Windows XP Proffesional. No attempt to start; screen blinking cursor

My laptop got infected with a virus, when another person was on it. The virus was not built too well because I could easily identify areas that she had taken files. He remained in the temporary folder of the internet, and he ran many processes, one called mI5.exe and another mI4.exe. He also created a file that has been run by rundll. Visualization of the process of MI5.exe window was a window advertising displayed. If a file has been deleted, it was recovered by the other process. The most I could do was freeze each other with "Security Task Manager", but then of course I couldn't delete their files because they were always in memory.

So I set up the boot to boot into safe mode via msconfig and restarted. After the POST, my laptop stopped loading to a screen vacuum cmd with only the cmd cursor blink. From there, I can only turn off the laptop.

I tried to go through the BIOS setting, but everything was as if it was. So I put in my windows cd and tried to run the console recovery or repair but it did not saying windows doesn't detect the hard disks. After completing my BIOS settings once again, I changed my sata mode to AHCI and IDE after this change, the cd of windows at least was able to read the hard drive and all files were intact. (My phone was still working AHCI no problem).  I ran bootcfg, bootfix, chkdsk; None of these options worked. When I open the boot.ini to boot default OS was /minint (I don't know what it is if you could explain it to me) and he had a startup options XP to partition my disk 2, then another for partition 1. Boot settings looked weird and abnormal as for partition 2 start-up was / fast detect/noexecute = optin then here new/fastdetect > / fastdetect/SafeBoot: minimal. So I created a new file with the basic

[boot loader]
Timeout = 15
default = multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS
[operating systems]
"multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional "/ noexecute = optin/fastdetect

format and when I tried to reboot, it don't work either. This laptop is an acer travelmate, the disc had 2 partitions and I am very sure that windows has been installed on the first partition. When I first connect the recovery console, it says I have only 1 windows installation, but the bootcfg claimed 2 installations of windows. Before you do if I ran a repair on the installation windows and who has thus done nothing only fixed a few files (probobly some files that break or change version but haven't really effect important parts.)

I ran fixmbr, but since it can delete my partition I didn't want to risk that. And I'm not a righteous person try a format and reinstall.

So what I learned is that it is not learned to do with the boot.ini file, but since I'm not as good in this area of windows, I don't know what part of windows load the new boot.ini file and initializes it so it could be a problem there.

Thank you for reading this long explanation, and if you need more information please ask.

    Hello

    > then a cursor flashing and that's where he stops forever.
Do you mean that you have a cursor blinking in the upper left corner?

Blinking cursor is a typical sign of a malfunction of the HARD drive
My HARD drive died some time ago and I noticed the same flashing cursor in the upper left corner of the disk HARD was not available and I had to replace it.
New HDD to solve this I was able to install the new system on the new HARD drive and could start Notepad.

  • Installed Windows 7 and now can't start Wow, the cursor is frozen on the start screen.

I tried to restart, resettlement and to plug and unplug the mouse, made sure that all the drivers are up to date! What now?

    Hi navvar,

Thanks for posting of Windows 7 community.

I suggest to start the system in safe mode and check if the problem still persists.

Also download the current drivers and update the firmware of your mouse.

Step 1: Perform a clean boot

Note If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    a. log in the computer using an account with administrator rights.

    b. click on start to reduce this includes this ima, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

    c. collapse this includes this ima if you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue .

On the general tab, click Selective startup , and then clear the Load Startup items check box. (The box use the Boot file is not available.)

    d. on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft services check box and then click on disable all .

Note Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    e. click OK , and then click restart .

  • Blue Screen error-Kernel_Data_Inpage - dups then black screen blinking cursor Diisk reboot

I have a Windows XP - Home Edition. My personl computer Compaq is 12 years old.

The system displays a blue screen with letering white, it is said Kernel_Data_ Inpage Error and also tells me to remove caching and shadowing in my BIOS menu. ???

He said that if I recently installed new software or hardware to uninstall it to see if that helps.  I'm not as far as I know, execept one vershion editing ADOBE.  I also removed some software like PON Bars and an old vershion of JAVA /.

I did a system restore, but it does not help, and now my Internet Explorer crashes too!   I have to keep manually close the market system and after that I get a black screen, which requires a Reboot disk, Windows finally arrives, but will eventually, and the schreen blue WARNING appears. He said also he made a DUMP to protect my computer and stop.

