that IP connections are checked (they are) or it is a hardware/driver). There is no fault of network - I have two other computers accessing the internet via my WiFi OK.

    I tried the solution posted by SPIRITX but I don't know what network devices that you want to uninstall. I don't have listed NETWORK or WIFI card. I have the following:

    Intel (r) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
    Intel (r) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection - WinpkFilter Miniport
    Marvell Yukon 88E8039 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
    Marvell Yukon 88E8039 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller - Miniport WinpkFilter
    Miniport Wan (IP) - Miniport of WinpkFilter
    Wide area network (IPv6) - WinpkFilter Miniport WAN Miniport
    Miniport Wan (Network Monitor) - Miniport of WinpkFilter

    NOTE: These adapters with the '-Miniport WinpkFilter' entry are the problem those apparently showing an exclamation mark next to them.

    I tried restoring but it does not work.

    SPIRITX posted the following solution to the original problem, but uninstall that my list of network cards?

    You can try these:

    Panel of configuration-Device Manager - network - right CLICK on the TWO network (NIC) cards and WiFi in turn
    to UNINSTALL - after that the two have gone - RESTART rebuild your piles of pilot.

    Then - close all regular programs

    Start command - in the search box type-

    at the top of the list to find COMMAND - CLICK RIGHT to it - RUN AS ADMIN

    Type the following commands (or copy and paste one at a time), each followed by pressing on enter.

    ipconfig/flushdns

    nbtstat-r

    nbtstat - RR

    netsh int Reinitialis

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh winsock reset

    RESET

    That resets your TCP/IP stack

    Maybe SPIRTX is out there in the ether somewhere and can offer advice.

    No further response received, but does not solve the problem, so to help others...

    I went to:

    Network and sharing Center

    Network connections

    r / clicked on WiFi network

    Properties

    unchecked and uninstalled the WinpkFilter Miniport drivers in this list.

    Restarted

    It seemed to do. The uninstals worked from here rather than by the Device Manager - don't ask me why. I am also doing this from memory so I hope I have listed all the steps - maybe the pro was able to confirm.

    tested with a ping from google from the command line

    then connected to my network as usual that connected OK.

    He did dirty upo my Norton 360 I had to reinstall it again, but it worked OK.

    Initially, I have a problem that I caused by a virus Norton had found and quarantined on my PC which coincided with the problem, but I do not know now.

    I hope this helps someone else.

    I can't add anything else I fear then good luck.

  • Satellite P15-8409, Atheros wireless network adapter problem

    Hello. I'm having a frustrating problem with an old laptop Satellite P15. I restored the phone to default settings using the recovery disk that the system was working very badly. After that, the wireless network adapter has stopped working. In the Device Manager "Atheros AR5001X + Wireless Network Adapter" is marked with a yellow exclamation point. In the menu properties, under general, the State of the device the following is listed:

    The device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (code 12)

    The operating system is Windows XP Home Edition. The same problem has been present in SP1, SP2 and SP3. I also updated the BIOS to V2, but it also did not help.

    At work, we use a wireless internet connection. At home, I have a DSL connection. Curiously, when I plugged the network cable to the House, the yellow exclamation mark disappeared and a wireless connection icon appeared in the network connections window. I assumed that the problem has been resolved by updating to Windows; However when I brought the computer in the office, the wireless adapter was once more in the State I described.

    I searched the internet for the same problem, but was unable to find anything. I would be very happy to help.

    all the best,

    James

    BIOS version is installed on your machine? And you have you recently changed some hardware etc...?

    I don't know what it could be, but in the worst cases, the wlan card has certain shortcomings. You can check this by getting somewhere such an atheros wlan card or intel and install it instead of the one installed.

    Maybe the exchange of cards should solve this problem?

    Welcome them

  • Windows 7 network controller problem

    Hi guys:

    I have Windows 7 HP Home Premium. I have re-installed just now. Now I've lost

    my ability to network controller. I'm now working on a stick.

    You name it, I tried it (for solutions) up to and including the programs 'stand alone '.

    I read today where the difficulty is from stubborn Microsoft

    When it comes to things like the update of drivers and updates period, when it comes

    for any other OS than 10, so I ask... is there a net controller that I can d/l who

    will it work on W7? Thank you, Carl

    Hello Carl,

    According to your description, I understand that you have faced problems installing your network controller after you have reinstalled Windows 7 Home premium.

