(1) I installed the hardware updates for my sound card (via Windows update) and now I can't hear the music through my speakers or headphones. In addition, related to my sound card software do not work either!

Windows Vista stuck with "update configuration".
Whenever I stop Windows Vista, System stucks with "Configuring updates" appearing on the screen.

The original post has no importance now.
What you do not understand, is that you now do a logoff and reboot for a fresh start of windows.
The problem should be gone because the download folder has been emptied.
and if the problem is still there, start the system in safe mode and then rinse the folder download again.

Who uses Windows Live Mail 2012 without problem for years, and then I did the update last week. Although it still shows my mail files, he will not show me the subfolders of these folders. IF you do not use any Microsoft e-mail programs installed (hot mail, outlook.com, etc), Windows Live Mail 2011. It is practically the same with a few differences that probably will be okay for you. Good WLM2011 can actually make groups.
WLM is part of any offer from Microsoft called Windows Live Essentials. Probably you don't need many other parts and you can select the ones you want as part of the installation process.

Sorry, but I don't see any sense why you are doing this. Your laptop comes with Vista. Is there a particular reason to achieve?

I'm not sure how, but I think it had something to do with a question I had with ehshell.exe (click here for more on this topic). KB973768 has something to do with Media Center, and given that I had problems with it, it did not cross the installation of this update. Once the ehshell.exe issue has been resolved, I was able to install this update.

Windows cannot check the updates for Vista
Entertainment HP Pavilion Notebook - Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition. Last month, Windows didn't install updates. Went online - route taken to fix this - restore the system to an earlier date and no change. Roxio Videowave no longer works correctly as well as other software problems. Read reviews from customers online, but want to know if I need to restore my computer laptop settings before installing Windows 7? If Vista is having a problem with updates there is a very small chance that the upgrade to Windows 7 will not solve the problem. A shop to factory settings which will certainly solve. However if you plan to keep all data and applications a restore to factory settings or Windsows 7 "Custom / Clean ' install means that you must first backup all your data to external media files, then after cleaning install you will need to reinstall all your applications.

FYI for Windows updates:
Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.
You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.
But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.
You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

When I scan for Windows Vista Service Pack update (published 4/2009) comes in,
I redid my computer a few months ago restore to factory settings and restore my files from a backup disk. Everything seemed to work properly. A few weeks ago a full scan found a worm & some virus which I removed. Now, I have a problem with the updates. When I scan for Windows Vista Service Pack update (published 4/2009) arrives. When I click to install it, it is saying it is correctly installed (in 30 seconds) and yet he continues to come when I'm scanning for updates. Should I restore settings again? After looking for info on the forums of windows, I did the System File Checker to check corrupt files. Several corrupted files appear in the details of the SFC. But their fixation is "over my head". I glued the SFC details below. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
