Windows Vista updates no more, I get an error 80070424

My installation is 64 Vista Home Premium on a Gateway MC7824H laptop. This facility is not yet a year old and Vista no longer accepts no update no matter what I tried to resolve these issues.

I installed the following Microsoft tools: Windows6. 0 KB 940520 - x 64-ENU, Windows6. 0 KB947821-v4 - x 64 and also tried this:

"At the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each command, and then click OK whenever you receive a verification message:

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wucltux.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wups.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuwebv.dll

5. start the Service the service of automatic updates, Background Intelligent Transfer and the event log service. To do this, follow these steps:

a. at the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:

net start bits
net start wuauserv.

I tried many things, as shown above to solve this problem without success, I'm frustrated and ideas with Vista.

Finally, which adds to my frustration, it's that I can't install any new program or update, which is a software to manage an HP printer wireless, update Itune, Open Office etc.

A solution that works and good help will be highly appreciated

I'm afraid you'll have to use Gateway Recovery Management to reinstall Vista and fix this, Levi. See...

  • When you install Windows Vista on a laptop I get this error code 0 x 80070057

I tried to fix & mobile friends for a while now & I have noticed that, during the installation of Windows Vista, it fails with a few different answers. The error code that showed, the majority being 0 x 80070057.

The laptop is a MSI VR602 with a broken DVD player (I was the installation via USB) & other potential problems.

A past remarkable repair I knew everything was the screen being smashed.

However, when I saw if I could install it on my custom built computer installation flows well (I used the laptop HARD drive)

I then tried using the disk HARD in the portable windows would begin not with success.

I think that the cause could be the big difference in the environment.

I formatted the HARD drive many times & installed via USB laptops with the same result.

I also noticed another post that it is possible that the SATA connections could be blamed.

Also at the start I noticed he said something like 'S.M.A.R.T. capable but failed the control unit'. When you check this on my computer, when starting my CHIP on my HARD drive just off computer & laptops.

The HARD drive is a Western Digital WD2500BEVT.

Windows Vista Home Basic final first version so that I could use the original serial code.

I can't try it with an another HARD drive that I have not access to all.

It would work if the installer has used the same exact files two mega & but there is no chance of this change.

If someone happens to have a copy of the MSI files used on this computer is would be muched aprciated. (Sorry for the bad spelling)

    It is a 32-bit system.

Another point is that when I tried to install Windows XP it installed for most, but crashed & had the problem with hal.dll file missing.

Please post a reply if you know one. If you need information additional just ask.

Don't worry, I managed to solve the problem. It's a corrupt installer. I have the laptop runs like new.

  • Windows Vista update causes applications non - IE to be denied access to the internet

I have a laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 unfortunately comes with a Windows Vista Home Premium OS that has caused me a lot of problems with conflicts between her and others, package applications, and now I am forced to use my network at home for route information and documents that must move through the internet by sharing them with another computer Windows XP which is also configured exactly as my Lenovo IdeaPad Y510. I look forward to wean myself off of all MS products, possibly other that MS Office, I use a lot and plays always well for me to wire many years and updates/upgrades. Not the same for MS Windows Vista, however. My experience, similar to many other forum users, has been constantly frustrating over the years I've had to deal with it.  I lost a lot of time dealing with problems caused by code errors in the last set of MS Windows Vista updates that made all my package applications that require internet access unusable.

I contacted the support of Lenovo and support forums for my problem, and they too cannot provide all the answers that address this issue that is causing me to spend much too much time I could use to work at a rate of $65 / hr, so you can see that this is not only an inconvenience.

Before someone points me to the myriad other similar positions for possible answers, let me say that I probably have alread read it and tried all the suggested actions, without success. I need to REAL answers and REAL support, and I need it NOW.  Also, I don't think I should have to pay for the support which has been made necessary by the negligence of MS to test their updates for compatibility issues with the popular, free package critical applications for the safety of MS OS system of a user, such as AVG Free antivirus, ZoneAlarm Free firewall personal , OR who are competitors for their navigation on the web or by email client applications. I am not now under the other another firewall that MS Vista firewall having had to uninstall my firewall ZoneAlarm Free. I even had one of my other previously compatible and effective anti-malware/spyware apps, AdAware, uninstall Lavasoft. No matter what I did, which was suggested to me by MS resources support or Lenovo support resources, this problem, which began shortly after the last round of all the months of downloads to fix security and facilities, persists and cost me more money in revenue and lost time every day.