Most of the things see you on a blue screen of death (BSOD) is generic boilerplate stuff you see on just about all BSOD.  What is important is the few lines that you see under the heading technical information - and sometimes it is not enough to understand what is happening.

After trying the suggestions of the engaged Microsoft Support Engineer 'expert', someone who knows how XP works may be able to help understand what is happening if you provide information on your system and your system crash dump files.  I do not see how these things suggested will give you clues about what causes your BSOD, but they are the "experts".

The following looks like a lot to do, but if you do the best you can with it, your question will be resolved more quickly than to try some things:

Unfortunately, MS Answers forums does not prompt for any information system when a new question is asked, so we don't know anything on your system.

Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

Please MS Answers, continue to make solving simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

What is your Internet browser and version?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

Your system seems to start OK and then crash or didn't he start not at all?
Can you make the system crash when you want?  For example, you would say that there is no specific system activity that coincides with the accidents (like watching videos, playing games, etc.).

The next time your system crashes, provide more information on what you see.

Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:
Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).
Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.
If there is a name of the file listed in the STOP message, don't forget to include this information too.
Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you.  We know what a BSOD looks like, we know what your BSOD looks like.
Now provide more information about your system and data against more recent accidents.
Click Start, run and enter in the box:

For information about video drivers, expand components, click display, click on edit, select all (Ctrl-A), copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here in your next reply.
There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.
This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.

It is sometimes easier just to download the memory dump files since your last breaks down on your SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).   So can someone who already has Windows debugging tools to look at things and understand what is happening.

Dump memory of recent crashes and BSOD files are usually in this folder (assuming that XP is installed on your C drive):

    c:\windows\minidump

The files will be named something like this:

    Mini120311 - 01.dmp

You need to download the latest... maybe 5-10 of the most recent crash dump files should be sufficient if you who have a lot.  If you do not have that much, send what you have.

    Getting started with SkyDrive:
    http://explore.live.com/SkyDrive-get-started

Once you get your downloaded files and watch them on your SkyDrive, you need to 'share' your folders/files so that others can see them.

Here is a link that tells you how to:
    http://explore.live.com/Windows-Live-SkyDrive-change-access-permissions-FAQ

Then click on the button "insert a link".  When you click on that, a window opens that contains the link to your SkyDrive files.

Copy the contents of the box "copy this link to share:" in selecting the content of the link (it will be all highlighted), press Ctrl + C (copy) and then come back to the forum and in your next message, press Ctrl + V to paste the contents of the link back here.

What you paste the return will look something like this link on my SkyDrive:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

I tried F8 and to repair, but even once, it just goes to the empty screen.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

Please switch on and press F2 to enter the BIOS.
In BIOS check if the HARD drive is recognized. The HARD drive should appear on the first page of the BIOS.
If it is not recognized, it means that your HARD drive is dead.
In this case, you will need to replace the HARD drive and install the system once more.

  • Black screen with cursor

    Problem:

Windows startup but stuck on the black screen with cursor

    System:

E7440 Dell with Windows 7 Pro

    Description:

E7440 has a ssd msata 250g installed with an msata to sata adapter. Hard drive's MBR mode. The system works well on Windows 7 pro. E7440 comes with an msata slot, so I removed the adaptor and connect directly on the slot msata ssd. Then the black screen with cursor problem happened. Put the adapter back with ssd and Windows 7 booted up normally.

I made a disk image of the ssd adapter so that Windows 7 is running, then restore the image to a disk sata hard. The black screen problems are out again.

Safe mode works normally. Low screen resolution does not solve the problem.

  • Why the two attempts to start are necessary to start the 10 Windows Boot Camp?

The first attempt to start seems to stall after the first Windows will appear and the monitor did his normal black screen.   A manual power off is required.  The second attempt to start Windows 10 Home functions correctly.  This on a MacBook with OS X installed 10.7.5 late 2006.  This MacBook as the host has Oracle VM in VirtualBox for Mac installed with Windows 7 Home, Windows 7 Pro and Linux Mint installed 17.2 as guests.  All these operating systems work relatively well.  Only two boot problem with Boot Camp is unusual.

Your 2006 MB does not officially support W10. If you use the startup disk and select Bootcamp, it requires a second reboot? You are using any third party NTFS software.

