Windows XP SP3 icons suddenly weird appeared filling up office

Windows XP SP3 computer laptop... icons appeared suddenly strange filling on the desktop!  Some of my icons were still there, but new ones with boxes and characters where the description icon is supposed to be!   Doesn't have never seen something like this it.  I went in Mode safe and they were still there!  Some of the characters looked like a foreign language, but there were mostly of the boxes.   I ran Malwarebytes and Avast.  Could not find anything.  Unfortunately the Sys. Restore has been disabled.  GRrrr.  Any ideas?  Thank you.

Hi Sillycat41,

·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: You can run the Microsoft fixit and check if the problem still persists.

Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/system_maintenance_for_windows/en-us

Method 2: I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: During the scan of the hard drive if bad sectors are found, the scanner tries to repair this sector, all available on which data may be lost.

Let us know if that helps.

    Hello

    Try this:

Control Panel - device - sounds Manager - note manufacturer device name and info on the graduating model.
Double click and get the date and version of the driver (if 06 are dates, you use the default windows driver). Now
Click the DRIVER UPDATE (this can not find anything because MS is far behind the certification of drivers). Now LAW
CLICK above and UNINSTALL - REBOOT - it will refresh the driver stack.

Now, go to the manufacturer of the system and recover the last pilot audio/Hi-Fi as a fall.

Download it - SAVE - go to where you put it - RIGHT CLICK top - RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT

Now do the same for the manufacturer of the device (the one that made the device - if you were using the default windows
you might need to look in the Device Manager - his new driver).

Often, you will need to run the sound card drivers several times to get the latest version installed and will appear in
Manager - Sound. This is because they make back the drivers one at a time and then finally install the
most recent. Look in the Device Manager to be sure that you have installed the version of the driver is the one showing, if not
run the driver again (reset each time) until the shows a correct.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

This problem is likely to make for an extension of the shell badly installed on your machine.  The way to solve this problem is to download and install the free software "ShellExView".  When you run this program, it displays all shell extensions that are installed on your machine with a checkbox next to it.  By unchecking the box, you can disable this particular shell extension.  By trial and error, you can find the one that is causing your problem.  Once you find it, the solution is usually apparent (usually UN-installing and re - install an application associated with this file extension).

I can't install the bluetooth mobile phone because there is no Bluetooth device icon in the control panel. I use Windows xp sp3. Can someone tell me what I need to do?

    Hi naturalmente.

What is the number and the model of the device you are trying to connect?

Check the conditions below are true:

If there are other USB devices, try to remove all USB devices that you do not have to be installed during the troubleshooting process. 2. check that the Bluetooth device that you want to solve is turned on and that it is enabled.

    3. check the status of the Bluetooth support service:

    a. to open the snap Microsoft Management Console (MMC) for Services in Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type services.msc and click OK.

    b. double-click the Bluetooth Support service.

    c. If the Bluetooth Support service is stopped, click Start.

    d. in the startup type list, click Automatic.

    e. click the log.

    f. click Local System account.

    g. click OK.

    h. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

    4. search for the parameters below:

    a. right click on the Bluetooth in the notification area icon and then click on view the Bluetooth settings.

    b. on the Options tab, click to select the discovery of the Tower on the checkbox and then click on apply.

Pro Service Pack 1 of Windows 7 running and recently had to do a reinstall of Windows. The upgrade icon did not appear until I had installed all the updates as a result of resettlement (around 200 of them). I booked my upgrade and clicked on the State and he said I had reserved my upgrade and does not need to do anything else at the moment. When I then started, the icon had gone into the taskbar. Where is it happened, why he disappeared, and I still have a Windows reserved 10 upgrade?

Your reservation must still be valid, that the icon may be missing because Microsoft pulled one or more GWX updates and possible result is the icon as well.

This has to do with what software you use for scanning, and not with

  • How to make the icons of programs appears on the screen of windows 8

Hi Thunderlight, you helped me with my last request and thank you again now I have another question that you might be able to help me with.  How to make the icons of programs appears on my screen of windows 8?  I had to download the debut8 when I had windows 8 so I would have the appearance of windows 7 until I have to use Windows 8.  And some of my icons of windows 7 on my windows 8, but not all.  How to go on my windows screen 8 tiles?   I now get more usage of windows 8 and use it more now so would like all my original programs that I had with windows 7 on my windows 8 as it is now tile.  I thank you and hope you can help.

    Hi Laura,

In theory, when you switch from an earlier version of Windows to Windows 8 - as your installed applications are kept by the upgrade process, except those who are not compatible - you should find all your apps in Windows 8.

If they all do not appear on your start screen follow these steps to pin them there:

    • [Win] + C
    • Search
    • Click anywhere in the top middle of the screen to hide the charm bar

All installed applications are displayed. They do not necessarily correspond on a single screen to use the horizontal "lift" to bottom of the screen to move to the right / left

    • Right-click on an application, you want to pin to the start screen
    • Click on Pin to Start at the bottom left of the screen

You are finished. A mosaic of this application is available on the start screen.

If there is an application, you are sure is installed on your PC and you don't think through the steps made me know - there will be more complex...

If you install a new application under Windows 8 the corresponding tile is automatically added to your start screen.

    Hope this helps

    See you soon
