Windows Vista error 504-Gateway time-out

I am running HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop with vista 32 bit.  When I try to use one of the search engines for this, nothing, after a long while I get a blank page and at the top it says 504 Gateway time-out. I tried the restore and restore the plant. I use MS security Essentials, Spyware Blaster, Spybot search and destroy, and after the restoration, I ran Malisious MS software removal tool. Thanks for your time on this.

Hello

1 are you facing this problem with all search engines or simply with a search engine?

2 have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

3. which search engine do you use?

The 504 Browser gateway timeout error means that a server did not receive a timely response from another server to which access while trying to load the web page or fill another request by the browser. This means that the other server is down or does not properly.

504 Gateway Timeout error is usually a network error between servers on the Internet or a problem with a real server, which means that the problem is not with your PC or Internet connection.

Even if the issue is not yours to troubleshoot or resolve, there are a few things you can do:

a. new attempt of the web page by clicking on the refresh/reload button or try once again to address bar URL. Even if the 504 Gateway Timeout error is an error outside of your control, the error may be temporary.

b. retry the page is often successful.

c. return later. As the 504 Gateway Timeout error message is a problem with the website network or it communicates with a server, everyone visiting this site probably has the same problem as you.

d chances are an issue that has already been brought to the attention of the administrator on the website and someone is trying to solve.

e. If you can't wait any longer that the problem must be resolved, or if you want to help, you can try to contact the webmaster or another Web site contact yourself and inform 504 Gateway Timeout error you receive.

Hope the information is useful.

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself. (No, Symantec Support never say this.) See if the following solves your problems:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons) via Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!

    5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    6. do a clean install of the 2010 version of your Norton application, using your product ID & reboot: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN

TIP: Do not activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

    7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate until you get a prompt "no update more".

    8 test cycle.

NB: Your Norton application can disable Windows Defender by default.

    Hello

1 did you do changes on the computer before the show?
2 are you able to install other updates successfully?
3 mention is the correct KB number.
    Follow these methods.

Method 1: put the computer in a clean boot state to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow step 7 link to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Method 2: temporarily disable the security software.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable the antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network at the time the anti-virus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: you can also manually install updates (KB number) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

Method 4: follow the steps in the article.

I tried to use the vista disc to repair but it never works, it is said that he cannot fix.  I'm unable to start the computer because of all this help is appreciated!

    Hi Chiomaa,

The file PSHED. DLL is part of the component that allows hardware errors to be generated.

Since you are unable to boot to Windows, try to run a checkdisk boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista.

Note: When you run the disk check, there are chances of losing data if you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    a. Insert the installation disc and restart your computer.

Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings.

For more information, see the article:

    BIOS: Frequently asked questions

    b. choose your language settings, and then click Next.

    c. in the System Recovery Options menu, click command prompt

    d. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER

    Chkdsk /f /r X: (drive letter)

    e. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.

    f. restart the computer.

For more information, you can consult the following article:

What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?

If the problem persists, then you should make a backup of important data and try to reinstall Windows Vista.

    Hello

What updates do you have installed?

Check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

    Reference:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box
    2. press ENTER.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Also, look for error messages in the event viewer. If you find error messages after return the exact error message so that we can help you better.

Measures to check the application event log:

    a. click Start.
    (b) in the search box type eventvwr.msc , and then on enter.
    c. now, click Application in the event viewer (local).
    d. now, looking for event log on the right side of the event viewer window.

    SOLUTION:

The solution to the problem, I met is the following:

Step 1: RESTART your computer, press F8

Step 2: select the first OPTION (depending on the manufacturer of your computer, it may be first or second, and so on...)

The option is: fix my (the) computer

Step 4: It will load the same in SafeMode (just an example), select your OWN USER NAME (though more are available), log in as an ADMINISTRATOR (if you are the one)

Step 5: It will change into a small window asking you connect by using the command prompt: check this option (this may vary according to manufacturing, but it should be there)

Step 6: Now when you log in you should see X:\Windows\System32 >

Step 7: Change of disk C, D or E (essentially select your disk where the OS is installed)

NOTE: If NO leave are present select your ONE and ONLY by CAR.

If left are, for example: D and E (D contains BONES, E contains - your stuff)

Select drive with OS, i.e. D drive

Step 8: After your decision to step 7, it would look like

    X:\Windows\System32\C:

Step 9: The result would now be C:\ >

SO BASICALLY WE ARE ACCESSING THE HDD FROM OUTSIDE

    Step 10: Type Chkdsk/r/f

Step 11: wait for the results

The first 3 steps will be complete as soon as POSSIBLE, the 4th and 5th stage will TAKE ABOUT 120 minutes (variable, based on the hard drive, the computer specifications and especially your processor)

The result should tell you more about the DEFECTIVE AREAS, indexing ERRORS and similar stuff, and also they could be repaired.

    When finished: TUPE OUTPUT

    At the end of OUTPUT

    and REBOOT

step 12: now even ONCE, go to the BACK UP CENTER, launch a NEW BACK UP, it should work :)

I hope you can tell from this hopeless thread how I am, so if you can help me in any way, I would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help in advance.

SFC has NOT repaired all the corruption (and there was quite a bit - not as bad a I saw but a lot nonetheless).  It explains a lot about why you have problems as long as this corruption is everywhere in the room.  The only way to correct that corruption is an installation of repair/upgrade of the system with (if you can get your hands on a real Installation of Vista drive and this is the preferred option) or do a clean install - which is where we started (but at least you know now it is necessary and why).

I don't know what problems you have had, and which have been fixed since--but that undertake you to pretty much a clean slate and that there should be no problem to be addressed (other than the effort to restore the systems back as it was before the relocations (even the repair/upgrade system requires some effort)).  I can't imagine re-, you will encounter problems (but I do not know what they were or that ccaused them, or what you need to do to fix them is very difficult to answer this question accurately).  I can just say that all the Vista system files will be replaced by fresh copies and which solves generally most issues with the exception of a few problems of compativility with some older software, or maybe you need to update some driverss of the device (and perhaps a few other issues that are related but not caused by the Vista software).

Thanks for the comments: is apprecciated.

    I hope this helps.