  • Pavilion dv7 hangs on windows start screen

    Hi all

This problem started a few days after I bought this computer in June, and I have tried everything I can think of including the factory restore and nothing has helped. I really don't want to return it because I really like it, but I can't stand this problem starting. I bought this one after I returned a dv6 for a power supply problem, it would not turn on at all after I had it for only a few weeks.

When the laptop is turned on it starts and then freezes on windows start screen. It takes a few other tests of the switch, tool repair, before I can get it to come. The repair tool is useless for this problem. In this process, I also end up with BSOD and stop errors. The error that appears now is 0 X 00009086. I will use no more restore because it isn't helped either.

A computer brand new, not even a month and he has this major problem. I've read other articles published on the dv7 and have not found anything else to try.

    Windows 7 home.

I would appreciate any ideas to try before I end up taking it back too.  Don't bode well for buying another HP again that's for sure.

    Hello

I had already tried the first two options and they did not help.

When I tried the 3rd option gave you the process stopped at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\classpnp.sys.  I looked into this and found it to be a problem in Vista too. I have read through the postings for this but haven't tried anything yet.

BSOD Stop error message... 9086 is associated with this start hang up.

I move from the Intel site and ran their audit tool then update the HM65 Chipset. This had no effect on the victory starts page suspended.

I ran sfc and he found no violation of integrity.

I was leaving my laptop because it is easier then trying to make it work again properly now 4-5 tries to make it work. It aggravates really me that I have this problem with a new computer.

    I try next?

Thank you for your help on this.

  • Computer will not start with Windows. I get a black screen and a blinking cursor.

Windows XP Home Edition startup problem

I have Windows XP Home Edition, but the computer does not start at the top.  I get a black screen and a blinking cursor.  I have an XP installation disc.  I was in the Recovery Console to recover all of the standard tasks, but nothing helped.

Brand, model and model number of your PC?

Are you able to get into the BIOS?
What took place prior to this problem?
For now, you can read this to get some ideas:
  • FX6831-03 will not be able to start Windows. Just shows the gateway splash screen, then freezes

My Gateway FX6831-03 will not be able to start Windows.  Just shows the gateway splash screen, then freezes.  OS is updated to current MS Win7-64 bit-w/all and virus/malware protection., Went over 4 days vacation, and when I tried to turn it on, it should display the gateway splash screen, then stop. can't hear anything that happens on the inside.

Problem solved!  An external hard drive, powered by a separate power supply, was not turned on, but it was plugged into a USB port. When the computer "seen" this cross-town 'dead', he just stop - but no message appears problem.

The good part?  Vaced out all the dust and replace the bios battery.  [I'm good for at least another 2 years;-]

    Hello

    · What is the error code or error message that you receive when the computer starts in safe mode?

    · Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

    · What is the number and the model of the computer?

    · Who is the service pack installed?

    Try the methods below:

Method 1: Disconnect all the devices connected to the computer such as printers, scanners or USB hard drives and restart the computer and check if that helps.

So my friend told me that his PC was not working. When you press the power button on the pc, the screen of the Dell BIOS load but instead of starting then Vista it shows just a black screen with a blinking cursor. Still, the BIOS detects the hard drive and has the ability to boot from it, but it just that again. I tried the recovery disk windows, and when you click on the "Repair" option when it loaded usually shows a list of the operating systems installed and their hard drives. There is no listed on the Vista recovery cd. Manually, you can browse and find the partition from the OS than its sequel, and clearly see the windows directories. It all simply not start, nor let the recovery disk to fix it because the operating system is not detected. I plugged the hard drive on my pc with the same results. Then I started my Win 7 and Explorer, disks and partitions are once again still visible with the appropriate directories. Windows says the drive is working properly and has no file system errors. When viewing in the hardware Manager, he says it's healthy (primary, active partition). My hard drive working correctly says healthy (boot, pagefile, primary partition). • Windows starts, but does not charge not (black screen with cursor)

[Sorry for the long post, but I feel the need to explain my situation]

    I have the following problem:

I turn on my PC, and Windows shows it is normal loading screen, then it goes in a completely black screen, with just the mouse in the middle. By the size of the cursor, I can say that it is in a low resolution, probably 800 x 600 (compared to my usual 1920 x 1080). I am able to movements of the mouse, but with no particular purpose without something to click on. No other keyboard input seems to work, except for press SHIFT 5 times, which shows the keys dialog box to self-retaining (with just 'yes' or 'No' options, no other connection); and Windows key + U, which shows the ease of access Center. CTR + Alt + Del does NOT work.