    Microsoft provides surely as readers for the most commonly used device drivers which get installed automatically based on the requirements for your computer. Also, make sure that you check the optional updates too, that your network driver could have been which are listed there.

    If you get no device drivers in your windows updates. I would contact the manufacturer of your computer and get the latest drivers for your Windows 7 computer. Your computer manufacturer is one who is responsible for and must provide the drivers for your computer as they understand your computer better in terms of hardware.

    Hope this information helps. If you need more assistance or information on this question, reply to this post. I'll be happy to help you.

  • Wireless network adapter problems

    I get problems with my wireless network card - when I lose connection troubleshoot them menu popup says there is a problem with no valid IP addresses and the adapter needs to be reset. This can happen several times a day - even if the adapter is then reset. Why is it so often when my partner on his mobile phone next to me and on the same network hub has no problem?

    Hi David,

    It would be possible that the installed on your computer wireless network adapter driver is outdated.

    You can try to update the wireless network card drivers by visiting the manufacturer's Web site and check if that helps.

    How can I troubleshoot network card?

    Please post the results of the proposed measures.

  • Error 8024402F - Windows Update encountered a problem using Windows 8

    Hello

    I tried to check the updates on my laptop and pops up an error found marked as 8024402F. Also with this error I can't do the update to windows 8.1. If anyone can help I will appreciate all your help. Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Hello

    Check if the date and time is correctly set on the PC.

    Also, suggest you temporarily disable the security software and check if you are able to install the updates.
    Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • Windows Update Causes startup problem

    I have an interesting problem with Windows Update (or apparently is from Windows Update). I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, if that info is needed. There are two updates I have not install, as I am not sure that is the cause. The updates in question are Internet Explorer 8 and Windows Defender definitions 1.63.604.0. Here's what's happening.

    When you restart after Windows updates, the computer starts with a black screen with a mouse pointer. That's all. Happened every time I tried to start after the pdates. I can reboot into SafeMode very well, is apparently a problem driver or update.

    I also installed DivX on the computer, but it seemed to work as I could watch .avi via WMP thereafter, so I excluded. I thought that if there was a problem with it, it would not have worked in the first place, but I thought it was interesting.

    In any case, the only solution I found doing a system restore and do not install updates day or DivX, since technically I don't know which is the cause. I had to restore the system 3 times already and I didn't continue to do because this computer was very expensive and I don't want to ruin the hardware or something.

    Someone knows something about an error with updates, or perhaps with DivX that may have caused this. The computer works fine without the updates or DivX, I just want to know what could be the real problem so if it is only one of the 3, I can install the other two at least.

    Change your update settings, install the updates one at a time, hide the problem:

    Click Start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

    > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it
    > Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".
    When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the update causing you problems.
    > or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it
    See you soon.
  • upgrade to esxi 5.0 on x3650m3s with NETWORK adapter problems
    I have a 3 host cluster that I'm trying to level. Update Manager has been delay on clean up the hosts so I plugged an ISO bootable USB to the machine. He went through his sequence start-up and ISO. It passes through and starts installing ESXi allows at the end where it installs "nfsclient" and then begins on an error: there was a problem with the device network specified on the command line. Error: No NIC MAC address found: XX. The address that it is is the FCoE QLogic card installed. It's the card that was running 4.1 traffic without problem.
    The card itself is fine and even visible in the form of map in UEFI system information.
    Has anyone seen this?
    Qlogic 10 Gb CNA adapter for x3650M3 (1800-42) requires driver qlge - 1.0.0.47 for ESXi 5.0.  It is in the compatibility guide.
    Search for IBM 42 1800 in VMware of HCL part number: http://www.vmware.com/go/hcl
    If you're ready to do a new install of ESXi 5.0 instead of upgrading, you can also use the ISO ESXi 5.0 cumulative hotfix driver 2 to get this driver installed during installation.
    ESXi 5.0 driver Rollup 2: http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/rollupiso_50_2/dHRAYndlZEBiZHAlJQ==
    The release notes for that ISO contain a list of drivers included with it, which is qlge1.0.0.47.
