Windows Update, stuck in the preparation of the installation

My installation of Windows 8/64 does not seem to continue to treat the Windows updates.

For days now it constantly displays the "Preparing to install" status without actually doing something...

Also, I don't seem to be able to interrupt this process. When I click on the [cancel installation] button, I get an error message telling me I need administrator privileges to cancel the installation. But Windows 8 provides an option to run applications as Windows Update of the Panel with privileges!

Any help is appreciated.

I lived the same question: Windows Update has been blocked in "Preparing to install..." "When I tried to stop the installation it says I need administrator permissions.  The account I was using was a domain administrator account, and he appeared in the Administrators group on the local computer.  I'm tired of stopping and starting from cold, but when I went to Windows Update, it always says "preparing to install...". »

I went into control panel of-> administration tools-> Services and scrolled down to find the "Windows Update" service and stop it.  So I started again and when I went to Windows Update, it showed available current updates - not "preparing to install..." ».  I deselected all updates and selected only the first two.  They have installed successfully (reboot required).
After the reboot, I chose two others.  They have installed successfully (no reboot required).  Then, I chose 9 more.  They have also installed successfully (reboot required). The reboot takes a long time.  I was watching 'Configuring Windows updates' for about five minutes.
After the reboot, I selected the current updates remaining, including an update of the driver in option.  They have successfully installed in the shaft (restart required).

Hi my old laptop Pavillion G6 of 12 months (which was the worst computer I've ever owned!) is stuck on an update. The screen shows the message "Keep your PC up to... this installation to update 1 of 2" for 12 hours (overnight).

A little over 2 weeks ago he had a problem with the WiFi connection - which also seems to be associated with the Windows updates - I got this one and it has been fine since then. Started an automatic update last night and now he's stuck. Any ideas?

    Hi Jamame,

Thanks for your post, I will do my best to help you!

I see that your computer did an update for more than 12 hours and has not completed or seems to have improved.

First of all you could cancel the update, restart the computer.  Then you would go The HP Support Assistant to search for updates or problems. Here is a document to help performance. Improve the performance of the system without adding memory (Windows 7). I would also like to launch the File Checker.  Using the File Checker system to restore the system files. Now repeat your update with her power.

If you want more help, please can you give us the exact model of the G6 you and the operating system you are using. How can I find my model number or product number?

    Hi Charles1973a,

    1. what update has recently been installed on the computer?

    2. you receive an error message?

    3. do you have a security software on the computer?

First, restart the computer and try to install the update one by one.

See the Microsoft article below as well as try the steps mentioned so that you cannot start Windows after you restart the computer, check if it helps.

  • Windows 2000 stuck in the installer

Help! My husband gave me his Dell 8100 which I already managed to ruin. The computer initially came without records to my husband, as soon as he got the computer, asked them and Dell sent us 4 discs: W2K to CD reinstall operating system + SP1, drivers and utilities and Applications 2 discs.

Now I wanted to install Works Suite 2000, which came with the system, but he was keen to say a necessary file was missing and put in the disk. After several attempts, I, decided with gusto, the file must be located on the Dell reinstallation CD operating system. So... Setup seemed to work very well then suddenly said: NT5INF-chat on windows 2000 Professional CD-ROM is needed and asked me to put in the disc with this title. No disk, press ok led to asking him to D:\I386.  Now, the computer is blocked in the configuration whenever I start it.

Is there anything I can do to get it working again. I tried F8 and go back to work earlier version - did not work.

  • Ask Windows Update to install the Vista SP2, which was installed years ago and won't let me install Live Essentials for the same reason.

Windows Update is now always ask to install the Vista SP2, which was installed years ago. When you try to install through Windows Update, it concludes the installation like ok, then once again it shows in Windows Update. When I try via stand-alone, it is said that SP1 is not installed. Of course, it is. In any case tried to reinstall and he wrote is already installed. I'm sure I installed both SPS long ago, but none of them show in the updates installed. It's probably something in the registry. Properties system shows SP1. Ah, I use Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

  • New computer with Windows 7, stuck on the specific update

    Hello world!
I have recently (last Saturday) purchased a new HP laptop with Windows 7 installed. The computer is now going through the standard (I guess they are standard) updates for Windows and successfully completed several rounds of them. Last night after having turned it off the computer began another series of updates, with 14 in the total bundle. She started 1 of 14 around 20:00 and started 4 of 14 at 22:30. From 08:30 the next morning, he was still on 4 of 14.
Is this an update that takes 12 hours to install, or is there another problem causing my computer to not to go beyond the update? I found no way to bypass the update or cancel it.

    Thank you!

Are you able to boot to the desktop now?

  • Windows Update cannot check the updates because of the error code 80070002.

Hi, I have a 64-bit Windows Vista, Microsoft Service Pack 1.

My Windows Update stops errors whenever I have trying to update. This has happened for a while now, maybe 4-5 months? However, since there is no reason that I needed to update, I just let go.

Then I realized that because of this error, my iTunes won't work; during installation, there is an error with the same numbers: 80070002. I really need to use iTunes, and it won't work.

I checked the system for errors and renamed, but it has not fixed no problem.

Please, how can I solve this problem?

    Hi xgbearfsho,

If you receive the error Windows Update 80070002 of updates, you must remove the temporary files to update that Windows uses to identify updates for your computer. To remove temporary files, stop the Windows Update service, delete the temporary update files, restart the Windows Update service and then try to check for Windows updates again.

    Windows Update Error 80070002

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/Windows-Update-Error-80070002

If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you install service pack 2 for Windows vista on the computer and check if this solves the problem of update.

I lose the internet connection if I install the Windows updates published in the last 24 hours.  I have had access to the internet after restoring to a restore point.   I was able to recreate this problem be reinstall them again.

    Update the example is KB2121546

    Manually install a - alone.
    Reset.

    Still have Internet?

Manually install the next one, one.
    Reset.

    Still have Internet?

Repeat this until you lose Internet or have installed all updates - what comes first.  If you lose Internet - uninstall that one and install all others (using the same one at a time - at the most method you will have 8-9 for this cycle) then come here and let everyone know what update was kill your Internet connection.

Why?  An update of the example is of no help.  There are 9 updates you could possibly have * if * you were aware through yesterday.  Knowing the SPECIFIC update that is causing your problem would be better for you and those who help you.