So far, that's what I tried (in chronological order):

    1. Start in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with network, safe mode with command prompt Mode, start low resolution video, last known good configuration: all give the same result as to start normally.
    2. Repair of your computer:
      1. Startup Repair: find the registry errors (I realized and fixed this more later on)
      2. System Restore: did not find any previous restore points (I know with certainty that there is, I took the habit of making regular restore points).
      3. Windows memory diagnostic: not found error.
      4. Command prompt:
        1. Ran the command chkdsk /f r, has no error report.
        2. Ran sfc/scannow: I don't remember the exact report, but he asked to restart the computer to complete the repair of the problems. I rebooted and ran the new order for the same result.
        3. Forced the scan with: sfc/scannow damaged = c: \ /offwindir = c:\windows, concluded and repair errors, not always not load windows.
    3. Ran Dell Diagnostics start, found no errors.
    4. Startup Repair ran found once again the registry errors. I found the solution to this in a forum for Microsoft Help ( answers.microsoft.com/.../f77d5355-b8be-41d6-af24-cae994e1768f ) and fixed the problem. I rebooted, but the problem persists.
    5. Startup Repair does not detect now no error. I tried restoring the system again, we find 2 restore points dated AFTER the beginning of my problem. I decided to restore it in any case, but none of them worked.
    6. I ran Windows Defender in offline mode:
      1. Quick scan: and found 2 threats and remove.
      2. Full system scan: found 4 more threats, removed 2 of them, the other two could not be removed because they were in an ISO file.
    7. I've tried steps 1, 2 and 3 with no luck.

With every step, I am aware that I am closer to having to reinstall Windows, then I decided to see if I could still access my HD to save my personal files. I did a live Linux CD (with Ubuntu), but I have a problem of mounting the readers, because they are in a RAID0 configuration. "sudo dmraid s" gives the following error: "ERROR: Sie: number of devices in RAID wrong value"isw_dbdffjficc_ARRAY0"[1/2] on/dev/sdb.

    Important details:

I changed my graphics about 4 months ago (a 750ti of Nvidia GTX for an ATI Radeon HD 6450), and told me that I can run short with the power supply. The new card requires a minimum of 450W, and I think that my diet is 460W. This may or may not have something to do with this question, I have no idea.

My 2 hard drives of 500 GB RAID0 configuration has brought me a lot of problems of the day 1. One of the HARD drive would be randomly (I am able to hear a clicking sound different when this happens) failure and the computer would break. At the start, he would ask a boot device. The Dell boot utility would then recognize only 1 readers, but would end without errors. After a reboot or two, everything would be fine and would be boot windows normally (apart from the usual error recovery screen) with no sign of corrupted data or anything. As I said, it happened are the arrival of my PC, but restarting a couple of times still attached. From now on, the two HD seems to work very well, the Dell utility recognizes two of them and found no errors in one of them, and I can access any directory from the command prompt.

Is there anything else I should try before reinstalling Windows?

Before the installation, I really wish I could recover my files (I have important documents of the College), is it possible to do this?

Sorry again for the very long post (and for any errors of language, English is not my native language) and thanks in advance.

Since you have not yet had your data readers. I recommend a Windows installation without formatting the drive... I don't like this solution, but at this point, you have probably tried everything.

Use a reinstallation of Windows 7 installation DVD, make sure that you select...

Select custom: Install Windows only (Advanced)

If you do not select one of the route options and everything simply highlight the largest partition and click Next:

Windows will dump all the old Setup files into the Windows.old folder

  • Windows 7 screen doesn't have a photo and then starts to blink. Can't get sys repair of work either!

Step 1 - start the computer - everything seems fine, Windows starts very well and brings me to the login screen.

PROBLEM: Login screen has nothing on it, but the pictures and the note of windows 7 on the bottom. If I have, in my frustration, to sit and watch for a few seconds the cursor shows busy and the screen starts flashing.

To solve this I ran all sorts of diagnostics of the equipment screen you get when you press the F key it tells you to start - before it comes to the windows login. I spent a day run this.

Today, I got online using this, my other computer, Googling the problem, I found that I can press F8 while trying to start and get the repair screen - which takes me for the most part to the windows screen that won't let me go anywhere!
