WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab

Microsoft has the fixit above for Windows Update but it's a diagcab file and I can't open it or run it.  How can I make it work?

I found the answer elsewhere in the community, quote

Shift + right click on the file and choose copy in the path.

Press Windows key + r Type

MSDT /cab

so it will look something like

MSDT /cab 'c:\users\david candy\desktop\windowsupdate.diagcab '.

end of quote

It worked as it tries to connect to a microsoft server that is hard to do.  When I get through I get the message "your diagnostic ticket doesn't seem to be valid.

Anyone know anything about this?

Recently, I got my 10 pre-installed windows to windows 7. I tried to run Windows Update, but it hung on "check for Updates" for more than 15 minutes. • My computer cannot connect to Microsoft Update

I tried to run Microsoft Update manually by connecting to the Microsoft Update page. I clicked on install Express, but the research process seemed as if it would never end because the progress bar still moving; at one point, a message appeared "the website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to examine. The options below... This block me to install the latest updates. I would really appreciate help from someone to solve this problem. I have somehow hit on WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab but I can not run because Windows does not recognize this file. If it is a Microsoft tool so why Windows can't recognize it? I would also help on how to open and run this file, if it is indeed a useful tool. I tried a lot of things, but to no avail:

-renamed C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder, restarted the computer

-stopped and rebooted rebooted, and automatic updates

Re-regitered several DLLs associated with Microsoft Update

-Rename the Catroot2 folder and restarted (CryptSvc prior to shutdown and reboot after renaming)

None of them helped to solve the problem. I finally downloaded WindowsUpdateAgent30 - x 86 .exe and tried to installed it but a message showed "no need to install it because it already exists.

I would be grateful for any suggestions to get out me of this problem.

I found this entry in the temporary Internet files:

    http://update.Microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/ErrorInformation.aspx?error=15

I had to disable and stop the automatic updates so that automatic updates has taken over almost 100% of the CPU, run like crazy first connect the site to update and download updates, thus crippling my computer. I wonder if anyone from Microsoft reads and addresses this issue as soon as possible. Microsoft is really aware of the problem? I see no way to forward my complaint to Microsoft directly. They hear me? Windowsupdate.log is full of "update is not allowed to download because of the regulation".

I just had the same problem and posted a question on the community site. Finally, after having restarted my computer several times and go to the site with the same lack of results, I found that the site is at a standstill. Maybe their server is down, but this is just conjecture on my part. I see no further questions or comments about that nobody else than you.

  • Automatic updates is stuck, includes most of it resources, is not download the updates (windows xp) & how to use FixIt

Automatic updates is stuck and includes most of the computing resources, does not download updates (windows xp).

After restarting a couple of times and the computer almost melt it finally resolved itself but would like to know how to solve/speed "constipation" where it would happen again.

Have automatic updates set in place to be notified, but not to download or install before you have manually committed.  Launched the download but then icon taskbar disappeared and cannot cancel downloads when the computer started to overheat.  Restarted.

East went to the Microsoft Update Web site, but got stock without ever generating the list of updates.  Restarted.

Went to link to FixIt for this type of problem and it just downloaded WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab and indicated that nothing was available to open this type of file.  Should a FixIt application be installed first?  He is yet to provide suggestions on how to proceed.

Aversion to disable the automatic updates if would like more information on how to have a greater mastery of the process that it hogs computer and interfere with the realization of planned work.

    Kind regards.

    Thanks for the reply.

I agree that it is not dust on the fan - read my response above.

As I said above, I have concluded that the solution to the problem of automatic updates are unruly must all just use to be notified when updates are available, but then go on the site of Microsoft Updates and make the download / installation of the updates from there.  Doing it this way is much less likely to cause problems and offer better control of the user.  Once Microsoft Updates ends the taskbar icon disappears until the next time updates are available.

  • Windows 7 can not find updates

Recently, I discovered that my machine was not automatically download and install updates since early August.  The laptop is several years old; I bought it new, and it came with Windows 7.  That's what I've tried so far:

Turn off everything except the MS in MSConfig services.

Download and run this file: WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab.

    Temporarily disable my antivirus Eset.

None of them worked.  I'm poking around the Download Center, but could not find a chronological list of updates to download manually.

