Windows7 sp1 update gets error 0x8E5E0147
I have windows 7 home edition x 64 based system. Updating to windows 7 sp1, I get an unknown error with 0x8E5E0147 error code. I tried following troubleshooting steps.
(1) control panel ran troubleshooting for windows update
(2) analysis system Ran tool
Firewall and antivirus 3) turned off all the
(4) clean install I tried
My machine has mcafee. I uninstalled and installed microsoft security essentials and report service. Both have been disabled during the installation of update, I always got the error. Please notify.
Back to the top of your files and try in place upgrade. It worked for me.
-When we are invited to enter the product key, please click Next without entering any key. The installation wizard will prompt and prompt you to enter the product key now. Please choose No.
-When you reach the installation type you want? screen, click Repair Windows 7 upgrade.
When running in place upgrade, I was asked to unintall dell web camera software central. I think that if I would have just uninstalled and tried to install sp1, it could work, but not sure. You can give that a shot if you have installed similar software.
