Windows xp repair disc

I have an old laptop IBM Thinkpad A22m, he had originally put win2k upgraded to XP.  The HARD drive started clicking on this I tried the image of the drive to mount on a new hard drive.  I only got a part of the image before the HARD drive became a paperweight.  Is it possible to repair the part of the image that I have to get the laptop working again with a new HARD drive?  I would like to get this machine running so that my daughter can play games and DVDs.

Is it possible to repair the part of the image that I have to get the laptop working again with a new HARD drive?

Probably not (although I guess it depends on what you mean by 'part of the image' and how much money you are willing to spend).

If you still have the CD that you used to switch to XP, you can install a new drive and then use the CD to install XP.

If you have the Windows XP CD is a CD 'Upgrade', then you will need a CD of a previous version of Windows (for example, Win 95, Win 98, Win2k) that you insert during installation to qualify for the upgrade process.

If you don't have an XP CD and would like to buy one, be very careful of what you buy.

Hello.. I asked a few weeks ago a problem I have with windows update. I was told to try a repair installation to fix the problem.

I have windows 7 Home premium 64-bit. It is already installed on my computer so I have a product key for it but not a windows recovery disk... I need to buy one, because only the retail product keys work for the iso version available for download here.

anyway... do I need to know if a disc like THAT will work for a repair installation? If this is not the case, do I have to buy a new drive for recovery with the product key included? Sorry I am trying to save money if possible lol but if I don't it's good. Thank you!

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

    etc.

  • Using HP Diagnostic and Win 7 HP PC system repair disc to another, even 0 s?

A friend who has a more recent with Win 7 HP, HP nor his family know little about the period of the PC, has it completely messed. He asked me if I could fix it, to make a long story short, I can't access a large part of what. I couldn't find any Active safety system. Norton 360 trial expired, Windows Defender is disabled.  I can't access Windows Explorer or the control panel and Windows Update does not work... The list goes on and. I believe there is a major Virus in the machine by the way he told me he started acting about 2 weeks, he started when he was on the opening page after page line.

It's funny, he thinks really that Microsoft took his machine and since he was on a Government web site (?) they are both after him!

I told her that I need to run Recovery, probably destructive if I can't back up its files.

I tried restoring the system to a point more a month, has not helped. I know that the first step is to get rid of the Virus, I was able to get Windows Defender working and updated, quick scan revealed nothing, and I had to start a full Scan him before I left.

I know that if a mouth full, but here is my question... Can I try to use HP's Diagnostics and Win 7 HP system repair disc I created from my PC on his PC (same OS)? Just to see if it helps so I can get a security software installed and running before you run the recovery.

    Hello

You can certainly use the Windows 7 repair disc as long as it's the same version (IE 32-bit or 64-bit).  However, if there was a large number of malware on the PC, I would say that your suggestion to restore PC to factory settings may well be the best option as this reformatted the hard first of all - this way, you can be sure that everything has been cleared until the operating system is reinstalled.

To perform a factory reset, there are 2 main ways. Either process will erase the data private so.

    1. If your friend has created a set of recovery disks, insert the first and reboot the PC to start the process.

    2. Another way is to first shutdown the PC, and then tap away at f11 as soon as you press the power button and this should access Recovery Manager, which then allows you to reinstall the operating system.

If you have a friend with Windows 7, a repair disc can be done.  There used to be a download for the system repair disc, but it was taken down, so you need a working Windows 7 PC group to make.  A Windows 7 installation disc can also be used - boot the disk and choose repair instead of the installation of the screen after the first screen.

I can't find how to on Windows Vista Home Edition to create a startup disk. How can I do this? Thank you!

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  • Unable to create a windows 7 64 bit repair disc

I have a Toshiba Satellite L745 S4210 with Windows 7 Home Premium. I am trying to create a system repair disc so I can undo a dual boot. However, when I followed the tutorial for the creation of the ERD, the program is not yet run for a second, then it crashes. I did research further and discovered far from the to do for Toshiba computers, but I can't do that either. Attached is image o the error messages I receive. Any help would be appreciated.

I could find another computer with windows 7 64 and which allows to create a repair disk.

  • EliteBook 8570w system repair disc Windows 7

    Hi all

I wanted to do a repair disc Windows on my Elitebook 8570w system. It's pretty easy because Hp has a program called Hp Recovery Disc Creator that accomplishes this task for you. It gives you a possibility to burn a Windows disc and a driver disc. What HP calls the Windows disk is the system repair disc.

Now, my problem is that the Windows disk does not work correctly (no idea why). When booting from the DVD screen guard stuck to Windows is loading files... Also when I try to run the installer from the DVD, I get error messages that says 'F:\Sources\autorun.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.' and after 'the file 'autorun.dll' could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue. Error code is [0xC1]"because I had all of a sudden to make the drive I can't simply make another DVD.

Then, I tried to let Windows do the repair system itself disc (help to create a system repair disc). However, I get a different error message: "the parameter is incorrect (0 x 80070057).» Some people suggest that HP Recovery Disc Creator has "hijacked" the function "Create a system repair disc" window and this is what causes the problem. If HP does not give me a second try, and it prevents Windows to give me a second try as well! Then, perhaps to remove HP Recovery Disc Creator would work. However, it does not list in programs and features and I can not find an uninstall file in its directory.

When you try to find a solution I came across a guide to create a boot Windows 7 Installation USB drive (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2432-usb-windows-7-installation-key-drive-create.html). She is to copy the files from the installation of the USB disk. Step 21 details the files that are on the installation disc. They are the same as on my system repair disc.

Download an image of the installation disk so the same as downloading an image of the system repair disc? (I download an atm file but don't know if that makes sense) If not, are there other options to create a new system repair disc? Maybe somehow Uninstall HP Recovery Disc Creator or he fool into thinking I have not yet tried to do a Windows disc? Where can I download a disk image of the repair system somewhere online (I found most of the links are dead)?

Please let me know if additional information is required! Thanks in advance!

    Michael

TLDR: burned a disc repair system, the disk is not working properly, HP and Windows will not let me try to burn again. Other options?

    Hello:

You can probably make an ISO file of the version of W7 Pro you must go to the link below.

Use the SP1 media files regenerate.

    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/14709-Windows-7-Digital-River-direct-links-multiple-languages-x86-amp-x64/page59?p=470600&viewfull=1#post470600

Use the W7 Pro from the bottom of the laptop product key to activate the installation.

This tool allows to transfer the ISO to a flash DRIVE or a DVD drive.  The tool also performs the bootable file.

Your other option would be to order a series of W7 for your PC recovery discs, by contacting HP for the country that you live in the link below.

    Hi TimYX,

This problem may be caused by the hardware failure or a bad hard drive configuration. You can try initializing the hard drive and everything should be good. If the problem comes from the configuration or failure, you will lose data and will need a 3rd party program data recovery.