  • Windows 7 "check for Updates" stuck (I tried KB3135445)

We moved recently, last updated my PC was December 2015, now that the things plugged in and noticed that Windows Update crashes when looking for updates. I spent about 4 hours, now looking at the Forums and Youtube, but nothing has solved the problem. The KB3135445 fix seems to download a different file that people show online (WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab), then perhaps it installed never really 3135445? Also, I got the Error Message: "Setup has encountered an error: 0x8024001e", which I can't find referred to in one of the list of.

My system is an old HP PC, 64-bit, but it is updated with Service Pack 1 and the most recent update was KB3035583.

I'm an old dad, so just because I am using some of these fancy terms, please do NOT assume that I am an I / T guy, so please help me with a few simple touches! Thank you very much.

  • Monthly updates of Windows 7 turned into a nightmare experience (very slow)

Over the last four months, try to download/install important updates for Windows 7 has become an absolute nightmare, and it seems to be getting worse.

Previously, if I ran one of the MS Fix - It tools, the problem resolves itself, but not this month.

When new updates are available, there is no notification, but the processor starts working at 20% capacity even if no application running.  This will go on for days.  If I choose to download Windows updates, the progress indicator shows 0 Kb Total, 0% complete for an indefinite period.

This time, I ran "WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab" several times with reboots and it has given the following results each time:

First of all, a separate dialog box would jump to the top with the following error message: "X error of compressed (zipped) Folders - file not found or no read permission.  OK' I don't know what it is referring to.  If I click OK, it disappears.

After a most important treatment, the following information is displayed:

Registration for the service is missing or corrupt (fixed)

    Windows update error 0 x 80070057 (2016-07-14-T-05_54_37P) (fixed)

    Recent updates (fixed) installation problems.

The only thing that me mystified the Fix - It app above has also stated "Architecture: amd64", while my PC is running on a processor Intel Core i7 2600 K CPU (not overclocked).  (?)

I ran Malwarebytes to check for bugs and have a current version of Norton Internet Security runs continuously in the background.

It resets the screen install updates at this stage and start at the bottom left of the screen indicates that there are updates installed at the stop.  Off 10 updates, he settled on the banks of 2 or 3 instead of the entire batch, then the entire scenario repeats itself if I click on the diagcab application after restarting the computer.

It seems to me that the Windows Update installation process is broken and Microsoft are indifferent or unable to fix the problem.

I've read countless complaints on the web of people faced with a similar problem.

Is this a ploy by Microsoft to force people to upgrade to Windows 10 making their digital life unbearable?

This is unacceptable, and Microsoft need to resolve this ongoing problem!

  • Do not set - 0 x 80070490 - update error

    Hello

I am experiencing VERY slow / or no "Check For Updates" - essentially stuck.

I used the tool "WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab" who aledgedly fixed some issues but

NOT Update error 0 x 80070490. "no not fixed"

    Please see screenshot

I also downloaded a very large (500 MB +) Microsoft tool (forget the name) - with no results

    What should do?

    Thank you

I've been dealing with this same problem and have unsuccessfully tried many "bugs".  I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and didn't want to update Windows 10.

I have run Chkdsk (no problem found), analysis tool system, scannow/f (no problem found), Windows Update, Microsoft Windows Fix it Tool, joined the service. MSC and restarted BITS, help, Windows Update Services, and Windows Installer, start in Safe Mode, etc..  Absolutely none of this works.  My anti virus is Kaspersky Internet Security.  I tried to disable it but still no update.

When I click on start Windows Update I get a box that says searching for updates and a green line that travelled horizontally on the screen. Sometimes the processor on the CPU works seeming to indicate it is looking for the files, but none are never downloaded.  Then, just the CPU stops and there is no other activity yet the box with green line travel says he checks the updates.  I ran this at any time of the day and for various periods of time, but nothing works.

I even had Microsoft try to help, but they have not been able to solve this problem.  The windows update error I get is 0 x 800070490.  In the Windows Update log, the line reads: FATAL Manager: UH: 0.80070490.  Assess the applicability failed in the SB - TSC".  My last update was installed in may 2016 and I have received no updates the June or July Patch Tuesday.  I have Windows Update to search for updates and let me decide to download/install.

I thought about getting a new computer, but it will have Windows 7 Professional.  Is there a chance that I might have the same problem, even with a new OS? I've read some people have done a clean install of Windows 7, and they always have a problem with Windows Update.  I'm about to abandon Microsoft for Apple (but which has its own drawbacks).  However, what is a computer on which I can't update?
